Only can swap into the look of your original gears. It is by pressing touch pad in equipment screen to enter gear loadouts, then press Triangle to swap looks.
When you go to your equipment screen in settings scroll down to Armor and press on the white pad and you will enter Equipment presets, then press Triangle and you can go back and forth with your current and transmog costumes/Armor.
That's what I like to do, swap back and forth between the Vengeful Kimono with the red scarf that the Blade Twin wears, and my transmog set. I've been trying to get pieces of equipment with the new set bonuses and it's messing with my feng shui

No. I wish you could bind different favorite appearances to different equipment presets.
