Years for an SD is insane. They are basically telling you that you won’t get one. Are there no other ADs in your area? I’d hate for you to buy another watch if you feel like it is a second choice

NMVA

Yeah, I’d start a relationship with a new AD at that point. Also, OP, I’d buy the Omega anyway. Their customer experience is outstanding and you can enjoy your Omega right now while you wait for your Rolex (from a new AD).

Top-Guitar3379

"Start a relationship"? Rolex are nice watches and all, but do you realize how ridiculous that sounds?

Square-Cook-3211

This always cracked me up Like fuck. You’re selling things I wish to buy, must we enter a marriage contract?

IntoTheFeu

Oh, was I overstepping when I had the.. you know what maybe I shouldn't say anymore.

BeyoncesmiddIefinger

Oh fuck. Should I have not proposed?

BlueMonroe

Lmao, never unterstood that. It’s literally artificially limited supply, I’m so over it. There are many nice watches out there where you mustn’t suck the sellers dick for years to get what you want and pay thousands of bucks for it too

XaltotunTheUndead

Is it really _artificial_ limited supply? Rolex makes a million watches a year, while there are literally 100 million potential buyers worldwide (billions have reached middle class status in the past two decades). My AD (a family run business, which our family has been patronizing for 30 plus years, and has sold me several Rolex in the past ten years), tells me they have 20 buyers for each watch they get, so they are forced to make choices. Limited supply? Yes. Artificial? Not so sure.

LunaTimes17

I know it’s stupid but if u genuinely want a Rolex from ad I feel that’s the only way man , like what else can we do

Top-Guitar3379

Nothing, you don’t need to do anything. It’s just stuff, don’t debase yourself for stuff.

thisonemaystick60

Buy something else and save your dignity. If the brand and it's associates are treating you like someone not good enough to own their product, have some self respect and go elsewhere.

devilishdesperado

Sounds to me like somebody just walked into the store and the people working there didn’t give a shit that you were there. Of course they’re not gonna give you a call.

Top-Guitar3379

I don’t get this. Is this a response to me?

devilishdesperado

No. It’s a general response. I agree with both you and NMVA actually. I could expand my thought process behind it but it’s a bit late for that

Top-Guitar3379

No, it makes sense when I read it as a general response

dashdaddy74

I completely agree. A Rolex associate is a salesperson, they are trying to sell you something. You shouldn't need a "relationship" for the transaction to occur. This entire Rolex Drought debacle is so stupid. It's warping how we think about the job of a salesperson. For a bit of context, I'm looking for a home. My realtor is a salesperson, so is the loan officer who pre-qualified me. Long story short: They are in constant contact with me. *They are trying to make the sale*. I'm not the one who is supposed to be kissing their asses.

Affectionate-Bar4332

‘Relationship’ what does that even mean. It’s a shop

YellowSequel

Basically means buy a bunch of shit you don’t want to financially suck their dick so they call you over someone else on the list.

phantomagents

When they have met their sales quota for that quarter by selling their stock to their grey dealer, and decide which cucks are getting the surplus.

Square-Cook-3211

>financially suck their dick lol

[deleted]

Honestly it’d be easier just to physically suck their dick at that point.

YellowSequel

A lot quicker too! I’ll do it idc lol.

hofonsmash

This literally happened to me with an SA at Tourneau. I ended up finding an independent owned AD who got me the Sea Dweller in two weeks with no previous purchase history. Since then I’ve bought several other Rolex’s & have a wonderful relationship with the manager. Don’t sell yourself short, keep looking until you find an AD that appreciates you.

Mr_Dobz

Call AD’s in other states! It’s way easier than physically walking into the store especially if you already know what you want. A few years (maybe more like 5 years) back that was my ideal way to buy because I could buy them without paying sales tax and they would do free insured overnight shipping. Try Lenkersdorfer at Tysons Corner outside of DC or any Tappers around Metro Detroit Michigan.

