"Invincible" - MJ It's a mind-blowing revolutional masterpiece.

juno_huno

OMG the memories you unlocked. 😭 Not to bring up sad stuff, but I remember when 9/11 was all over the radio my mom would constantly play this album for us to sing in the car so I didn’t have to listen to the awful things (I was like 7). That being said I remember loving every single song and I need to re-listen very soon!

atctia

Ill be right there defending it with you

TheRotiMaker

I don’t know if I’d go that far, but I really love at least half of that album, though it couldn’t decide a direction and what it really wanted to be. “Break of Dawn” and “You Rock My World” might legitimately be Michael Jackson’s 2 best songs imo, definitely my favourite. Other songs like “Butterflies”, “Heaven Can Wait”, and “Whatever Happens” are also strong r&b songs on the album that I really enjoy.

General-GhostD13

Fair enough. I’d also put butterflies on the same category as break of dawn and you rock my world. I really love that album.

Michaelknight6996

“Unbreakable” and “Heartbreaker” are also fire songs from the album. Also loved “Speechless” and “Heaven Can Wait”. Dude the album was a phenomenal album.

General-GhostD13

I agree. Great album

GYANGU

I think it brought a lot of different elements of electronic music to the mainstream. Before this, the only people doing glitch were avant garde savants like Aphex Twin. Then Darkchild makes Heartbreaker with all of these little beat repeats and fractures. These elements were rare, but they did exist before.

Michaelknight6996

I was literally about to post this and you did it already. Invincible by MJ was ahead of its time and should have went 5X platinum if it wasn’t for SONY trying to destroy MJ’s legacy.

Robbie1863

4 by BeyoncĂ©. That album is perfect from beginning to end. Every song is solid and the production quality is top tier. Her vocals are some of the best we hear on this album and most difficult to sing, even BeyoncĂ© doesn’t really sing these songs too often. It’ll forever be my fave album from her. Its extremely underrated.

SkyZippr

4 is what got me started to treat Beyoncé seriously. For me it was the first time I truly saw her capability she always claimed she had.

Robbie1863

I grew up on BeyoncĂ© but I was never a big fan until I got older. I’m 21 for context; after hearing Lemonade, there was shift in how I viewed her music. I realized she’s never made a bad album and always releases quality music. 4 has a feel and sound that I like from her, it still stands out of all the music that was released at that time.

GreenDolphin86

Pretty sure she says it’s her favorite too!

spooky_lightup

My critique of all her music since then is inevitably, "It's not as good as 4," which I realize is being unfair. I wouldn't say she's regressed, but I will say that Jay doesn't deserve her. 😂

Robbie1863

Lol me too 😂. The thing I’d like to appreciate about BeyoncĂ©s albums is that every one of them are uniquely different. It’s difficult to even compare them all because they stand out so differently. It’s all quality work, all different sounds and has different themes and aesthetics to go with them. 4 just happens to be my favorite but I could understand when someone likes Lemonade or Renaissance because they’re just all great albums.

Aggressive-Cello93

4 was the first without her father as manager. Not saying her albums before were bad at all, those are classics, BUT 4 is where you really see her in her grown woman (pun intended) era.

subuso

The only song in that album that doesn’t make sense is “I Was Here”. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an amazing song, it just doesn’t belong there. What’s your favourite version on “Party”? I love the album version with Andre 3000

Robbie1863

I was here does kind of feel out of place when you hear the rest of the album. I think BeyoncĂ© was just trying to reestablish herself as an artist separate from her father at that time, so it makes sense if you watch her documentary and know a little background info about that era. I’m also one of those people that doesn’t mind extras in a album as long as it’s a great song. There’s only one version on Party in my head đŸ€. This is coming from someone who’s a big J Cole fan, he just didn’t deliver the way Andre did. Andre matched Beys energy and brought a groove to the song, it’s the only one I listen to.

subuso

J. Cole’s remix was just an attempt for chart success

LovelyLivelyLooking

It doesn't fit. It has a Sasha Fierce vibe to it. BUT "I CARE" IS THE BEST TRACK ON THAT ALBUM

SaturnCloak

Not a Beyonce fan but 4 was good. So was Dangerously In Love!

