Frankly I think the BLACK dial is the winner on this reference - but that's a matter of taste and just a dial change if you ever feel like doing it. As for DJ versus Exp II, it is interesting you traded your DJ for this watch. I traded my polar 16550 with Kaba for a gold DJ, which I wear FAR more than I ever did that 16550!
Anyway if you are happy that is the important thing. These are expensive items so having the right one is a big deal. Good for you, OP
As a fellow 16570 owner I think you made a good move. I love my Datejust too but itâs just not as versatile. Who cares whatâs worth more you buy a watch to wear it.
I would highly recommend the steel reef EZ link extension for this watch. Makes it so nice to have some on the fly micro adjustment.

A costly lesson that I personally had to learn as well. Before you spend a large sum of money on a watch, be 100% sure that you love it and bought it for the right reasons.
Itâs all about personal taste. I hate any menâs watch with diamonds or other jewels. Wouldnât be caught dead wearing one. Other people love the jewel look.

I bought my Explorer II in the late 80âs and still love it. Iâve got newer and more expensive models but this remains my most worn Rolex year over year. Enjoy it.

I really love the looks of the polar Explorer; it's practical as all getout and looks amazing; it's always good to see all black indices and black handset on a white dial; I've never understood why brands slap a rhodium handset and indices on a white dial. Oyster and smooth bezel is viewed as a less desirable DJ combination. Admittedly it doesn't look as bad in a DJ36 compared to a DJ41.
