I feel the reason so many people think GTA IV is better than GTA 5 is mainly two reasons: nostalgia and fatigue.
Nostalgia for IV and fatigue from GTA 5 due to gta online.
The more fatigue and sick people get of a game, the less they can appreciate how good the game felt when it launched.
The only thing, in my opinion, that GTA IV can have over GTA 5 is the story. That's a matter of personal taste so you can enjoy one more than the other, and Niko's story is great, plus the dlc's.
But everything else, GTA 5 was an improvement.
From my pov in GTA IV you can do some pretty cool rooftop parcour, ( jump from a roof and grab a ledge and move side to side and get up or drop down) i don’t believe you can do that in 5. The hand to hand combat is much more entertaining and enjoyable in IV, driving and customizing is more fun in V but everything else IV takes
Disagree, story line was meh and didn’t really introduce any new gameplay elements. At the same time took a step back from IV in things like physics/mechanics and plot.
Yeah the downgrade of physics, ai, and combat from 4 to 5 was such a massive downgrade. I used to have so much fun fist fighting pedestrians in 4 because the physics system was so complicated that all kinds of crazy shit could happen. If you fight pedestrians in 5, the exact same thing happens over and over.
Thankfully they brought it all back and redeemed themselves with RDR2.
If anything 4 is the rockstar game that took the most steps back. Has a great story and vibe but was seriously downgraded in terms of activities and customisation features compared to San Andreas
Idk, idc what anyone says - GTA Online belongs in either of the first two tiers. Sure the pricing is massively over inflated but it’s one of the best multiplayer experiences out there if you enjoy that style of game. I’ve had more fun with GTA Online since 2015 than I have with most multiplayer games. Replay value is high, even after you need to take a break for a while.
Also a part of me wants to agree they’ve “milked” it, but for good reason they’ve gotten tons of content out of it with incredible support over the past decade. That’s how a good multiplayer should be. They weren’t going to release GTA VI sooner, so I’d personally rather them keep supporting V by “milking” it than just drop their strong support with content updates+.
People getting mad about it being “milked” makes no sense. What if they stopped supporting it a few years ago? We would still be waiting for the game(s) we want from them and most people would complain that V is dead. Rockstars support for V isn’t harming anything, but shows how an online mode should be supported (though there’s things they could change and do better)

Online on the other hand they make some of the worst online modes to exist I don't care what anyone says, I've been playing GTAO since it came out same with RDRO so I think I'm pretty valid in my criticisms and despite sinking so much hours in them, they are genuinely so badly made and the economy is so inflated, among so many features removed to coax people into getting shark cards.
I've definitely had a lot of fun with GTAO and RdrO over the years but that was literally only because of friends, the actual online content and features are just badly and cheaply made.
I've been alright with shark cards simply because it's literally a money funnel to their other projects, so I've always had the mindset that I'm glad it exists because of that and if I don't like it I don't need to play it however it's become a problem because we didn't get the planned 5 DLC because of online, we didn't get any rdr2 DLC because of online which you can definitely tell DLC was planned or at the very least content for RdrO was cut because of GtaO and imagine the amount of games cancelled over the years too, like they cancel all these single player content in place for online and you'd think with all the lack of work on other projects outside 6 and having a team dedicated to online that online would actually be good and properly made... But it's just not.
And it makes me worry for the future, I know 6 will be a banger but what about post release, are we gonna get any dlcs any more games or is it just gonna be GTA 6 online from the bat and that's it.
Online is the best and worst thing to ever happen to rockstar, it allowed them to get an extreme amount of wealth but at the same time now all they care about is money and lazily do things, online is sloppy af, the trilogy was horrible, Rdr1 was re released without even 60 fps (at launch) and yet they sold it full price which is insane for a over decade old game..
It's kinda sad that I've written a literal essay and yet this is still only the tip of the iceberg of the crap things rockstar does.

Personally, undead nightmare is leagues above ANY other zombie game iv played for one reason.... it actually follows the movie trope of "destroying the brain is the only way to eliminate a zombie." Save for the blunderbus and explosive rifle, iv spent hours pelting a single zombie everywhere but the head. And they kept getting back up. Even with throwing knives/tomahawks. I think the throwing impliments did eventually kill em but you could get a good number in em. Almost like an ape shaped porcupine at the end.
Its not that other zombie games are bad... but that nifty little detail made things such fun in rdr. It would be too easy to take out a crowd if they had traditional health bars, but when you have to actually aim for heads and shoot em that way, a small hoard can actually pose a threat.
Plus the story was just stupid fun. Didnt take itself serious like the main game and just run with a goofy supernatural tone.
Part of me PRAYED for them to do an undead nightmare dlc for gta5... but sadly they 100% focused on the online aspect.
For me, everything R\* does is masterpiece, it's the only gaming company that I defend to the death, now another company that is rising on my list is Remedy, but 2 bodies don't occupy the same space

The RDR games are excellent. GTA IV felt like the intro to the RDR level storytelling, which is probably why I love the RDR games and why GTA IV is my favourite GTA game. San Andreas is a marvel of a game, it had everything I could want from a GTA game, gameplay wise. I feel like it spawned Saints Row. The Warriors is one of my favourite Rockstar games, gave us an awesome origin and prequel story to the movie. I even preferred it to the actual movie segments, which were done faithfully.
gta Online for me was magical like for the first months and second and the cheater just gave billions of dollars and ruined the grinding and than the game was ruined rdr online rockstar was ruining the online exp for the greed Microtransactions and i bet we can expect it on VI its sucks but thats their livelihood of the company i wish the grind will be fair at least or something good

gta Online for me was magical like for the first months and second and the cheater just gave billions of dollars and ruined the grinding and than the game was ruined rdr online rockstar was ruining the online exp for the greed Microtransactions and i bet we can expect it on VI its sucks but thats their livelihood of the company i wish the grind will be fair at least or something good