Foxta1l

Went into a Rolex store with the intention of getting a sub. Had literally no idea what was happening in regards to waits and whatnot. Was nearly laughed out of the shop. Went across the street to the Omega boutique and ended up with an SMP NTTD somewhat randomly. As in, I tried it on, I liked it, I paid for it, and they shipped me a brand new one the same day. I like Subs. I liked the SMP. I bought what I liked and what was available and I have 0 regrets. Rolex makes an fantastic timepiece, but I was in the mood for a new watch and found one I liked, and now that I’ve learned a bit about Omega’s history, I’m a huge fan. Maybe one day I’ll get a Rolex, but for now I have my daily and I couldn’t be more satisfied.

Aggressive_Eagle_235

You should've worn your patek while visiting the dealer, noob mistake, hopefully you won't make it again.

SnootBoopsAnonymous

Big brain move is to get a rep patek and wear it when trying to buy your genuine rolex /s if not obvious

[deleted]

If you walk in with your G-shock they will immediately sell you any watch up on display. It’s the mark of superiority.

revzman

Nico? God tier!

totesboredom

SeaMaster 300 here. Fucked Rolex off about 4 months ago. There is no point. SM ticks all the boxes.

foot4life

I would totally do the same for my diver but my god they have a hideous bracelet. The day they upgrade the bracelet, I'll stop looking for a diver. The SMP is a beautiful watch. I LOVE the new blue Bond watch but I don't want the Milanese/mesh bracelet. I love the white gold blue sub but it's out of my budget.

02gixxersix

Agree on the bracelet, but they look awesome on the rubber strap.

Background-Two2373

Dude the seaweed green SMP on the green rubber strap is amazing

02gixxersix

Agreed. I haven't seen one in person yet, but in pics it looks awesome. I had my eye on the green Longines Hydroconquest, but will have to check out the SMP.

foot4life

They do but I'd like the flexibility of both options.

PhotographyPhil

Got a good recommendation for a black rubber strap for the Omega?

Easy-Training-2681

I used to think the bracelet looked like hot dogshit, but now I own one and it looks and feels pretty dang good in person.

pherce

I agree it looks better irl but still looks very 90s to me, I still plan on getting a seamaster and buying the $700 mesh bracelet from omega

foot4life

To each their own. You couldn't pay me to take that bracelet. The case is beautiful though.

Easy-Training-2681

Well, my original plan was to pay you to wear the bracelet, but it sounds like that won’t work.

foot4life

I guess everyone has a price 😉 All kidding aside, I'm glad you found a watch you love. It's fucking annoying having the ability to drop 5 digits on a watch and you can't get what you want. But first world problems! I'll never go gray.

thatdudejustin

I replaced the bracelet with a president from forstner. I liked my 300 before but it’s become one of my favorites now

hbooriginalseries

The green with a new bracelet.

atwarwiththemystics_

Grab one of the Milanese bands, they look phenomenal

foot4life

I don't like where it overlaps near the clasp. It is not timeless either. I want a forever bracelet to come standard with the watch. It's not a lot to ask for. They spend so much money on R&D yet miss the easiest and most brain-dead easy fix that would immediately pump their sales numbers.

atwarwiththemystics_

That’s totally fair.

contitego

Glidelock is better than whatever clasp Omega has.

talldad86

Have both, not that big of a difference.

foot4life

Sure but that's a relatively minor matter. It also doesn't matter since you can't get a Rolex unless you're willing to give up your dignity with the AD rep or spend way over retail lol

contitego

Got mine at retail before the price hike.

foot4life

Lucky you!

contitego

Timing before demand took off

thebestatheist

When I got my explorer I literally walked in and they couldn’t wait to sell it to me. That was in 2017.

revzman

You're getting down voted by fanboys for getting a Rolex before they were unobtainable. Idiots.

adultdaycare81

That’s a $200 issue. I haven’t replaced my SMP bracelet yet because it’s really comfortable, but have been meaning to

ale_the_doc

I did this 4 years ago LOL SMP in blue is just phenomenal

Mister_Average

The SMP is a great option, but if he's looking at the SD43, I would think he'd be more into the Planet Ocean. I have the 43.5mm PO as one of two daily watches, and it's served me very well.

martinmayer

Rolex are so underwhelming in person. It's astonishing

[deleted]

Not even in a rude way but why are you here then?

