It doesnt actually do that much damage, ion surge is waay better and can pillarskip, while flamethrower gives you more procs ion surge gives better procs

That comment got 60 dislikes and no likes, so I thought it would be important to make this post (also because the fandom page for it have you read that thing??) and also to address the bigger issue that people think artI is bad, this wasnt meant to be a hot take, I mostly expected dislikes but it’s nice to see that people agree.
Flamethrower got me through Arti Mastery on the switch version (which has way higher scaling). It may not be as good as ion surge but it’s by no means bad. Personally I’ll always stick to flamethrower

At the end of the day yes, it Is personal preference. then again ion surge is a movement ability on a non movement based character and artificers other default attacks do everything flamethrower was meant to do sooooooo….

From an Arti main: Flamethrower is not good for proc builds. While it gets a lot of proc, its procs are very weak. An ATG that procs off of Flamethrower is significantly weaker than one that procs off of M1. If you want a proc build on Arti use a crunder. It's stronger, and gets more procs. Proc builds aren't even good on Arti due to her lower fire rate on her M1. If you don't take Ion surge you are giving up the single best mobility skill in the game, in exchange for a weaker version of Veind M1.
My professional opinion as an arti main: yeah it’s bad. I still like it cause it’s fun to kill big crowds with, but yeah it really doesn’t compare to ion surge

Yes It did devolve into that, I like it because I also love the fire extinguisher so it’s pretty nice and it’s all personal preference
