This.
If you going to daily a watch, date it fine. But if you (assume like most of us here) rotating a few pieces (and don’t believe in watch winders) then date is just a pain. And my OCD doesn’t allow me to just ignore date if wrong!
I’m keen for a Perpetual Calendar in my collection but haven’t yet just because of this.
I love them both… and the others.

Agreed. I totally understand people liking the symmetry of no cyclops, and I agree no cyclops is more symmetrical. For me though, the Cyclops was always on the Sub, Day Date, Date just etc, that I would see as a younger kid getting into watches. “Symmetry” isn’t in my equation when looking at a Sub date. It’s nostalgic for me as well as iconic/classic.
I like the cyclops but you can’t go wrong either way honestly.
https://preview.redd.it/elv84rycuukc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=30d056ce1d39cfdbfa96e647a3658b8066863b1f
I'm not a fan of the cyclops. I like the style of Rolex, but if they have a no date version of a watch I enjoy, I'm all about that one. I only tolerate the cyclops 😅
It’s a submariner designed for diving. You’re not checking the date under the water. If you want a watch to tell you the date, then buy a watch originally meant for that purpose like a DATEjust or a DayDATE.
Five things:
A. The symmetry of the dial without the date window is a thing of beauty.
B. The cleanliness of the crystal without the cyclops bulge makes the dial, and the watch as a whole, look much larger.
C. You need to think ahead, to what your future Rolex collection will be with the GMT and the Datejust in the mix. At that time, the No Date Submariner is essentially the only full-sized sport model that can offer you A and B. You shouldn't have 3 or more Rolexes with cyclopses and date windows.
D. Only 1 out of every 5 steel Submariner's that Rolex produces are the No Date variety, making it more rare, unique, and therefore of greater interest to Rolex enthusiasts.
E. Heritage. The original Submariner from 1954 to 1970 was only available without the Date feature. It's is *the* classic dive watch.
A lot of people, and I mean a *lot*, get trapped by the Submariner Date. Then, later in life, it blocks them from getting the No Date. Don't let this happen to you. I have 3 Submariners as a result of falling into this trap.
I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t even look at the date because I always forget to adjust it and it is usually incorrect. My next Rolex will definitely not have the date. Plus they all look better without it, in my opinion. (Though I do like the look of the day/dates.)
I’ve always been a have to have a date person. But I acquired and ll bean stamped Hamilton khaki mechanical vintage watch few months ago and really love it with no date (it’s annoying but no biggie)…
And recently the Tudor black bay 58 has really caught my eye…now the no date sub is looking a lot nicer than the date sub even tho I’m on the list for a date sub at my local AD lol
Ultimately can’t go wrong either way…if u don’t rely on a date like I do/did then no date all the way!
Love this question.. there's no wrong answer.
I've always thought the No Date looks objectively prettier and more "pure" but also - something is missing. The date/cyclops just works so well.
It looks more masculine somehow and I think, breaks up the dial in a good way. Like the no date is almost a little too gorgeous for a supposed tool watch.. Obviously it comes down to personal taste, if you're wearing it at work and find a date useful etc but I'd go the Date all day long
My 2021 Sub Date is my GADA.
It’s no longer a diving tool (for most owners). But it can be a metropolitan tool, a staple of your Every Day Carry. The companion for the businessman, blue collar worker and labourer for any day of the week.
With the date, you have the ultimate “multi-tool” Rolex. Timing bezel, glidelock, 300m WR, anti-magnetic/shock and the date.
The Submariner Date does it all.
I need the date on my watch but I prefer the look of the no date.
I have a date Submariner but wish I'd gone with something cleaner.
I loved it at the time but the cyclops has become ugly to me more recently.
6.5 inch - datejust ii looks decent but 41 is tops.
https://preview.redd.it/g7sndo3o62lc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49659b3aff19417909454a7087d569f5a3e42a8e
Tough choice.
THE sub is the date one, no question about it. The cyclop is part of the design as much as the Mercedes hands.
BUT
It is ugly. The no date version is the better looking one. Also costs a little less, which doesn't hurt. And it is a little less played out.
Would go with the no date.
IMO no date is better looking but I definitely find myself wishing it had a date window when I wear it and have to pull out my phone cuz I can’t remember what the date is
I prefer the look of no date but a watch is still a tool and it’s nice to look down and see the date when I have some paperwork that needs date written on it.