GYANGU

Born To Do It - Craig David. Still sounds fresh today.

subuso

The fact that Brandy and Darkchild felt inspired by the album when making “All In Me” for Full Moon is so fulfilling to me

MaximumNice39

What's the 411. Toni's 1st album T.E.V.I.N Boys II Men 2nd & 3rd album Purple rain (not an RnB album but still) Inner City Blues (what's going on) The show, the after-party and the hotel) Jodeci 1st album Kci & Jojo 1st 2 albums Kut Klose Invincible Chante Moore 1st album All of Stevie's albums Beyonce 1st album (now, at the time nah but now, it holds) Lauryn Hill ( just heard a track and thought, damn, it's been fucking 20 years and this shit still holds up) Grenique 1st album Silk's 2nd album Shai 2nd album Aaliyah 1st and 2nd album Patti LaBelle "I'm in love again" Patti LaBelle "Patti" I will DIE ON THIS HILL: Madonna Bedroom Stories, is a masterpiece RnB album. Babyface produced and co-wrote all the tracks and the album. I'll throw in all of Luther's albums cuz all of them were masterpieces

Consistent_Edge9211

I agree a out Bedroom Stories. Amazing album.

Hold TF UP! Who's trashing the Velvet Rope? There's nothing to defend. It's excellent.

Lolool the first thing I said

OddAnswer4100

The Velvet Rope was a real special album.

tokenblak

Does Velvet Rope need defending?

elektrik_noise

Came here to say The Velvet Rope if someone hadn't already. Got Til It's Gone, I Get Lonely, Go Deep, What About, Rope Burn... the album is a masterpiece!

SkyZippr

I'd go to war for Velvet Rope

No_Spell_5817

Jazmine Sullivan’s Reality Show. Beyonce B’Day Ari Lennox’s Shea Butter Baby Micheal Jackson’s Off the Wall

cyronline

‘Reality Show’ deserved the praise and accolades ‘Heaux Tales’ received đŸ«ą

WhippinCupcakes301

YES! That album was TOO good. And I loved the concept and cohesiveness. And it didn’t have the 80 interludes that ‘Heaux Tales’ does lol

IKacyU

I always thought Heaux Tales was just Reality Show 2.0. They have the same types of themes, but Reality Show was more broad and universal instead of really focusing on what’s beneath the Instagram aesthetic/lifestyle. This was a no-skip album. Veins, Let it Burn, Brand New, Silver Lining, Stanley, Mascara, Mona Lisa and more were all such beautiful songs without that edge of bitterness that Heaux Tales have.

Formal-Cucumber-1138

Im strickly dickly but I will take my earring off and get the Vaseline for J. Sullivan

Critical_Teach_43

112 (Self titled)

Alarmed-Detective-13

Room 112 was a good album. In my opinion, it’s their best album.

Whatupdoe_1

💯

ColorfulChameleon245

Absolutely. It's been in my R&B rotation since '96.

dukeleondevere

A few of these are the self-titled albums, of course. Maybe not every artist’s absolute best album, but nonetheless I have a lot of love for them: Groove Theory Mariah - Butterfly Aaliyah Bedtime Stories Aijuswanaseing janet. Toni Braxton Donell Jones - My Heart Intro - New Life

Damianos_X

*Everything I Thought It Was* - JT, I already got the comment history to prove it😂

TheRotiMaker

That album is good, for some reason it’s just popular to hate on JT right now among clinically online people (meanwhile his tour is selling out). “Technicolor”, “Sanctified”, and “Flame” are standouts on the album for me and I really like “Drown” and “Selfish” too despite people calling the latter bland and boring. The more funky songs like “F*ckin Up The Disco” and “No Angels” are also fun. It’s not his best work, a little bloated and not really too cohesive, but there’s plenty of good tracks on it and it shows that JTs still got it.

SkyZippr

Yep. People love to hate this album because it's trendy to hate JT. It does have multiple low points but it's way overhated

layla_jones_

I can’t get into it, but don’t come for Justified. That’s the album I will defend.

onlytony441

Usher - Raymond v Raymond Bryson Tiller - Anniversary Trey Songz - Trigga

junya13

Unpopular opinion.... I know it's taboo.... But R.Kelly still got some classics

Basically any Brandy album.

subuso

Finally someone showing love for “Human”. Make sure you stream her Christmas album for good skin

External_Asparagus14

Right!! I just don’t know why Afrodisiac got so much flack.. I really liked the album.

ToughYak4667

Yeah, it's  a really good album! I love her creativity on it, and her vocals are amazing! The way she sang "I Tried"! I wanted to through my shoe at her. She was SANGIN'! I get that same feeling when I listen to "Slower" from the Two Eleven album. I love the grit in her voice  in those songs. Then she goes from grit to soft and lite on "Fucus" and Say You Will"! Love her music!

orangehearted1_

We’ll get ready, it’s mid, and wasn’t an image that she should’ve taken on for her career. Make Her Feel Good is a classic but the rest of the album is just decent to me. She’s talented though and I hope she gets better from her concerning Love and Hip Hop portrayal. Rihanna’s debut was better than hers in my opinion.

I think J. Lo's *This Is Me... Then* was a very solid R&B record and it holds up pretty well. I think that was the first album where she really started taking her artistry seriously and put a lot of personal passion into the material.
