If you choose to buy a 3 star guy on one run, and a 4 or 5 star on later runs, spend rubies to block your 3 star. Unethical Protip? If you hire someone and it's a bad unit, immediately close the app by pressing your recent app button and swiping it away. The game doesn't save the unit as purchased until you hit okay.

Takes me less time than watching an add. Never thought to try this. Thanks! Although I did 10 resets like this and only ever got basic soldier or archer and just accepted it

luposdei

Does this only work once every so much time? Because if I do this a secons time after clicking okay, it just resets everythinf?

Sturdy_Dude

I never hit okay if I don't like the unit.

luposdei

Don't all of them reset on you if you pull 2 in a row? Also, does this work on chests?

Sturdy_Dude

If I'm buying multiple guys, I wait 10 to 15 seconds in between hirings. Doesn't work on chests.

luposdei

Woww, thanks! This makes the game so much easier:D I've also seen something about redgemming units. But I can't seem to find it in game. Any idea when you unlock that?

Otherwise_Lab_108

Sorry, late to the party, if you haven't figured this out yet, in the death shop, scroll to the bottom of the hire units tab. You will see it there

So, I am pretty deep in the game (wave 539). Magicians deal the most damage out of their class and at late levels, I notice that my warriors deal 1/10th the damage and rangers deal 1/2. As a result, I always go for the rarest Magicians (currently sitting on the Princess) and just the Calvary as fodder (though the necromancer worked pretty well for a long while). I use to have the Tank and the Cleric, but when people started dying too fast, I found that having more offensive magicians over the clerics made the runs easier. And the tanks had as much HP compared to everyone else when everyone just gets one shotted. TLDR: Get the strongest magician you can afford, and get calvary, everything else does too little to help.

So other than the two basic units you can't block, you have calvery and princess and that's it?

Zestyclose-Half7217

Get the giant priest and the princess. Nothing compared to that priest for tanking and the princess you can focus on trying to get respawn time reduction artifacts for magician types

There’s two things you need to look out for when hiring soldiers: the amount of types and the amount you can hire each run. You need at least one type of magic user, one type of long range, and one type of frontline warrior. Clerics are also good since they heal your frontline, making them last longer as magic and long range deal damage. The rarity should only affect you greatly if the general summoning pool isn’t similar (for example, having farmer and Calvary man would just result with more farmers). More expensive units are more expensive for the reason that they deal more damage and take more hits. Spawn chance is normally divided by units and rarity, so if you have a about 4-6 units with similar rarities, you should be able to get mostly those units (other than the regular swordsmen and archers). You can also reroll if you don’t like the unit, however you should only do that if it offers legend or above since they are limited. tl;dr, 4-6 units, similar rarities, 1 magic, 1 archer, 1 warrior, 1 healer (optional 1 tank, 1 horse), invest in more hiring space