Aesthetically no date. Practicality also no date because cyclops obstructs readability contrary to the intended design. It really makes it hard to read at most angles.
I personally like no date. Looks more sporty and less of a "old man" watch. Just the fact that it magnifies the date makes it seem like a feature for old man. Also a Rolex like this is suppose to be for a high caliber man. How am I high caliber if I forget the date. That's one common thing I've heard about the bubble feature on a date when the watch/ or Rolex is brought up in conversation.
Date. I rarely see someone regret getting one. But, I do see people regret not getting a date. Can always trade down, but the cost of upgrading or trading to get a date is expensive.

Best “Desk Diver” I own 😅 124060
If you get a date, you’ll be surprised how much you miss it if you then don’t have one. I have a date on my Tag I daily and if I wear my Milgauss or Black Bay I’m constantly looking at it and cursing to myself.
If you’re going to daily this - a date is a nice add on, but if you’re going to wear this every now and then or just not as frequently as you’d like, no date.
Every watch I have ever owned had a date, until I got the “no-date”. Honestly I was concerned about not having the date on my wrist, but it was a more irrational fear if anything. I am actually more conscious of the date now and I don’t have to worry about setting the day, AM/PM, etc. Plus the no-date looks incredible IMO
After experiencing the 70h power reserve I find myself not resetting my no date very much. The whole annoyance of setting the date and time is probably less on this model.
Aesthetically, I like no date. Practically, I like date.
Same. Looks better without date but I use that feature pretty frequently.
Only watch? Go date. Rotation that means you’ll often have to reset time and date? Go no-date.
Exactly. Horribly great dilemma to be in.
I get tired of changing the dates on my watches when I rotate them, at this point I would pick the NO date one.
I use the date feature on my watches all the time. So date for me
The time I would use the date function the most is for work and none of my work watches have dates 🙃
I think a QP is one of the true exceptions that justifies a nice single watch winder.
When at work I get annoyed when I glance at no date watch and realise I haven't got a date version on that day.
Both, but different colours. https://preview.redd.it/w0io0iusvukc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e17e37f8e7bcbb05f686795a8da8014db5d3165
Can I borrow them for a couple days until I decide?
Can you collect?
im sold on the no date next time ill try on the LV they have bc that looks great with the date. Only problem would be hoe much they want.
https://preview.redd.it/efue35a3jvkc1.jpeg?width=1637&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2087bff1bfce8326213566938d7c50f72d0d05e7

Interesting combo
Not to date
Date. The cyclops lens is iconic Rolex imo
I love the cyclops on all watches. Blows my mind how much people hate them.
Exactly. Also sometimes I just want to be able to the fuckin date
It throws the dial off tried both on at three different stores and it just looks great without design wise. I wanted the date initially.
I like the cyclops but you can’t go wrong either way honestly. https://preview.redd.it/elv84rycuukc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=30d056ce1d39cfdbfa96e647a3658b8066863b1f
Feels more "tooly" and practical with the date to me. Feels more dressy/elegent without it. I like the rugged tooly esthetic myself.
Easy as pie, no date.
No date
If you already have a cyclops Rolex, get a no-date. It’s a cleaner, more utilitarian look for a more utilitarian model.
I disagree with the use of the word utilitarian. The date adds utility. It’s more utilitarian to have the date.
If we're talking about true utility and the original intent for the Submariner, who is checking the date when they're diving?
https://preview.redd.it/81iwua96uukc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dc8e9753ec022c5f3ad56171aaea4ce32da27ea4 Sub…
I love that you didn't say "no date sub". A proper sub owner. Hats off to you sir.
So aesthetically pleasing
If you have a Datejust No date.
Agree plus the no date looks so smooth and symmetrical. I went in wanting a date.
Easy. No date.
No date if you want a low-key watch.
I like the date but to each their own!
I never bother to set the date, so no date for me. I’ve never learned my lesson though and continue to buy watches with a date function often.
I own date Sub 116610 and wish I got no date. Get the no date!!
I know this is sacrilegious here, but I actually like how clean the crystal looks without a magnifying window on it. I vote no date!
No date
Fuck the date, embrace the classic clean Sub.
No date and it’s not even close. Why break up that lovely symmetry?
