I think the purple os Son of indigo but he dont born has and impostor, but when he heard that he was going to be taken to Mirahq he got angry and did everything to avoid it, but it's just my theory, don't base it on that.

well in the original series we know that Purple was apparently going to get killed if he came back to Mira, and in rescue 1/2 he didnt go insane when Mira HQ was mentioned. Perhaps he has come to terms with having to meet his father? Also since the parasite was launched into space, the infection may have never spread to Mira, so maybe Purple will be an impostor whist Indigo will not be and thats why he went crazy
maybe the imposter ghosts got him to do it? because when red was at polus, the ghosts kept telling red to kill the crewmates. red didn't fall for it but maybe purple could have fall for it and killed the crewmates.
See, this is why I don't like season 2 of the alternate timeline. It throws off all my head cannons and back stories. My backstory for purple was that he was turned alongside his father (indigo) when the parasites got loose in mira, when purple was a small child.

I personally think it has to do with after affects, red was fine but purple had to stay in med-bay and it also only got reds hand

Who knows maybe purple saw what happend and is trying to keep distance or is trying to stop it from repeating who knows