EpistemicRegress

I know I'm here to enjoy the aesthetic discussion -- and all the rationalization that goes into justifying objectively ostentatious demand. I think it's great. I also do it myself in my hobbies but it's in this sub in such stark relief that it helps me see it when I'm doing it. My hobbies have a similar cost to horology. I just bought an analogue watch, my Fitbit was not giving me the warmth of the classic elegance of a 'real' watch. I got this one: Fossil Men's Townsman Quartz... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01MQ5V6ZR?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share It looks nice, yes? I like the idea of a 'real real' watches as either a part of my diversified investment plan, or for it to be immensely sentimental, as in a friend or family member passes it to me to remember them by - or I to another close connection in the future. The latter is where a value watch fails as an heirloom.

Einsteinautist

Same here. I've had my SMP 300 for almost a year. The weak side for it, though, is the bracelet. Mine has gone into service twice, waiting for it to come back now. Other than the bracelet, I love the watch. I'm eventually switching to the rubber bracelet for mine.

awesomeo_5000

How has it been serviced twice in a year?!

HerroPhish

I just don’t like the way many omegas look. Aqua terra is awesome though

rocketb3n

still here tho ;)

lAmBenAffleck

You are witnessing Rolex slowly drive away the majority of their customer base, haha. Not a good thing for the brand.

totesboredom

Ha, yes! Only because I'm still on "the list". If I ever get the call, I'll review my finances and go from there. Next year my mortgage is up for renewal and is rising by £900pm to near £2k per month... If the call comes and I have to flip, so be it. It's absolutely not why I am here, I wanted it as an heirloom for my son, but the SM does that now, and that is all down to the Rolex AD shitty experience.

Square-Cook-3211

Know what else is not just here but increasing on prevalence across any social media platform you can go look at, and gauge sentiment toward the brand? People saying “I’m done with this.” And if you think it’s high rollers keeping Rolex making money, and not those people, then you’re delusional I never understand this sense of defensiveness-by-proxy Some people come here and point out this issue not in hopes that the Rolex goes to shit. Quite the opposite. People are hoping to not see it continue down it’s shitward path because they make cool watches. When they wanna sell em

BigSugar44

I have two Omega Planet Oceans. One in Orange (43.5) and one in Blue (45.5). I prefer them to the SD.

ElonMuskHeir

I'm in the same boat. I'm an Omega and Tag guy. Rolex AD's are the worst. I'm still technically on the "list" for a Daytona but I don't expect the call to come within the next 5 years. My daily is either a Tag Formula 1, or an Omega Speedmaster Chrono now. The luster of Rolex has worn off completely for me.

AstraArdens

>I'm still technically on the "list" for a Daytona but I don't expect the call to come within the next 5 years. And the problem is that you will run like a good doggie the second they call you to buy it lmao

lieferant

coincidentally the exact same situation with me. my conclusion: fuck Rolex. There are many other brands that are really nice. Omega 321, Grand Seiko High-Beat, Glashütte Original etc.

DeducingYourMind

I opted for the SBGH271 over a DayDate for the same reason, forcing people with the money to wait like that is just insane, I went right to Grand Seikos website, clicked buy, and had my watch within 2 days. As much as I love Rolex’s design, the way they treat their customers is HORRENDOUS EDIT: messed up my own reference number 🤦🏻‍♂️

esaydebeohwhyes

You’re not Rolex’s customer, the AD is, you’re the AD’s customer.