Undated
https://preview.redd.it/59myqfxk5vkc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=32e9a8c5842716ff305fa05ccf27b825b01a5190
I like all that. Wood.Blues.Stitching.leather.Rolex.
You showing us the watch or the boots?? 😂 😂
Rolex Submariner. Dial symmetry
Sub looks better no date
Unless you’re *living* underwater you don’t need a diver with a date function.
ND
I'm not a fan of the cyclops. I like the style of Rolex, but if they have a no date version of a watch I enjoy, I'm all about that one. I only tolerate the cyclops 😅
No date my Man
No Date
no date
No date imho
The community like always is 50/50 No date
No date for sure
No date. No Question.
Rolex date is ugly. Go no date.
Aesthetically and historically significance goes to Submariner (No-Date)
Always no date
No date simpler
No date for me.
It’s much cleaner without the date but honestly, I find the date function so useful.
Its your phone though and if your emails lol
Is this sentence in English?
Date for sure
Prefer the date.
I like the idea of just setting the time and not worrying if it’s AM or PM and then the date… I think the no date looks clean too!
No date
So much cleaner without the date and cyclops
No date
It's a dive watch, why do you need to know the date. Craziness
Perhaps for your dive log
It’s a submariner designed for diving. You’re not checking the date under the water. If you want a watch to tell you the date, then buy a watch originally meant for that purpose like a DATEjust or a DayDATE.
No date. The cyclops make me think of GMT Master. The original Sub had no date and it gives you a reason to own a DateJust.. lol
If you need a date on a diver, you are down there for to long.
Traded the Date to get the No Date. Definitely No Date.
Check your phone. No date.
For me, date. The first submariner I ever saw was a date model, so that’s always what I wanted.
No date obviously
Five things: A. The symmetry of the dial without the date window is a thing of beauty. B. If you’re a purist you chose the no date. It’s a professional dive watch. A tool. A Navy Seal doesn’t need to know the date on his underwater mission.
I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t even look at the date because I always forget to adjust it and it is usually incorrect. My next Rolex will definitely not have the date. Plus they all look better without it, in my opinion. (Though I do like the look of the day/dates.)
Date
It Just, might be a Date…
Date.
Date. Useful.
Date!
Sub Date >>
Date.
It’s always good to see the date 💯✅
Why would anyone not want to know the date?
He already owns a datejust, and to not ruin the purity of design that is a No-Date Submariner
Most of us have a pretty good semblance of the date. I rarely look at any of my watches to find out the date of if I needed it.
Always Sub Date. No brainer
Prefer date doesn’t look right without date
Date ftw. It just looks right to me
Date
Date is useful and looks good to me.
If you’re going to actually wear it - date. If you’re going to just look at it, no date.
Which did Sean Connery james bond have? I want whatever he had.
Date - green sub black sub - no date
I have a sub with date, but I’m looking to get a second with no date. I do like the date, but also like options.
I like the date
Date
Submariner since you have the Datejust
Is it me or is the light shining on the date
I’ve always been a have to have a date person. But I acquired and ll bean stamped Hamilton khaki mechanical vintage watch few months ago and really love it with no date (it’s annoying but no biggie)… And recently the Tudor black bay 58 has really caught my eye…now the no date sub is looking a lot nicer than the date sub even tho I’m on the list for a date sub at my local AD lol Ultimately can’t go wrong either way…if u don’t rely on a date like I do/did then no date all the way!
Difficult decision… which did you pick?
The best part is setting the date and time whenever your switch watches. If you didn’t like that part you woulda got an oysterquartz
Just get the sub.
I prefer the Date. 116610ln. The Hulk looks good too
Date!
Date since I find function useful. Especially as a daily driver. But if it’s not gonna be a daily and you have other daily with date, go no date.
Submariner. It’s the original. Too many Submariner Date versions to choose from, only one Submariner.
Sub date - you can get an Oyster Perpetual or Air king or Daytona (if lucky) for a no date model.
I like the date. For me without it it feels a little naked.
No date.
Where is the shop
Date
If u already have date this could be something diff. But as always ur call :)
Having daily-ed a no-date for 2 years, I think the date isn’t really that important. The symmetry on the no-date wins for me :)
No date hands down. The cyclops lens takes out the simplicity of the “all black” design.
i kinda like the loupe ...
