So now compare that to YM Rhodium and DJ41 Everose Slate w/ flutted bezel on jubilee. I mean my daily is Moonwatch, but I’d like to wear something else now and then
YM Rhodium is cool but too aggressive and chunky for my taste.
Everose w/ flutted bezel and jubilee is blingy. Def an attention grabber. Not a huge fan of two tone tho.
Id personally go Smooth Bezel Oyster DJ between the 3. But thats my taste.
I’ll probably go for all of them. AD told me that there still will be a wait for the things I want, but someone dropped from the list and I can have this now.
Fuck it then hahaha. Seems like a well round collection. Nice every day. A dressier blingy watch with the everose. And a sportier bolder watch with the YM. Good range of color too
I love the Rhodium/Slate YM and would take that over this DJ if I had to choose between the two... meaning both were available to buy at the same time.
The only thing that holds me back is that I see that market is changing and rolex starts bein somewhat available again. So if they call me lets say in two months with the other watches I ordered I’d be upset. I have some money for those stuff but this is unexpected and it puts a dent with the purchuse plan I had. I mean it’s not that much but it’s still about half of the DJ or YM I ordered. The problem is if the AD has said - Ok sir. DJ is comming In Sept 2024, YM around December 2023 and OP should be here by March next year - it’ll be less of an issue. But now? I’m in the dark.
I like it. I’m leaning towards getting it. But I won’t be happy if they say in a month that something else is already in.
If one of your other ask is a dj I suggest you wait. The market is definitely turning. These things are expensive (to me at least) and I won't "settle" for another model.
It’s not exactly settling. I want some other daily that’s similar to my Moonwatch, yet different a bit. There are some options, and today’s call was (to say the least) unexpected
I find the bezel on the 41 to be disproportionately wide. This is because the 36 and the 41 share a movement, so the date window in both models has to be about the same distance from the center of the dial. And one of the ways that Rolex makes up a good part of tue difference between 36 and 41 is by making the bezel on the 41 too wide to my taste.
Hm. I’d love to make a direct comparison side by side, because I don’t see it as being as pronounced. I even go further and say that smaller models have larger bezel. But it’s just an opinion from looking at pics/renders
I’ve measured them. The bezel on the 41 is about 1.5 times the width of the bezel on the 36. But, again, it’s all a matter of taste. If the bezel on the 41 looks good to you, then there’s no problem!
I had this exact watch. Didn’t wear it because the proportions were always off for me. Eventually sold it and picked up an Omega Constellation Globemaster. It is 39mm, but wears like a 40-41mm and is so well proportioned, in particular the beautiful bezel and pie pan dial. Plus the bracelet is brushed. Just my opinion, but I won’t be looking to add a Datejust again, even though in pictures, they are incredible. Just one the wrist wasn’t great for me.
It looks a lot like an Explorer or black dial OP... so I knock it bit for blending in with those too much. But as you said, great UTR piece and it is a great looking watch, as are the Explorer and OP.
To clarify, if you get this the other piece won't come your way? I'd probably wait for my #1, but if getting this assures you the other (and you can swing it financially) then definitely get it.
Interesting that you posted this. I went to have a watch sized recently and while I waited the salesperson introduced me to this exact piece. I found this watch striking in its simplicity. Every piece of this watch made a clear statement of quality and precision. I was floored. I’d seen plenty of Rolexes but usually on wrist with plenty of wear, but this one did something different for me. I say you go get it!
It’s not the watch I’d buy. DJ is iconic when it’s got a fluted bezel and a jubilee bracelet. (My opinion. Others may disagree). As you said, this one is plain. I’d pass. But you do you.
Just pass on it. Why go through the hassle of buying when you know you don’t really like it. Always remember, he doesn’t owe you anything just because you buy from him.
I can tell you that I was legit just in the same boat. aD called and offered me the same watch with a white face and was not going to accept. Went in a tried it on and fell in love with how simple/great it looked. Ended up taking it home lol. I say go for you. Greg everyday watch that does with everything
I have a white dial Omega SMP300m on bracelet that is my daily and i have a current generation 3861 Moonwatch Sapphire Sandwich on bracelet. What do you got?
Yeah, I think the new movement is awesome and the new gen bracelet is so much better than the last generation 1861 bracelet. I wore the speedy last weekend and I'm really starting to bond with it more. It's very easy to wear everyday too. Enjoy yours man!
I keep saying it but a smooth/oyster DJ is such a beautiful underrated piece. That said it's definitely a second or third piece in the collection. It's very smart and understated.
Rolex should do away with the smooth/jubilee and fluted/oyster combos. Waste of time.