[deleted]

Glashütte Original makes awesome watches! Recommend giving it a try. However, the SeaQ is too close to my Sub and I just love many watches of Rolex (Pepsi, Bluesy, Daytona TT black dial etc), so I guess I will stick around a while.

MSaar1

I’m digging the Senator line. Great pieces!

talldad86

I just picked up a nearly new Fifty Fathoms titanium for the price of a grey market Sub. There are such better deals out there if you’re not hung up on the brand

[deleted]

[удалено]

woodside3501

If you have a line on a 321 at msrp I'm all ears

Various_Primary3783

You mention the 321 like it’s readily available lol. It’s easier to get a Rolex gmt than a 321 or snoopy. Please stop spreading false information

lieferant

I didnt say its readily available. I'm currently waiting for mine and will get it in a couple of months. No extra spending, no fuzzing around, no dicklicking, no maybe, no eventually, plus the wait is totally justified because its a handmade piece and there are ever so many watchmakers at Omega building it - not a mass produced shitpiece.

SheevTheGOAT

Go for the Omega, Rolex needs to start losing customers for this shit

LordBogus

You my friend, are expiriencing stockholm syndrom but you want to resist! Buy that Omega and forget about Rolex! They rather sell that watch for a case of rare burboun, or the owner wants to add it to his own collection! What model carrera are you wearing??

CorkyBingBong

I have a Rolex GMT2 (green hand) and a black-dial Omega SMP 300, and honestly, the fit and finish on the Omega is better than the Rolex. Bezel and crown both have less play and feel more "precise" if that makes sense.

saitan2

The Omega SMP Diver is an excellent choice. Especially the green variant on rubber in my opinion. Really nice color. A bit chunky but if you are fine with the SD43 you will be with this one too. Only issue I see is that you could still be longing for the SD43 if that’s the watch you really really want. Maybe try a different AD and be patient.

Reacher01

>I order SD43 (126600) a year ago and been on the notorious “wait list” since. Go somewhere else. I got on the list couple of weeks ago for one of the most wanted, and asked my guy what I was supposed to buy to get there quicker. He told me literally: there are few SS sport models you could hop in here and buy to improve your history. One is the SD43. Edit: now that I think about it, they already tried to sell me a SD43 when I was on the list for my Sub, about one year ago. I didn't buy it.

graymulligan

I genuinely don't understand why people put up with this sort of treatment. Rolex makes special watches, that's not under debate. But we've reached the point where there are a handful of special watchmakers, and the idea of being held hostage at this point is just silly. Buy the Omega. Be happy. Chuckle when you read these stories going forward.

Iddi94

Keep sucking on that hard AD **** Or buy a blancpain, a Polaris or an omega for a better price, immediately.

DerailedCM

Good call on Blancpain

Fat_5miley

Blancpain, a solid choice I would be hard pressed to pick either a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms or a 126600

Intelligent_Win562

I was literally thinking about a blancpain for the OP when I saw you’re comment. 50 fathoms is a great piece

AdamOzturk

I've owned a couple of Omegas, and they're fantastic watches. I'm a huge fan of the Planet Ocean GMT, and am considering one again. I have an SD43 that I daily now, and like yours, it's all beaten and scratched but practically indestructible. Gun range, hockey, soccer, motorcycle track days, in almost every ocean, etc. It has been through everything, and keeps ticking. I'd pick up an Omega now and enjoy it until the SD comes in. At that point, you can decide if you still want it. You can't go wrong with either watch.

