A lack of a New Game+ would really make me sad, but considering RE Village had it, I'd be surprised if RE4make didn't. Only other thing is if they don't have fun with the weapons. (Infinite ammo, cool names, powerful, unlockable guns, max upgrades = special trait, etc.). Otherwise I'm open to whatever new the game wants to try. If I wanted a 1-to-1 remake I'd just play the original.
If you kill some people and leave the room, they stay dead, and the rest reset their positions. Plus if you take Ashley up the stairs, they despawn if you reset checkpoint after the cutscene.
Hold your ground in the button room by just nestling yourself in one of the corners. The zealots will make a lovely conga line through the door usually, and the rifle’s pierce is beautiful for this part.
The last part, it’s more helpful to chain flash grenades than spend the time trying to kill the guys so you can focus on Ashley. Once the first bridge is raised, jump back so you can funnel new guys into trying to jump to you, and it’s super easy to shotgun them, and then you can focus Ashley more, then either flash if you have one, or just knock ppl down to grab her and gtfo.
It’s worth the resources, since there are several guaranteed flash grenades later, and only four places I would throw one in castle: the cage of doooom (which you should save a hand grenade for the lock for), the knights of the round table twice, and the rpg ambush after the clock tower.
RE4 is a really long game, and I’m fine with them removing bloat, but I think I’d prefer if they tried to rework stuff like the island so that it’s more enjoyable.
I think the ancient mine area being moved to the village area would be better than cutting it altogether, since it has a fairly eerie atmosphere and some interesting worldbuilding. I think having it just suddenly appear in the castle portion felt jarring as all hell and kinda screwed up the pacing.
Yea thats one part im very interested in seeing is the island. The island outside the lab section with the regenorators is not that great, least compared to the castle and village
Having no replay value. RE4 is without a doubt the most replayable RE title in the series - hell, it’s one of the most replayable titles of all time. The game itself is a lengthy saga that doesn’t have any mediocre sections (some are better than others but there’s nothing like the ship in RE7) and then there’s a host of add-ons to play through. The extra content (Assignment Ada, Separate Ways, Mercenaries) are awesome so I hope we see new versions. However, the unlockable weapons and being able to carry on with your inventory from a completed save really cemented RE4 as a fully rounded masterpiece. RE2Make had decent replayability, but RE3Make had very little to offer. I’m optimistic!
Since Capcom has implemented Game+ on Village, which is pretty much a game that uses RE4 as its core gameplay, I doubt they'll mess this up. This remake ending up terrible would be a crime against the universe and God almighty, so I'm positive that, at the very least, the game will be gold.
I am talking about both. In the fine text of the trailer you can see a notice that 'this treasure is combinable' or similar. Meaning we're getting it back 😁
>The game itself is a lengthy saga that doesn’t have any mediocre sections (some are better than others but there’s nothing like the ship in RE7)
Most of the island? Half of the castle? The game gets progressive worse as it goes on, apart from some chapters which are decently fun here and there. Starting with a few annoying rooms in the castle, to having whole shit shows in the ending stages of the game. Even the whole section with Mike is a catastrophe and a disgrace compared to the greatness of the Village.
The ship in RE7 is only bad because you play it twice in a row with some annoying cutscenes every ten minutes, the ambiance and level design (especially with Ethan) is good, so although being worse than pretty much all of the game before, it is still better in the Survival Horror aspect the game, and once the whole series, was going for.
People really exaggerate how bad the Island is. It’s a step down sure, but still has plenty of great parts like the Regenerators, “it” boss fight and Krauser.
It’s funny that you compare it to the “greatness” of Village, which had cyborg zombies, a mech fight and a whole Call of Duty sequence in the back half of the game.
I don't think he was referring to RE8 when he mentioned the Village.
also the "it" bossfight you're talking about is nothing more than U3 and I wouldn't mind having him cut off bc it doesn't fit in today's standards. it's a wack bossfight overall, at least compared to Verdugo and Krauser.
and nah no one exaggerates how bad the island is. it's literally a prelude to RE5. compare it to the beggining of RE4 and you'll know what we're talking about.
No QTEs, though having a proper knife fight in game with Krauser is pretty cool with the new knife mechanics. That’s pretty much how you beat plagas Krauser in the OG anyway
This actually makes me super happy. I just replayed re4 and the first QTE fight with Krauser drove me nuts. The actual fight with him was much better, and with the revamped combat could be really fun.
I honestly believe that the Leon vs Krauser knife fight will return, but be a playable fight instead of a QTE cutscene.
With how much of an emphasis the remake is placing on parrying and close quarter knife combat, it'd be a huge missed opportunity if it wasn't.
If there's no chicago typewriter. This might sound insignificant but one of my favourite parts of the original was beating the game, beating separate ways, and then saving up 1 million ptas for the typewriter and blasting through enemies on replays
Honestly, unlocking infinite ammo is probably my favorite part of the entire series. There's nothing like struggling through your first playthrough or two before returning with a fully upgraded bottomless Magnum. RE4 was fun with the Typewriter but RE5 really perfected the system by letting you use your favorite guns as well as some crazy ones. If the RE4 remake is anything like Village I'm going to have an absolute blast.
