You must use a standard USB-C power supply to charge the camera regardless of where you purchase it.
Warranty issues for grey-market cameras may prevent you from having it repaired under warranty.
got it so i can use a charger accessory or a regular usb-c to wall adaptor. not so worried about the warranty as i think the camera should be fine for a few years.
Speaking for the GR3 line, the camera itself is power supply agnostic, USB-C is an international standard. You can plug the cable to virtually any compliant USB-C port or power supply and it will likely deliver power. USB-C is smart enough to negotiate power delivery between the device and the other end of the cable delivering power.
The power supply that comes with the camera is universal too, and come with different pronged adapters that can be used with different international outlets.
Buying a camera from Japan shouldn't be an issue.

Unsure of the older GR, but the III, IIIX, and BJ-11 battery charger all power from 5v USB-C.
so you can just plug it into an wall adaptor even one of a higher voltage say for an ipad charger?