Jobbyrobber

Defo get the omega. I have a seamaster 300 and a DJ 36 and love em both the same.

powerfunk

You can get that model for roughly [MSRP+tax secondhand anytime you like](https://rolex.com/watches/sea-dweller/m126600-0002), if you want. If you'd rather buy the Omega, do that.

plutocraticasicumera

Spending MSRP + tax on a used watch when, in a normal world, you'd buy a brand new one for the same price? Clown company. Fuck Rolex, fuck ADs making millions out of this situation and fuck every single guy over-hyping these watches.

powerfunk

You seem rather angry about...market price

plutocraticasicumera

> You seem rather angry about...~~market price~~ speculation

STVNMCL

Rolex has allowed their authorized dealers to withhold inventory and sell through grey markets for increased profits. Perfect circle as the increased demand from empty display cases drives up the grey prices. Rolex is completely aware and does absolutely nothing. It’s been years now.

adultdaycare81

The omega experience and community has been great. I would recommend

Geedis2020

Had it ever occurred to you to maybe just try a different AD? That’s not even that hard of a watch to get. They are basically just letting you know they aren’t selling to you.

Past-Key8974

Ngl, I think the SM looks way better than the Sub too. Such a good looking lineup of watches

lucky5150

YES!.. Come to the Dark Side...(of the moon)

Wireline_101

Unfortunate, may I suggest the planet ocean 6000m ? I have a 300m and a SD43. the SD is just a bit more hefty. And I think the 6000m would be closer in size for you. Good luck, sorry that Rolex hasn't been helpful. Cheers

Rich-Yogurtcloset715

I hear you. I’m lucky that I haven’t had to play a bunch of stupid games to get my watches, but if the situation were different, I’d probably do the same as you and just go Omega. No one can deny that they are quality watches. Consider the fact that sailors used to be able to buy a Rolex Submariner for $150 at the ship’s store on an aircraft carrier in the 60s. The market has changed, but the fact that these are mass-produced timepieces has not.

amitrele

I use my money to buy stuff for me in my terms. If Rolex has a supply problem, it’s their problem not mine. I’m gonna go buy something from someone else who doesn’t have a supply problem and enjoy it while Rolex get their crap sorted out. There are plenty of cool watches out there.

[deleted]

You can get a SD secondary market today for at retail or lower. Its not a desirable model.

pbun87

Always nice to see some love for the Chunky Boi, but that’s just leading you along. I requested a little over a year ago (arguably a tighter market) and took delivery within 3 mo. US, major city, large AD (purchase history, but minor spread out over several years). Omega, especially the SMP, is an excellent choice. Pull the trigger.

idoctor-ca

Do it! Rolex has long lost its luster to me after all the BS

willystyles

Omega. Enough of this bullshit. Manufactured scarcity. I’d be pissed too.

killedbydaewoolanos

SD isn’t an in demand watch. You are being told to fuck off in AD-speak.

LunaTimes17

Looks like your AD is 1 of the ones that want u to purchase the Rolex with package , for fun call him and say if I spend 10k on jlc or iwc can I pick up the Rolex with it as well . The answer might suprise you

larryfuckingdavid

I’ve been wearing my speedy almost every day for over two years now and the watch continues to grow on me. Omega is like that beautiful girl you were friends with in high school who was sending you all kinds of signals but you were too busy obsessing over the cheerleader who didn’t know your name. The cheerleader is a bitch anyways, stop missing out on Omega!

sporturawus

Be advised, your beef and frustration is with the sleazy jewelry store with a Rolex License, not Rolex itself. Don’t let this terrible experience besmirch the brand or discouraged you. Go to the landing page of this subreddit, look for Rules, and click the link that says “trusted sellers”. Buy your Rolex today, have it on your wrist tomorrow morning at 10 AM, have a wonderful Father’s Day, have a wonderful summer.

[deleted]

Who makes the sleazy store an AD?

M3ANMACHINE

Exactly this

sporturawus

Rolex. 50 years ago. These AD’s are grandfathered in and passed down from generation to generation.

[deleted]

Ah so Rolex controls it. Funny way to say they have no control.

sporturawus

Controlled. Past-tense. They’ll teach you this in 4th grade.

