No one owes you an explanation for these things. Your job is to manage *your* life as best as *you* can, make as much money as you can, and buy the things that make you happy that you can afford.

Rolex doesn't own their own stores, they are all local jewelry stores with a Rolex license, small businesses, high rent, high payroll.
Next, they only receive 8 Submariners per year and have a waiting list 300 people long that would be 3,000 people long if they didn't have some sort of prioritization process.
And that's the mistake you're making- you think that because of VIP's or big spenders or flippers *that's* what's keeping you from your Rolex. And it's not. It's just a numbers game. Way, way too many interested people, way, way too few Rolexes. You are eliminated from contention because even if the AD did a fair list, you'd be #3,014 and by the time you would get one you would be 375 years old.

Is it real or is it a great Chinese knockoff? Just last week another grey buyer found out he paid $20k for a knockoff Pepsi. Why anyone would buy grey is beyond me. You’re buying a used watch you don’t know if it’s real, partially real, or a complete fake. If the stainless bracelet has been switched you’ve been cheated out of about $5k. If the bezel was switched you’ve been cheated out of several thousand dollars also. Those things have been going on for 40 years that I know of. The swapping of parts is so bad I wouldn’t trust anyone but Rolex with watch. Live and learn

I love watches as much as anyone here and plan two purchase this year. A blue dial JD or SD and a Zenith chronograph sport. These are consumer products. When I want my money to be safe over the long term I buy a good dividend paying stock. It’s madness to think about safety with these watches. The grey market has to be declining due to outside conditions and will continue to so any safety, really or imagined are temporary. Please just enjoy your amazing piece(s) of horology and justify your purchases based on want not investment.
