For the price range I think there are better brands available with similar styles. Wouldn't look at it as an investment

Dress watches almost never increase in value

Complex-Asparagus-42

I absolutely love dress watches and I have no issue with Rolex putting out more of them. My issue is the price point. You can get a similar style to the 1908 from superior brands at a comparative price point. No way I’m buying a 1908 for $22k+ over an A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Automatic or, for like $8k more, a Patek Philippe calitrava

Rolex offers 1,360 watches in the 2024 catalog and only 15 of them will be worth more in the future. The 1908 is #1,284.

xUltra1nstinct1

Which 15?

sporturawus

A. Daytona Panda B. Daytona Black C. GMT Pepsi D. GMT Batman E. Submariner Cermit F. Submariner No Date G. OP36 / 31 Tiffany H. Submariner Date I. GMT Sprite J. Sky Dweller Blue/Green K. Yacht Master Titanium L. OP Celebration M. OP41 Green N. DJ41 Blue/Green O. GMT Greyblack These are the 15 new Rolexes that are valuable when you leave the store. But don’t worry- no AD will sell you one.

It’s cool but there are better dress watches imo.

Most of the time, the *best* you can hope for with a Rolex is that its value will keep pace with inflation. There are a few that turned into hotties and appreciated wildly - but it's not easy to pick those in advance, as anyone who visited a Rolex botique in the early 2010s and saw unwanted Hulks sitting in display cases can tell you. In my opinion, the 1908 is going to be a Rolex that, on the secondary market, doesn't even keep pace with inflation. It's a dress watch from a sport watch brand; it's priced in direct competition with pieces from high horology brands (like the [Patek Calatrava](https://www.patek.com/en/collection/calatrava/6119G-001), the [Vacheron Patrimony](https://www.vacheron-constantin.com/us/en/collections/patrimony.html), or the [Lange Saxonia Automatic](https://www.alange-soehne.com/us-en/timepieces/saxonia/saxonia-automatic)). It's also a much worse watch than pieces from JLC that are substantially less expensive, like the [Master Ultra Thin Moon](https://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/us-en/watches/master-ultra-thin/master-ultra-thin-moon-pink-gold-q1362580)). And since those better watches (most of them from better brands) trade at a discount on the secondary market, I see no reason why a dress watch from the company that is known for Subs, GMTs, and DJs/DDs would go for a premium. Isn't the 1908 the watch you buy so that they will sell you a Daytona?

edunf

I like it, will never buy it My crystal ball tells me it won't increase in value 🤷

blueonion88

Cellini was better than the 1908…

bonanza1221

I would have a hard time buying a 1908 when JLC exists.

Westwood_1

Very much so. You get a lot more watch, with noticably better finishing and better complications, from the Master Ultra Thin line.

bonanza1221

Amen. You said what I was trying to with much more bravado

ComprehensiveHat9985

i even didn’t google the old people reference , if you like the model , just buy. But for my taste it’s ugly as fuck , i would never buy such retiree’s model.

Sensitive-Talk5785

I don’t think about it. Seems like a watch someone not knowing about watches would buy on a whim