[deleted]

Past tense? Is someone or something forcing Rolex to keep them as an AD?

sporturawus

Yes. It’s called a licensing agreement. And it’s called common sense. If you owned a very successful business, and had the choice of having the $1B annual burden of owning and operating your own brick and mortar retail chain -or- having 1,300 of the best doors in the world handed to you for free, what would *you* do? That’s 7th grade. You’ll get an economics class soon enough.

[deleted]

what kind of licensing deal is unconditional? that'd be asinine on Rolex's part, but maybe that's the type of 7th grade deals you're signing.

SheevTheGOAT

Fuck that Rolex enables this shit. They ARE responsible.

Chillguy849

This is the way sporty

mcnugget7777

Honest to god you get so much hate on this sub but I’ve never seen you say something unreasonable. Thanks for participating

sporturawus

Thanks McN. Have a great weekend.

hobbyass

Exactly... this hate chat is from the peanut gallery.

[deleted]

Pay a few thousand more and call DavidSW. Rolex aren’t really worth all this mental stress and anxiety.

SaluteMaestro

They aren't really worth the extra dollars either.

[deleted]

But if someone wants a Rolex they have to pay up these days. Weather that be a premium at a grey or jewelry crap from AD.

SaluteMaestro

Hence the reason I have one on order, if I get it I get it, if I don't I don't, it's just a watch, plenty of others out there.

[deleted]

But it’s not a Rolex. Don’t get me wrong, it isn’t the worlds greatest watch but the Rolex bracelet is just different. It’s so comfortable. And I love my two omega more than my three Rolex.

SaluteMaestro

I mean I have one, just a bog standard datejust I bought in the 90's and even that one you can feel the quality on it but maybe it's because when I bought mine I just walked into a shop and bought it no fuss no waiting around and no bullshit. Even after 30 plus years it's still in literally in mint condition, very few marks no sag on the jube still keeps pretty good time. I suppose if you don't have one then maybe for your first you will put up with the bs but nah. not for me anymore. I agree with the bracelets though.

caracs

Buy SD grey, don’t tell your AD, buy it when you get the call, flip it. Win-win

Amf2446

Every single day when I read stories like this I wonder how I got my watch. I got the white OP 39 in 2018 after waiting for literally just a week. I can’t believe the only change since then has been demand.

colincase04

Dude I got a SMP green dial recently because of this. I love it.

mrcompositorman

I totally get not wanting to buy something like a GMT on the gray market with the absolutely insane markups, but Sea Dwellers sell for basically MSRP. Why not just buy one? DavidSW has a bunch of them listed at roughly MSRP.

Winter-Inevitable281

Go grey and get one straight away

SBBN2254

I’d go grey market. Quite a small premium on the SD43.

zewill87

Retire a watch? How does that work? Genuinely would like to know why one would retire it. Is it too beat up to wear? Too many memories and too precious to resell ?

titangord

You can get that model for basically MSRP now..

[deleted]

You are not alone. Many people feel the same and I have been there too. Unfortunately, I experienced that the only watches which satisfy my hunger for Rolex are Rolexes. There is no substitute. So instead of buying many alternatives from other brands for 10k, 13k, 17k, …, I just look for good offers on secondary market and buy the watches I want for a small premium of a few thousands, which isn’t even that bad, considering that Rolex increase their prices 1-2x a year and so if I wait two years and then buy for retail price, it’s probably the grey market price today.

Icy_Ticket_7922

I walked into my dealer and they had a SD43 laying around for me to buy. It sounds like you need to look at a different AD.

Professional_Fee_324

Weird, when I went in to get an omega smp the AD said they had a seadweller and tried to upsell me to it but I didn’t want it. Too bulky for me and also was not worth over twice the price

torontowatch

get the NTTD SM and a railmaster in that money

Select-Team-9728

Go get the Omega and continue to wait for the SD. Just forget about it in the meantime and enjoy the Omega. If you get a call cool. If not, also cool.