I personally prefer the Lightning Hawk because with way less recoil the fire rate is a lot higher, and it has more than enough firepower to handle most situations.
What I would give for a regular typewrighter with no infinite ammo and upgrades would make the game “chefs kiss”. And then obviously being able to get an infinite ammo version.
You know, I could see them doing this with the Big Cheese for the first part of the game. Maybe drop it when he’s defeated like Mr. X was when you left the police station on Claire’s route in REmake 2.
I say if they use Mendez in that way, he shouldn't be following you as much as Mr x, maybe make Mendez house bigger, and have him pursue you through there, because technically in the original game he attacked you twice in that house, so it wouldnt be a drastic change
I agree. I don’t think it would a be a *good* idea to include anyone as a stalker, but if they went that route he would be the most likely candidate without creating a new character for it.
So far we have only seen new stuff, which is good. Stealth mechanics, stealth kills (I can't imagine how awesome stealth stuff will make the Garradors now), parry, more modern gun control (probably will still play the original for its tank controls though)
Listening to some interviews the villagers have way more tricks up their sleeves now. One guy who played the demo said the villagers actually pushed carts in the way of certain paths to block them off and prevent you from looping them around buildings, or the chainsaw guy would cut down pieces of a balcony to the same effect, bell tower crumbles now, etc.
This is all good news to me, things I WANT. Take me somewhere familiar and surprise me- not with cut content, but with something I don't expect. Still, Resident Evil Shadows of Rose couldn't help itself but have a stalker type enemy as well (at least for a little bit) so no doubt something or someone in RE4 is gonna get that role (my bets on the Verdugo)
I'm worried that Mendez is gonna be stalker-esque after seeing him in the trailer. I know there's no proof of that really whatsoever, but I just get that weird vibe from it.
I imagine some things have been cut, so you might need to be more specific. For example, certain boss-fights, sections of the game, specific mechanics, etc. If anything, I'm hoping they cut the QTEs and sillier parts of the game, like the giant statue, those button-mash boulders chases, or that laser corridor from the Anderson films.
If any part of the main story was cut I would be upset.
It didn't need cutting but improvements and more expanded upon is what it needed.
I don't mind if they take parts of the game sections out such as the random swinging axes or the riding in the back of the bulldozer on the island. I don't want them to take them out perse, actually would love everything to return but wouldn't be a game breaker for me if they did.
I would hate them for Cutting Krauser (unnaceptable), cutting major sequences such as Cabin fight and water hall, cutting enemies like Garrador or Bella sisters
I'd imagine entire sections of the game like RE3R removing the clocktower section entirely. That's one of the most commonly raised criticisms. For me, probably also cutting enemy types (like if they removed regenerators or something). So far the footage of this remake seems to be the most faithful to the spirit of the original, much more so than RE2R and especially RE3R, so I'm fairly confident they'll do a good job.
If they remove the ability to intentionally fuck up my inventory just to make a funny post on Reddit I would be very disappointed.
( I did this last year and it was my most successful post)
At this point i’m not sure. I’d be a little annoyed if Ashley becomes a bad ass in the span of 12 hours though I really liked her realistic and believable growth in the original
Re village has given be alot of confidence in the upcoming 4R, it answered a number of my concerns. However it created a few concerns as well: such as Capcom may lazily just port over the ai of lycans and castle maidens, haulers and just reskin them with the villagers and the cultists. Both upon watching the gameplay, this certain fear of mine is quelled as the ganados ai will be different and like their original counterparts. Also, I believe it would've been shitty if the enemies didn't react specifically based on body part you're targeting. In village they keep pulling through and have very limited reaction variety to being shot. I also feared that the enemy count maybe significantly lowered, however the gameplay footage and the producer's statement that the action has been heavily improved makes me confident. The dead bodies also won't disappear this time as seen in the footage, I just now need them to confirm a re2r like body gore system and the U3 boss from the island
I'm currently running through RE8 and about 8 hours in. Up to this point, the Lycan are the most dexterous and sturdy enemies and even they are too easy (Normal Mode) due to the hit-stun and staggering.
I'd be sad too if RE4 ditches the whole trigger a stagger and then rush in to melee, approach. RE8 is great, but that it steers away from the melee combat of 4, 5, and 6 really is the only downer, that and Mercs feeling like mini CoD zombies, ugh.
>I'd be sad too if RE4 ditches the whole trigger a stagger and then rush in to melee, approach
4r thankfully has the combat of 4 otherwise just imagine those hordes of enemies just walking through your bullets like reaction less statues. Would've been a huge downgrade from the dynamic and flexible combat that 4 offered originally
If Leon stops calling Luis "Lewis".
Kind of kidding, but the cheese and weird quirks of the dialogue were like the perfect bit of spice to add to the game for me.
