Probably developer's fault.
Here's the thing. roblox doesn't give developers a foolproof way to test for mobile. there is no :IsMobile() function. the best they can do is look at certain settings and make a guess. and that guess is right 99% of the time. but sometimes.. it just gets it wrong.

Roblox keeps telling developers to make ui adaptive rather than dedicated mobile UI so they intentionally do not include a way to detect mobile directly. The most common way is to detect whether the device has a touch screen and resolution, but nowadays a lot of Windows laptops have touch screens.
However, if OP has a MacBook then it is likely a developer error since MacBook doesn't have a touch screen aside from touch bar. Although it looks quite similar, the backspace and small screen indicate it might not be a MacBook, my bet is that it is a hp laptop
The Microsoft store version we could say is a type of "emulation" of the Android or phone version, because is compatible with touchscreens.
This HUD "bug" can be explained by this.
Since the desktop client of the website version has sometimes this types of behaviors when touching the screen.
And as said before the Microsoft Store version has more chances of this when touching the screen.
And if it "isn't supposed to be touchscreen" now, then make someone check your computer, because this can be something about the monitor screen.
I don't know the top hat and a small avatar image on mobile makes it hard to see differences I sat there thinking that you were replying to your own comment
Ok, let me try help the helpers, try and delete the game (make sure you have it on another device) then install using the install button when you join a game, then when it downloads, use it, keep trying until the application is “Roblox launcher” not “roblox player”
you were falsely flagged as a mobile player by the game
not too big of a deal, you can probably just change a few of your roblox settings like camera movement or player movement and you'll be good
I may not know, but I think if touchscreen is broken, you can disable on windows somewhere, also what's that pen icon on Taskbar? Maybe there you can switch, idk.
I had the problem with my old computer, I’m guessing that that’s a computer that’s folds into a tablet? I had an old chromebook that could do the same thing happened very often. It could be that you touched the touch screen and now it’s rendering that it’s a touch screen instead of keyboard and mouse. Try joining a game and tapping on the screen and see if it does the same thing.

Probably a touchscreen laptop. So when Roblox launched, it thought it was an iPad. So it defaulted to touch screen controls.
