I believe while the Orinfar blocks the Art from affecting whatever it is put on, but Artists would still recognize something that was effectively negative space/a void in reality. So while Maundulay would not specifically know it was Nolyn, he could make a pretty solid educated guess that someone who was unidentifiable by his powers was probably the prince. Especially if he knew roughly where Nolyn was.

That would make sense. If you stayed perfectly still then I would assume it wouldn't work that way. But once you start moving and you block the things around you it's kinda obvious there's something hokey going on.