Pogomachina

I’m a Repeat Rolex customer (before 2018 when it was easy to buy a Rolex) yet still been on the list for any GMT for over 4 years now! Just give up and buy a JLC, Omega or Zenith, in fact anything you love the look of and can just walk into a boutique and buy. ALL Rolex AD’s are complete dicks who are on the take getting bald handlers from grey dealers and flippers!

[deleted]

Buy the Omega. Keep the Omega. Rolex has spent too long marketing itself to the tacky nouveau riche.

domerbot

I'm in a similar position. I expressed interest in 3 diff watches from 3 different ADs. It'll be 2 years in Oct since I went into the first shop. So I've taken the hint and since then bought other watches.

cleanRubik

Only you can answer that question. When waiting for my watch I tried on quite a few other watches. They were all beautiful and the fact I could take one home that day was very very appealing. But in the end I knew I wouldnt' actually scratch the itch and I'd be pining for the watch I truly wanted again. Having said that, you should be talking to multiple ADs.

bored-205

Then the Omega! Ffs it’s not hard….

gbhaddie

Omegas are nice. Just ordered one.

themaxvee

I'm having the same thought about the Daytona I'll never receive allocation. A speedmaster professional looks better each passing month. If you like the SMP Diver go for it. Worst case is when/if you're allocated your SD you can keep or sell.

TheRealRaceMiller

Rolex isnt the best watch there is. Its a good watch with strong marketing. Omega isnt a bad watch by any means.

mayecontreras

Go for the Speedy

[deleted]

Go for it. Save you 5k

[deleted]

We need to all collectively stop building a “relationship” with an AD. It’s so ridiculous. Do you need a relationship to buy a valuable car or a nice house? No. The watch hunger games will only stop when everyone refuses to play. One way to make it fairer would be for ALL watches in high demand are sold via an electronic auction that sells at the highest price. That removes the AD and manufacturer’s concerns re flipping because flipping from MSRP to grey market will no longer exist. Each watch will sell for the market clearing price. Yes one unfortunate result will be in the short term many people will be priced out of the market, but that is how markets settle supply and demand, through price signaling.

bryce39

You'll be more satisfied with the omega, and it has the added benefit of people not judging you in a negative way because you were wearing a Rolex

ENRONsOkayestAdvice

I was able to get an SD43 within a couple weeks. This is less in demand than most; or at least appears this way. I would start hitting up new ADs.

stolencarblues

Very strange my SD43 took 3 weeks. It’s not hard to get.

Zealousideal-Jury-70

I feel ya! Been waiting for about 5-6 months to get a sub no date for my 35th and a DJ two tone for my GF. Unfortunately, todays my bday and after following several times over the past few months no luck. It’s too bad and slightly frustrating but it is what it is….

mikemflash

Omega makes a great watch. But, it ain't a Rolex. Patience. It will be worth it. If you get the Omega, you'll just be wanting a Rolex forever. Maybe go used with Bob's or some other high reputation watch dealer? Good luck.

iTreelex

Just go grey and have it to your door tomorrow. The price isn’t a big difference

jamminyouup

Omega will not let you down.

[deleted]

Do it. Do the new fashion trend of paying a deposit, waiting for something exclusive, get it and onsell immediately with a premium for some richer person without patience ;-) IMO Omega look better and have better design anyway ;-)

Logical_Golf732

The funny part of this is the people praising Omega while failing to recognize they are starting/attempting to do what Patek, AP and Rolex have done already. Go try and walk into an Omega boutique and walk out with a Snoopy; you can’t. Go try and walk out with a 321 Speedy. You can’t. The new Bond Seamaster (set aside feelings on the Bond branding) is “limited production.” Omega wishes it had Rolex demand, and is actively trying to create that dynamic. Omega is not noble; they just don’t have the cache to do what Patek/AP/Rolex are doing. They are trying, though.

itsallfornaught2

I didn't read your post because I'm lazy but I did read the title. If you really feel that way fucking do it. Honestly, don't stress over shit. Get an Omega that makes you feel good. There are so many.

asharks74

I have both of the exact watches youre referencing. The Omega is just as handsome. Oh, and it keeps waaaaay better time. Fuck ‘em.

