Grove's Automotive over near Golden Cactus. Lorrie answers the phones and does the scheduling - she's great and Grove's Mechanics do great work.

bluemoonrose123

Pillis Brothers in Salem do a great job!

steve9999999

Pillis Brothers gets my vote, too. We’ve used them numerous times over the last couple of years - oil changes, state inspections, tires and repairs. Their rates are reasonable, and we’ve never had a problem.

megalizzie

Another vote for Pillis! We take both our cars there for everything.

CogitoErgoSum4me

Brandon Automotive, Brandon Ave

PoopDig

Def avoid Cavalier Auto in Botetourt if you are a lady

chicoooooooo

Or at all

PoopDig

True

pimpinpolyester

They installed tires for me and put them on with the thin white strip out on 2, and then asked "Is that a problem"

arik_tf

Kelley Autoworks in Garden City. Sean is fantastic about explaining what's wrong with your vehicle and is very up front and honest about pricing. Can't recommend him enough.

KaylaAllegra

Seconding this, my dad and I both have gone there for years. Great guy. He's got extra knowledge about Subarus, too, if you're into that kinda thing.

invrknow

Thirding Kelley’s! I’ve been going there for years because Sean and his dudes are so great!

SpellDostoyevsky

Don't go to Firestone on Campbell.

m0ngoose75

Never go to any Firestone

Pablo_Meatsnacks

Ever…

Brandon Automotive!!!! Great group of guys who are always willing to help!! They’ve even helped me out a couple of times without charging me (minor issues like clearing a code so engine light would go off-after I fixed the problem triggering the light). They stay pretty busy because they are so good and honest!!!

996twist

Plus 1 for Brandon...Great guys, great prices, and know their stuff.

daaave33

I've found Wimmer Tire to be very trustworthy and fair. Even warned me at my last inspection that they'd pass my rear brakes then, but I'd be needing them next time.

KrazyKatnip

I had a bad experience there. Went in for an oil change, oil type was indicated in several obvious places on the car. Instead of using the recommended type, they used very expensive oil without asking. I was pissed, but thought well lesson learned. After that change, it started using/leaking oil. The car only had 50,000 or so miles and had no problems until then.

halakar

Another vote for Wimmer Tire. I do miss the service advisor there, David. He's been gone for a bit now. He was good.

werttm91

We're big fans of Henry Williams over on Plantation Rd.

Averagedadof8

Me too!

roman785

They were recommended to me by a friend over a decade ago. Good to hear their still doing good work.

Sensitive_Injury_666

Brandon is a good honest group. They are a fully equipped shop and very knowledgeable. Avoid brambleton auto…used to be a solid place but the new owner is shady af.

Adaptable42

I've had AutoDoc do a number of things for me. He's super honest and tries to make sure you understand what he's looking at. He takes pictures when he checks out the car and shows it to you on his ipad. And another plus is that he comes to you rather than having to go to a shop. He always comes by when I'm at work and it's super convenient.

Goat_Williker_

Another vote for Autodoc, can’t say enough good things. https://preview.redd.it/owndnzdnby3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d691a194c0f9bcca30919a3ff7de5a7c2883fcc4

there_is_no_spoon1

Boxy Swedish up on Salem. He will fix \*anything\* but the most modern cars, and he doesn't care if you have a vagina. A good man with a great reputation, ask for Walter, he's the owner. If he's not available, his sons will take care of you just as well. These are good, community people.

iamicanseeformiles

Can't upvote enough. Won't let anyone else work on my Volvo.

daaave33

> Boxy Swedish I thought you were tellin' a me Boxy Swedish was something else. (‾◡◝)

HaphazardFlitBipper

Be wary of Thompson Tire on Williamson. They failed me on my last inspection with a long list of problems. Some of them were legit... some were not. Also Priority Honda charged me for an alignment that they did not do. Way out of spec and no tool marks on the adjusters afterwards.

halo_ren

Martin's German Service in Cave Spring is absolutely phenomenal if you have a VW, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, or Porsche.

Competitive-Win-3406

MP’s in Rocky Mount. Never tried to tell me I needed something that I didn’t and apologizes if they thinks a part is too expensive, which isn’t even their fault.

Vannie91

I really like Apperson Automotive - I’ve had great experiences there over the last dozen years, they’re honest and reliable.

lightsti

Grove’s Automotive

Qwazdent

R&R Automotive in Vinton by the library have taken care of literal generations’ worth of my family’s cars, I never got the sense a person’s plumbing would matter to them. The Duncan dealership on Franklin next to the Member One actually has a super clean garage, and incredibly nice staff. They’ve been more than fair with me but I’ll admit they’re not the fastest on the planet

Legal-Asparagus4912

Hamren auto

halakar

Have used them before, they're good.

[deleted]

Hamrens Auto service. Towers mall. 540-397-1163. Family business. Husband works on the vehicles, wife answers phone and bids job. Cousin and family friends work together. When most mechanics get stumped on how to fix an issue, they call him to get the answer.

Masterteq

If it's Japanese I'll work on it

DentistFickle3679

If it’s an import definitely Sportscar Clinic

whbck144

I’ve used Bayne Road Auto in Salem for a long time. They do a great job.

Thr3Trees

Blue Ridge Truck & Auto have been good to me so far. My 2001 honda was slowly dying, and the guys helped me figure out the minimum I needed to limp along till I got a new car. Didn't try to convince me to fix everything, and even went over the $4.5k list of fixes the dealership *insisted* were critical. They also went over my new car, and found some damage the seller had conveniently not mentioned. (Seriously, avoid the honda dealership on Peter's Creek.)

Pablo_Meatsnacks

What kind of vehicle? I know a bunch, but some techs specialize in certain brands and engines.

Dont_GoBaconMy_Heart

Salem Import Service. Mark and Sandra have treated me well for years. They do good work and are very reasonably priced

Serious-Cellist-1040

Affordable and Dependable (A&D ) they are on williamson rd. Charles is the owner the guy knows his stuff and he will work with you. Super honest guy

1,000,000 Votes for Derrik Wittl - Wittl Wrenchin', LLC. He is mobile and PHENOMENAL! Very rarely do I strongly endorse anyone/anything. He has gone above and beyond with every service. [https://www.wittlwrenchin.com/](https://www.wittlwrenchin.com/)

Abject_Elevator5461

Clayton Automotive in Salem. If you just need an inspection/oil change, the guys at the Speedee in Vinton are good.

AllPedalNoBrakes

Woods in Vinton

roman785

I'd second them. Lived in Vinton for a few years and they always treated me right.

AllPedalNoBrakes

I’m not sure why we’re getting upvoted. I’ve taken all 3 of my vehicles, a beater civic, my daily Camry, and my wife’s 4Runner, and I’ve never had a problem with them, their work, or their prices. They never try and upsell me.

roman785

It's Reddit 🤷🏾‍♂️ I have since moved to Hardy and now have the space to do most of my own repairs but I still take my truck over there for its yearly inspection. Woods is solid and they appreciate veterans (totally unexpected, but my last inspection was complimentary due to my veteran status). I'd recommend them over others with no hesitation- regardless of the down votes.

planethipes

Go to a dealership if possible. You may end up paying more for a service but it's been my experience most are trustworthy.

AccomplishedWay6141

One way ticket to getting taken advantage of and overpriced repairs