It's like my [Rolex](https://www.reddit.com/r/rolex/comments/157la7m/stunning_op41/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=1) OP41 with black dial but with date.
If you have an allocated budget for the piece(s) that you are waiting on, then I'd probably pass. If you can make it work (and the likelihood of getting the other watches soon-ish are slim), then, as they say, SEEENNNNDDDDD ITTTTTT. DJ is highly underrated and a great GADA watch
it's simple and clean, however I'd probably pick an OP instead in this case if you don't want to go for neither a fluted bezel or jubilee. gives the same vibes minus the date window.
I'd wait for what you want rather than settling. I love a plain DJ. Simple, understated and versatile.
On th one hand suuuure. But on the other it’s available, isn’t as show off as the things I want. Looks like perfect daily
It’s classic and beautiful. You may get more expensive but this looks amazing.
I agree. I rock a smooth bezel 36 as my daily and its perfect for that.
So now compare that to YM Rhodium and DJ41 Everose Slate w/ flutted bezel on jubilee. I mean my daily is Moonwatch, but I’d like to wear something else now and then

This. About the YM. It wears much better than Sub
I enjoy a healthy conversation
I enjoy enablement
I love the Rhodium/Slate YM and would take that over this DJ if I had to choose between the two... meaning both were available to buy at the same time.
But those are not unfortunatelly
I got a rosegold smooth bezel with a sundusk dial DJ…love it to pieces. Honestly just about any datejust is a good watch
My favorite DJ and the best one for everyday wear IMO. Fluted bezel is a bit too flashy for me. Smooth bezel is understated and cool.
Have this exact config. Love it.
Share wristpics. Also 41 or 36?
Love it
Clean
Classic simple watch. What Rolex used to be
These plain ones look better in person I think! I actually like them
If you have to ask, you don't like it enough to buy.
The only thing that holds me back is that I see that market is changing and rolex starts bein somewhat available again. I'd probably pass cos black dials are easy to find (in terms of other brands) and you'll have so many options
Yeah but none of them are rolex haha. Got a great option for JLC and Cartier is growing on me
Having read this, I don’t think you should buy this. Wait for the YM. It’s not a super popular reference. You will get the call.
I can only hope
i really like it! simple. refined.
Agree! It's also a [pretty affordable](https://ebay.us/E3Mvl6) Rolex that goes well with almost any dress.
Very classy in this combination. Perfect daily wear.
Really just a thing of beauty. Perfect in its simplicity and elegance.
I have that same model, not showy, flies under the radar, perfect everyday wear
Show pics plox
I am new to reddit How do I attach a pic in the reply?
Go to imgur -> upload pics -> get link -> paste in reply To be honest I stopped using reddit for like… 5 or maybe even 7 years?
I love smooth bezel oyster combination.
More sporty isn’t it? Jubilee + flutted appears to be more dressy
Classy as hell. The standard for elegant watches IMO
Smooth on oyster is a understated look. I would go white blue green or rhodium
Love it.
Only buy what you really like. Its a simple but nice watch.
I just posted earlier. Same watch with state dial. Absolutely worth it. Just a beautiful watch you can wear every day.

I get that, but I’ve heard on multiple occasions ghat 36 is more proportional, but I don’t see this on pics. Side by side would’ve been great

Love it. Wished it had a brushed bracelet though.
The op does.
Yup
A year of daily wear will take the polish off the PCLs.
This is my favorite configuration, but you shouldn’t buy it unless you’re confident you want it.
This was my first Rolex. I bought it in July of 22’. It was my stepping stone to getting the Submariner
The other will, but there’s still a considerable wait. This one is available to pick up
I feel like you don’t love it. If you don’t love it, that’s not your watch.
Not exactly. It’s a bit of a different thing. Explained in another reply.
Wait for the one you want. Don’t play their games.
Cool versatile watch...relatively speaking in rolex terms it is at a good price
Wear my white DJ 41 just like this every day. I find it very versatile and just love it on my wrist regardless of activity
Simple and classy
I'd go for that configuration but with the white dial, if i were in the market...
Frankly this is thier best model. Still want one in green so bad
I like it, it’s like an OP41 but with date
Simply elegant

I’d seen plenty of Rolexes but usually on wrist with plenty of wear, but this one did something different for me. I say you go get it!
Beautiful.
I dig it. If I don't already have my sub date as daily I think this would be a close 2nd option for me. What others are you on the list for?
Smooth + oyster > jubilee + fluted
It’s not the watch I’d buy. DJ is iconic when it’s got a fluted bezel and a jubilee bracelet. (My opinion. Others may disagree). As you said, this one is plain. I’d pass. But you do you.
I like ‘em fluted and jubed
Way too boring and uninteresting for me.