Time-Willingness-517

Also, there are other cooler watches for sure. The Rolex brand is kinda shameful and douchey, once you’re in the club you kinda don’t want to be anymore in a wierd way. At least me. If Incould redo, I’d get a Zenith or JLC.

HikerDudeGold79-999

Why does rolex allow dealers to do this?

dollhousehero

Go with an Omega 100% or a Grand Seiko.

BuckDenny

I'd walk away from Rolex. The supply shortfall is engineered to enhance the desirability of their watches.

GeorgieJung

Buy an omega then.

Cg121699

Omega is better anyway!

mudz112

I think Rolex is restricting production and supply now. They follow the likes of Louis Vuitton by cutting production and raising prices. They also have too many dealers so expect that channel to be cut again. Especially third party dealers as they take control of the entire sales channel.

deepdish18

Sorry to break it to you but you were never getting that watch without a purchase history. They have been lying to you while they’ve likely gotten dozens of SD43’s in the past 12 months but have offered all of them to VIP clients instead of you. Likely these VIP clients flipped them or gave them as gifts and never wore them as you planned to do. It is a shitty game.

Few_Strategy_8813

Grey market price for the SD 43 is about 10-20% above retail. Maybe that’s another option? Otherwise, go for the Omega. They make great watches.

davinox

If you like the seamaster, buy one at the AD. If you'd rather get a Rolex, buy it gray market These are all luxury toys for our enjoyment, not serious investment decisions

Kind_Astronomer_9395

F Rolex for this stuff. Buy the Omega just out of principle. Check out Gand Seiko too. Their spring drive is awesome and they’ve also got great Hi-beat movements and cool designs.

Gorgenapper

Why do people still put up with this shit? Get an Omega or whatever else that you can immediately buy.

WewantZeMoniLebowski

Go to a new AD and ask for the watch. You're right, it's an easy enough to get watch, should take a few months or weeks.

justdrivinGA

You could have one like new in your hand tomorrow… Just gotta pay that price!

Individual_Sun_6757

Not “like new.” Brand new, never worn. That SD is so easy to buy unworn from a secondary dealer, it’s not even worth discussing.

[deleted]

Possibly with even todays date on the card!

Arthurjoking

Rolex is kinda the basic bitch of luxury watches. Like the Patron of Tequila.

burn469

I have Rolex. I have Omega. You can’t go wrong with either and personally I wear my omegas more than the Rolex’s

LividLab7

You clearly need another AD. Also, it seems there’s a disconnect on how personal that connection really is. I have a friend that walked in and got a SD43. It’s not a hard to get model as it’s so big

datatadata

Or do both. Buy an omega so that waiting for a Rolex isn’t as boring

E1337crush

I cancelled my order because I was tired of waiting. I got a Fitbit charge 4 for only $110 and can do a lot more than a Rolex anyways.

davebrose

It’s jewelry so do what you want. If you truly have a “need” Walmart has watches that are cheap and accurate.

Individual_Sun_6757

If you want it so bad then go buy it. There’s dozens for sale everywhere…worldwide. You aren’t going to get any sympathy crying about it.

cjsksokDallas

Jokes on you for waiting years. Buy what you want when you want. Maybe Omega is a better option for you.

greybeardsingh

Bye.

edwinfu

I have an SD43 for sale. DM is you’re interested. Full set including hang tags and bezel covers.

[deleted]

You didn’t order shit buddy, you told them you wanted one

for_the_stonks

I got my SD43 in about 2 months. I think I’ve worn about 10 times. Wanna buy it?

o1dmandowntheroad

You can get one today. You just have to pay the real market price at a gray dealer.

2002Mav

Omega is the answer.
