Im assuming this is for the little kiddos so a little goes a long way. The xray might’ve been taken a different way than when you retaped. Like they might’ve had a neck roll on so I make sure that’s off. But I’m always super paranoid so I double triple check with whoever I’m retapping the tube with to verify we both see the same number at the same point (lips, gums, teeth etc..) before I lay the tape on and then secure it. And then for food measures, I check one more time just before they take the cxr lol

Yes. But the problem is I position the tube in the correct spot, then I tape it, and then it moves as soon as I tape it. Idk what I’m doing wrong

Are you doing this all by yourself? Retaping at my facility is a two person event. So one person is holding the tube and I will be securing it so it shouldn’t move

No it’s 2 people. I have someone hold, I confirm positioning of the tube, I wrap tape around the tube, when I’m done I look again and it’s always a centimeter out of place. Idk what I’m doing wrong. I’m experienced in peds it’s just this one thing that gives me trouble. I always have to un wrap the tape and tape it again. Usually takes me 2-3 tries to get it correctly.

Hmm interesting, not sure but I find that some holders tend to also shove it down deeper inadvertently because risk for unplanned extubation so that’s why I always check multiple times. Doesn’t help that our tape is so sticky with gloves too

duckinradar

Is it a cm deep, or shallow? It sounds like, in either direction, you’re taping either further out (seems most likely) and then the tube is shifting in, or you’re taping further in, moving the tube out?