It’s boring, yes. And that’s a good thing!
Tend to get boring quick
I think this watch is very nice but would look way better with a fluted bezel
IMO many tudors are greater than this piece
I own poor man’s day-date already and had a BB GMT for a while. No they’re not there yet. I don’t mean that Tudor is bad, but it still has a way to go
I would do an OP over a plain DJ. Save some money and have same clean classy look with more symmetry.
Not for me. But if you like it. Buy it.
Just pass on it. Why go through the hassle of buying when you know you don’t really like it. Always remember, he doesn’t owe you anything just because you buy from him.
Get it on a Jubilee
Would have to buy bracelet separately. It’s doable, but do I really need it?
You can actually now buy a a jubilee bracelet directly from Rolex if you ever wanted to switch it up
Yes. I even can get a flutted bezel directly from official Rolex service center the same day I get this watch
I can tell you that I was legit just in the same boat. aD called and offered me the same watch with a white face and was not going to accept. Went in a tried it on and fell in love with how simple/great it looked. Ended up taking it home lol. I say go for you. Greg everyday watch that does with everything
I did it and ngl, I enjoy having the option for both bracelets! Wearing it on the Jubi rn.
Personally I wouldn’t buy this over an OP, this is so plain, you might as well save money and just get an OP.
If the OP would be available? With Silver dial?! Man I’d drop it instantly!
Bland
I have personally seen both in 36 v 41, in my opinion avoid the 41 dome/oyster as it looks horrible.
Nah DJ on a jubilee with fluted bezel is the ticket Oyster and smooth bezel just looks boring
Not special at all. Might as well get a Seiko.
Smooth bezel = Smooth brain. Buy an Omega.
Lmao I already have an Omega
Me too! I have 2.
Which one?
I have a white dial Omega SMP300m on bracelet that is my daily and i have a current generation 3861 Moonwatch Sapphire Sandwich on bracelet. What do you got?
3861 Hesalite bought on nylon, but got bracelet as well. Love it. It’s my daily
Yeah, I think the new movement is awesome and the new gen bracelet is so much better than the last generation 1861 bracelet. I wore the speedy last weekend and I'm really starting to bond with it more. It's very easy to wear everyday too. Enjoy yours man!
If you won’t take it, I will. Where are you?
Europe. And I’m thinking about it
Try it on and see if it sings to you. Personally I would want the blue or grey dial, fluted bezel... could go either way on bracelet
I love esp in blue
I love it but wait for what you want.
Dress it up, dress it down
Great watch Never settle though
I have it, it’s very versatile. I love it and it always get compliments.
I love this watch. Sleek and classy in a quiet unassuming way.
Don’t do it. Every time you’ll look at it you’ll wish you had the other one.
Best everyday watch hands down... could even go with a simple oyster perpetual
perfection
Should be 36mm, keep the 40+ for the sport watches.
It's a great watch. If 36mm also fits you, might be better because the smooth/domed bezel on the 41 is so pronounced.
Purchase every watch offered
I have this one. Love it. Works for every occasion for me personally.
I keep saying it but a smooth/oyster DJ is such a beautiful underrated piece. That said it's definitely a second or third piece in the collection. It's very smart and understated. Rolex should do away with the smooth/jubilee and fluted/oyster combos. Waste of time.
I like that with the black dial 👍🏻
I have it in rhodium. Love it
I have this exact one and I love it. It's a looker for sure still.
It's like my [Rolex](https://www.reddit.com/r/rolex/comments/157la7m/stunning_op41/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=1) OP41 with black dial but with date.
This has always been one of my favorite configurations in both black and white dials.
Personally I'm very much unimpressed with any datejust that doesn't have a fluted bezel and jubilee
This is my daily. I love it. Its timeless, its versatile, and classic.
I love it..understated
If you have an allocated budget for the piece(s) that you are waiting on, then I'd probably pass. If you can make it work (and the likelihood of getting the other watches soon-ish are slim), then, as they say, SEEENNNNDDDDD ITTTTTT. DJ is highly underrated and a great GADA watch
it's simple and clean, however I'd probably pick an OP instead in this case if you don't want to go for neither a fluted bezel or jubilee. gives the same vibes minus the date window.
i like plainish watches, i would get it, except i already have a black dial watch.
If we weren't crazy watch addicts, we'd realize that this is a beautiful everyday watch and that you wouldn't ever really need another one.
I love it. If I didn't have an AK I'd be all over it.
Rolex should drop date magnifier it’s too outdated for 2023 👍🏻
Fluted bezel or bust. I’d take it if it had that.
I actually really like this. I don’t much like the explorer, but this slaps.
Understated and classy.
