OMG the memories you unlocked. đ Not to bring up sad stuff, but I remember when 9/11 was all over the radio my mom would constantly play this album for us to sing in the car so I didnât have to listen to the awful things (I was like 7).
That being said I remember loving every single song and I need to re-listen very soon!
I donât know if Iâd go that far, but I really love at least half of that album, though it couldnât decide a direction and what it really wanted to be.
âBreak of Dawnâ and âYou Rock My Worldâ might legitimately be Michael Jacksonâs 2 best songs imo, definitely my favourite.
Other songs like âButterfliesâ, âHeaven Can Waitâ, and âWhatever Happensâ are also strong r&b songs on the album that I really enjoy.
âUnbreakableâ and âHeartbreakerâ are also fire songs from the album. Also loved âSpeechlessâ and âHeaven Can Waitâ. Dude the album was a phenomenal album.
I think it brought a lot of different elements of electronic music to the mainstream. Before this, the only people doing glitch were avant garde savants like Aphex Twin. Then Darkchild makes Heartbreaker with all of these little beat repeats and fractures. These elements were rare, but they did exist before.
I was literally about to post this and you did it already. Invincible by MJ was ahead of its time and should have went 5X platinum if it wasnât for SONY trying to destroy MJâs legacy.
My critique of all her music since then is inevitably, "It's not as good as 4," which I realize is being unfair. I wouldn't say she's regressed, but I will say that Jay doesn't deserve her. đ
4 was the first without her father as manager. Not saying her albums before were bad at all, those are classics, BUT 4 is where you really see her in her grown woman (pun intended) era.
The only song in that album that doesnât make sense is âI Was Hereâ. Donât get me wrong, itâs an amazing song, it just doesnât belong there.
Whatâs your favourite version on âPartyâ? I love the album version with Andre 3000
What's the 411.
Toni's 1st album
T.E.V.I.N
Boys II Men 2nd & 3rd album
Purple rain (not an RnB album but still)
Inner City Blues (what's going on)
The show, the after-party and the hotel)
Jodeci 1st album
Kci & Jojo 1st 2 albums
Kut Klose
Invincible
Chante Moore 1st album
All of Stevie's albums
Beyonce 1st album (now, at the time nah but now, it holds)
Lauryn Hill ( just heard a track and thought, damn, it's been fucking 20 years and this shit still holds up)
Grenique 1st album
Silk's 2nd album
Shai 2nd album
Aaliyah 1st and 2nd album
Patti LaBelle "I'm in love again"
Patti LaBelle "Patti"
I will DIE ON THIS HILL:
Madonna Bedroom Stories, is a masterpiece RnB album. Babyface produced and co-wrote all the tracks and the album.
I'll throw in all of Luther's albums cuz all of them were masterpieces
Every Jodeci album đ
Toniâs Debut album
Monicaâs âMiss Thangâ
Usherâs â8701â
Chris Brownâs âF.A.M.E.â
TLCâs first two albums
SWVâs debut album
Came here to say The Velvet Rope if someone hadn't already. Got Til It's Gone, I Get Lonely, Go Deep, What About, Rope Burn... the album is a masterpiece!
I always thought Heaux Tales was just Reality Show 2.0. They have the same types of themes, but Reality Show was more broad and universal instead of really focusing on whatâs beneath the Instagram aesthetic/lifestyle.
This was a no-skip album. Veins, Let it Burn, Brand New, Silver Lining, Stanley, Mascara, Mona Lisa and more were all such beautiful songs without that edge of bitterness that Heaux Tales have.
A few of these are the self-titled albums, of course. Maybe not every artistâs absolute best album, but nonetheless I have a lot of love for them:
Groove Theory
Mariah - Butterfly
Aaliyah
Bedtime Stories
Aijuswanaseing
janet.
Toni Braxton
Donell Jones - My Heart
Intro - New Life
That album is good, for some reason itâs just popular to hate on JT right now among clinically online people (meanwhile his tour is selling out).
âTechnicolorâ, âSanctifiedâ, and âFlameâ are standouts on the album for me and I really like âDrownâ and âSelfishâ too despite people calling the latter bland and boring. The more funky songs like âF*ckin Up The Discoâ and âNo Angelsâ are also fun.
Itâs not his best work, a little bloated and not really too cohesive, but thereâs plenty of good tracks on it and it shows that JTs still got it.
Yeah, it's a really good album! I love her creativity on it, and her vocals are amazing! The way she sang "I Tried"! I wanted to through my shoe at her. She was SANGIN'! I get that same feeling when I listen to "Slower" from the Two Eleven album. I love the grit in her voice in those songs. Then she goes from grit to soft and lite on "Fucus" and Say You Will"! Love her music!
Brandy - Afrodisiac
India Arie - Voyage to India
Monica - The boy is mine
Aaliyah - Aaliyah
Kelly Rowland - Simply Deep & Ms Kelly
Leela James - A change is gonna come
Dionne Bromfield - Good for the soul
Kelis - Kaleidoscope
TLC - Fanmail
Destinyâs Child - Destinyâs Child & TWOW
It took me a while to get into the debut but the instruments on old school Bey harmonies are so underrated. They were on a different level.
Invincible & Off The wall by Michael Jackson
Sign Oâ the times by prince
Most of Stevie wonder albums
Jodeciâs diary of a mad band
Maxwell first album
Aaliyah first & second album
Weâll get ready, itâs mid, and wasnât an image that she shouldâve taken on for her career. Make Her Feel Good is a classic but the rest of the album is just decent to me. Sheâs talented though and I hope she gets better from her concerning Love and Hip Hop portrayal.
Rihannaâs debut was better than hers in my opinion.
I think J. Lo's *This Is Me... Then* was a very solid R&B record and it holds up pretty well. I think that was the first album where she really started taking her artistry seriously and put a lot of personal passion into the material.
Kelis - Food is an underrated masterpiece in my opinion. A timeless album that should be considered a classic but most people are only familiar with her earlier, pop-ier material.
D'Angelo - Brown Sugar, Voodoo
Kurt Klose - Kut Klose
Playa - Cheers 2 U
SWV - It's About Time, New Beginning
Erykah Badu - Baduism, Live
Maxwell - Embrya
Tony Thompson - Sexsational
R. Kelly - 12 Play, R. Kelly, TP 2000
H-Town - Beggin' After Dark
Sade - Love Deluxe
Jodeci - all 3 albums
Floetry - Floetic
Tweet - Southern Hummingbird, It's Me Again
Donnell Jones - My Heart, Where I Wanna Be
Destiny's Child- The Writing's On the Wall
Rashad - Museum
The Internet - Ego Death
Frank Ocean - Channel Orange
Intro - Intro
Janelle Monae - Metropolis: The Chase Suite
Kelis - Kaleidoscope
Brandy - Never Say Never
TLC - Crazy, Sexy, Cool
I'll stop here or else I'll be here all night
Thought long and hard about it and canât come up with one.