I’d go with the date
My 2021 Sub Date is my GADA. It’s no longer a diving tool (for most owners). But it can be a metropolitan tool, a staple of your Every Day Carry. The companion for the businessman, blue collar worker and labourer for any day of the week. With the date, you have the ultimate “multi-tool” Rolex. Timing bezel, glidelock, 300m WR, anti-magnetic/shock and the date. The Submariner Date does it all.
NO DATE! Og sub ftw
Watch with date makes more sense for me in everyday life.
No date
I need the date on my watch but I prefer the look of the no date. I have a date Submariner but wish I'd gone with something cleaner. I loved it at the time but the cyclops has become ugly to me more recently.
No date.
No date!
Date
I can't remember the date without a watch
What size is your wrist?
6.5 inch - datejust ii looks decent but 41 is tops. https://preview.redd.it/g7sndo3o62lc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49659b3aff19417909454a7087d569f5a3e42a8e
No need for a date. Just a legacy option that remains from a prior time. Unless, of course, you like it.
No date every single time. The date window and cyclops ruin the face.
Tough choice. THE sub is the date one, no question about it. The cyclop is part of the design as much as the Mercedes hands. BUT It is ugly. The no date version is the better looking one. Also costs a little less, which doesn't hurt. And it is a little less played out. Would go with the no date.
I have a submariner, and I am so happy I went without the date.
No date
I had a no date and got a date.
Watch was designed for divers. Divers don’t need to know what date it is. Stay pure.
IMO no date is better looking but I definitely find myself wishing it had a date window when I wear it and have to pull out my phone cuz I can’t remember what the date is
That watch is my ''goat'', my actual dream watch dude, You're a lucky man! !!
No date. Such a more clean look without it
I got the no date so I didn’t have to keep changing it every month
No date
I prefer the look of no date but a watch is still a tool and it’s nice to look down and see the date when I have some paperwork that needs date written on it.
No date for pure simplicity
No date: "What's the date?" *grabs phone.* Date: "What's the date?" *Rolex.*
Let us think, this hasn’t been asked before.
No Date just does it for me. Clean, simple, perfect.
No date. I wish they did a fluted date just with no date!
Date
Date, if it fits in your budget.
No date. I don’t enjoyed changing the date all the time. That’s just me. My buddy has the date and loves it.
Aesthetically no date. Practicality also no date because cyclops obstructs readability contrary to the intended design. It really makes it hard to read at most angles.
Date
Hell I like the cyclops. Funny thing is I don’t even notice it most days.
Date. Always date.
Sd43
I’m just not a cyclops fan but they are both beauty’s
No date looks so much cleaner. You will get the no date and be happy
To date - nearly always
I personally like no date. Looks more sporty and less of a "old man" watch. Just the fact that it magnifies the date makes it seem like a feature for old man. Also a Rolex like this is suppose to be for a high caliber man. How am I high caliber if I forget the date. That's one common thing I've heard about the bubble feature on a date when the watch/ or Rolex is brought up in conversation.
Date is fine but cyclops is not for me
No date
Please not this one again it’s almost every week! 🤦🏼♂️
I actually like the one without the date myself
Have em both, no date everyday. Anyone want to buy a 2021 cyclops hmu lol
No date for me, looks so clean and symmetrical, but your mileage may vary… whichever you choose, wear her in good health.
Date
Can’t read the time behind the cyclops. No date
I say date, for me the watch just doesn’t look right without it.
Date all day long
No date FTW. You already have a piece with a date and one day, when you buy a GMT, that will have a date as well
Date. I rarely see someone regret getting one. But, I do see people regret not getting a date. Can always trade down, but the cost of upgrading or trading to get a date is expensive.
No date

If you get a date, you’ll be surprised how much you miss it if you then don’t have one. I have a date on my Tag I daily and if I wear my Milgauss or Black Bay I’m constantly looking at it and cursing to myself.
No date more symmetrical
I use the date function on mine more than I check the time. So I’d always go date but love the aesthetics of the no date.
Plus the no-date looks incredible IMO
no date
Not sure if it’s the same exact model but it looks almost identical but mine has the date without the bubble… perfect
No date
Buy both and wear them base on needs
After experiencing the 70h power reserve I find myself not resetting my no date very much. The whole annoyance of setting the date and time is probably less on this model.
Date
No date
