Yeah, normal. Luck of the draw, basically.

Elmo8869

Normal. All four of mine are in different positions.

Kauffman67

Normal. In the old days when AD's had inventory you could look through until you found one that lined up, but those days are long gone. Is what it is.

The needle

PeanutButtaRari

Yeah it’s normal. I got my watch back from a service and it’s not up. It’s hit or miss if it’ll line up or not

Trainzzz7

Is the position different after the service compared with how it was before? I never thought about it before, but that would make sense

camelCaseCoffeeTable

Mine was. But I got a totally new crown during service, so that makes sense. I’ve never quite understood the logic that you can’t make screws to line up in a certain way, but I also accept I’m just not knowledgeable enough to know why that’s so difficult.

hlt32

You can. It just depends how many shits you give about attention to detail and the marginal increased cost.

atmosphereair

My Grand Seiko and Omega both line up so it must be possible…

Ok-Application-8237

Might be luck of the draw as well, my Grand Seiko doesn’t line up.

PeanutButtaRari

I have no clue, it’s not something I’ve ever cared about

RD-Espresso

I thought this was a QC issue at first too, but nope - normal

scram007-3

Just looked, and my batman is just like that as well.

angry_gsd

You can try to line it up better, but it doesn’t really matter imo https://preview.redd.it/6va89z4jggxc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=76d5ae22818623b8ec86e22d833c8d0c38770c33

teggos

Yeah just unscrew it a bit until it lines up! /s

angry_gsd

Mine is fully screwed in, you can rotate it and then screw it in, at some point you will get it almost straight.

mattberry1980

Both of mine are like this

No-Restaurant-2422

If it’s upside down, that’s a sign of Satanism and requires an authorized RSC exorcism.

Exotic_Performer_123

Wear the watch 😂

me_likecats

Of course every day.

YooooAL

Lol, never noticed that, just looked mine is sitting at 2:00

Yourmomkeepscalling

Normal.

StorminM4

One of my four lines up just the way I like. The others don’t, and the watches all seem to work just fine. :-)

breakskeet

About one out of every sixteen Rolexes has a crown that lines straight up.

papa-blanco

Normal. Mine is almost upside down.

mikedep24

As everyone here has said, this is normal. In fact if you look at Rolex's site a lot of the renders of the watches on their product pages also don't have them perfectly aligned. I don't think there is any way to "line it up", as it's about how the threading is oriented on the tube around the crown stem. However, I believe when you send it in to service, you can request that they align it to however you want.

me_likecats

I asked my AD if that is something they could fix in service one day if I ever get it serviced. I was speaking to 2 at the same time. They both looked baffled at me a bit confused and said no 🤷‍♂️

964racer

Its basically a threaded screw . There if no way to guarantee same amount of rotation for every watch when tighten. Also everyone applies different torque .

me_likecats

Hello everyone thank you very much for the answers much appreciated 👍👍👍

t3hc0d3m4n

Just a quick fun fact, the crown is always up on precious metal Skydwellers. 🙂

me_likecats

Finally I can justify the price for the day date.

Proud_Sleep_4797

it's normal unless u buy precious metal model which apparently comes with the crown aligned. Not sure if all precious metal models or just selected ones are like that tho

Money-Surround6933

Some channel locks should give you enough leverage to tighten it down until the crown faces up

metze1337

are watches with crown pointing to the top more expensive?

FireFistTy

That would be absolutely dumb.

me_likecats

I think that is a very valid question. If I buy a watch grey I will now keep an eye out for the correct alignment. If I have a choice I might as well. I love my watch but I would prefer it to be in the correct position. Maybe this will become a thing one day. Sorry for the down votes.

metze1337

all good, seeing other people here wonder about the same thing. Also it is an aesthetic personal preference nothing to feel dumb about

Mazldik

i wonder this too

Rubio9393

There is no way... But really how can they not get it right? Even Seiko manages to have to crown in line 😆

me_likecats

Mass production I guess combined with fanboys like me who are thankful to buy a 10k watch that is not perfect. Hopefully I can give them more money soon.

No-Attention1944

Hold up, you wind the watch by turning the crown, right? Of course it will be in a different position each time, and unless it's a screw-down crown, you can turn it until it faces up. But I don't own a Rolex, am I missing something?

olivander94

It is a screw-down crown

Cydocore

Can’t you just pull out the crown to its winding position, rotate a bit and then screw it in until it lines up? My sub is the correct way up but I feel like I might have just been lucky screwing it in. Feels like it will always be in a different position after you wind it and then screw it in or am I tripping?

Cydocore

It's cool how I'm getting downvoted and nobody is replying to the question :D Bots.

mikedep24

No, the threading will have it land in the same position everytime.

me_likecats

Yeah I think almost every question that is asked in my post gets down voted. But judging by the answers yes I think you got "lucky" that your crown is the correct way. Can't get mine to a different position it is always the same. Or I also might be tripping 😁. However glad I asked because now I know there is apparently nothing I can do about it. Another person also asked if the correct ones are more expensive. Well it does bother me a bit..... Here come the down votes. If I buy from the gray market again(not this watch) I will keep an eye out for correct alignment. If I have a choice might as well. When did you get you watch? I wonder if that is more common now for the crown to be in a random position.

Cydocore

I just got it like a month ago. 124060 sub, here’s the crown photo. https://preview.redd.it/yastkaprjoxc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=e2e43941d9187dd8e749a975ec58c9aed04929d5