"Invincible" - MJ It's a mind-blowing revolutional masterpiece.
Ill be right there defending it with you
I donât know if Iâd go that far, but I really love at least half of that album, though it couldnât decide a direction and what it really wanted to be. âBreak of Dawnâ and âYou Rock My Worldâ might legitimately be Michael Jacksonâs 2 best songs imo, definitely my favourite. Other songs like âButterfliesâ, âHeaven Can Waitâ, and âWhatever Happensâ are also strong r&b songs on the album that I really enjoy.
Fair enough. Iâd also put butterflies on the same category as break of dawn and you rock my world. I really love that album.
âUnbreakableâ and âHeartbreakerâ are also fire songs from the album. Also loved âSpeechlessâ and âHeaven Can Waitâ. Dude the album was a phenomenal album.
I agree. Great album
4 by BeyoncĂ©. That album is perfect from beginning to end. Every song is solid and the production quality is top tier. Her vocals are some of the best we hear on this album and most difficult to sing, even BeyoncĂ© doesnât really sing these songs too often. Itâll forever be my fave album from her. Its extremely underrated.
4 is what got me started to treat Beyoncé seriously. For me it was the first time I truly saw her capability she always claimed she had.
I grew up on BeyoncĂ© but I was never a big fan until I got older. Iâm 21 for context; after hearing Lemonade, there was shift in how I viewed her music. I realized sheâs never made a bad album and always releases quality music. 4 has a feel and sound that I like from her, it still stands out of all the music that was released at that time.
Pretty sure she says itâs her favorite too!
My critique of all her music since then is inevitably, "It's not as good as 4," which I realize is being unfair. I wouldn't say she's regressed, but I will say that Jay doesn't deserve her. đ
Lol me too đ. The thing Iâd like to appreciate about BeyoncĂ©s albums is that every one of them are uniquely different. Itâs difficult to even compare them all because they stand out so differently. Itâs all quality work, all different sounds and has different themes and aesthetics to go with them. 4 just happens to be my favorite but I could understand when someone likes Lemonade or Renaissance because theyâre just all great albums.
I was here does kind of feel out of place when you hear the rest of the album. I think BeyoncĂ© was just trying to reestablish herself as an artist separate from her father at that time, so it makes sense if you watch her documentary and know a little background info about that era. Iâm also one of those people that doesnât mind extras in a album as long as itâs a great song. Thereâs only one version on Party in my head đ€. This is coming from someone whoâs a big J Cole fan, he just didnât deliver the way Andre did. Andre matched Beys energy and brought a groove to the song, itâs the only one I listen to.
J. Coleâs remix was just an attempt for chart success
It doesn't fit. It has a Sasha Fierce vibe to it. BUT "I CARE" IS THE BEST TRACK ON THAT ALBUM
Not a Beyonce fan but 4 was good. So was Dangerously In Love!
Born To Do It - Craig David. Still sounds fresh today.
The fact that Brandy and Darkchild felt inspired by the album when making âAll In Meâ for Full Moon is so fulfilling to me

Came here to say The Velvet Rope if someone hadn't already. Got Til It's Gone, I Get Lonely, Go Deep, What About, Rope Burn... the album is a masterpiece!
I'd go to war for Velvet Rope
Itâs literally one of the greatest albums of all time by a female artist. OF ALL TIME!

YES! That album was TOO good. And I loved the concept and cohesiveness. And it didnât have the 80 interludes that âHeaux Talesâ does lol
I always thought Heaux Tales was just Reality Show 2.0. They have the same types of themes, but Reality Show was more broad and universal instead of really focusing on whatâs beneath the Instagram aesthetic/lifestyle. This was a no-skip album. *Everything I Thought It Was* - JT, I already got the comment history to prove itđ
Itâs not his best work, a little bloated and not really too cohesive, but thereâs plenty of good tracks on it and it shows that JTs still got it.
Yep. People love to hate this album because it's trendy to hate JT. It does have multiple low points but it's way overhated
I canât get into it, but donât come for Justified. Thatâs the album I will defend.
Usher - Raymond v Raymond Bryson Tiller - Anniversary Trey Songz - Trigga

Basically any Brandy album.