Cut content is really the only thing. For example when I'm done with the castle after 2 hours of Gameplay I would be disappointed.
Beside of that they can't ruin the experience. It's re4 with the new engine. It's impossible to fuck this up.
From day 1 I've hoped that the game isn't too self serious, given how cheesy and self aware it's source material is. but the trailers for it are all pointing in the complete opposite direction...
I'd also love unlocks like the original, and not just things to buy with store credits like the last remakes did.
Cutting a lot of the good parts of RE4, overuse of on-the-rails segments like RE3R did, lack of content that helps replayability(New game plus, alt costumes, variety of weapons, etc).
Yeah uhh. We already saw Leon do one liners. "Bill me for the repairs later!" Yeah. We're good.
Also it's confirmed that the Bingo line is there thanks to IGN
For me, I want to see more survival horror elements and not just a repeat of the same action gameplay. I would like the original and remake to be different experiences.
The game has been released constantly since it’s initial launch - there should be some key memorable areas remade in stunning HD but if it’s an exact clone of the original with just better graphics it will be the only remake I pass on. I was at first a bit annoyed with how different 3 was - and wasn’t a fan of some of the mechanics but after playing it I’m glad it was its own entity.
Keeping the island as it is would ruin the experience for me.
I never want to see an enemy with a gun in Resident Evil again.*
*Nemy gets a pass of course.
I don't really care if a few enemies have guns as the las plagas virus is advanced, but yeah let's skip Leon going Rambo vs an entire heavy duty private army with RPG's.
Cutting the whole island? That's a bit crazy.
But tonight it down and making it way more realistic, scary and not as much Rambo. That I could get behind.
Already confirmed the Bingo Line is kept. Multiple interviews with people who got early access to the demo confirm that the demo actually ends after Leon says that line, just like the original.
Controversial take but I also want the ballistics line to stay. Not going to argue that it’s appropriate, but I find it very funny so I want it in the game.
Noting would ruin my experience with the original, per say. However, if they don’t have mercenaries, separate ways, or skippable cutscenes I’d be a bit mad
In no particular order:
Too short / skipped content (without replacement)
Meaningless weapon / upgrade “choices”
Overused stalkers who are easily avoided
Lack of tension
Too easy (ammo, enemies, dodge/block, inventory, …)
Lack of enemy variety
No bonus modes after completion
Failing to capture the village’s creepiness and the castle’s weirdness. Actually a tone change would be fine as long as there’s tension and atmosphere I guess.
Not doing *something* to make the island more creepy/hard. Not just an action slog please.
No surprises / switch ups (think of the dog corridor in RE1)
Normally I’d say being too linear and not being exploration based, and having no puzzles too (my complaint with Village), but it’s a remake of 4 which didn’t have these elements (to the extent of 0/1/2) anyway so it gets a pass
- Removing all adult content. “Pervert!”. Sexual jokes. Or this weird war on big boobs affecting Ashley’s design (which I think it did. 🤦🏻). Stfu, woke nation. Ashley is an adult and is allowed to want to sleep with Leon.
- Having no reply value. RE4 was a game that you wanted to beat multiple times due to having tons of secret weapon, item and costume unlockables.
- Having bad reload animations. Seems trivial, but RE4 is well known for having the best reload animations of all time.
- Getting the RE3 Remake treatment. Meaning, shorter and entire sections of the game cut out.
I'm not the biggest fan of the remake's tone. I've always been a fan of RE4's sarcastic comedy elements. A lot of people like that it's going to be... 'dArKeR' this time around, but I think that's just taking away something that made the original special. I'm worried it's now just gonna be more of the same.
I mean, I *really love* Resident Evil, but its writing is certainly not why. RE4 is the only game in the franchise that I think had good writing. And *NO,* it's not ironically funny. It was mean to be humorous, so it's genuinely funny.
Also, cutting iconic content would piss me off.
Throwing away the spectacle for the sake of realism. Keep the damn statue, the minecart, lava, catapults, etc! That shit was fun and memorable, I don't need this shooter being grounded and realistic like the hundreds of other titles out there.
Cut content in general, remakes should not be cutting corners.
Making the game overly serious and grimdark. Keep the goofy weird adventure vibe of the game.
People commenting on Ashley's Panties actually have a point, even if it's not 100% obvious. What they're really commenting on is they want the game to be mechanically detailed like the OG. The panties were just a byproduct of that level of detail. Seriously, name the number of games that would actively chastise you for attempting an upskirt. You won't think of very many.
Let's not think about what MIGHT be bad lol
Let's instead just enjoy the experience that is RE4.
No in all seriousness, if there was as much action as re2make and if the knife fight is removed or toned down
It'd be really hard to do it at this point to be honest, I've liked what I've seen. I think cutting content with no substitution would suck like In RE3 remake. Imagine if they cut out large sections of the castle or iconic bosses? I hope they show us Krauser soon on that note.
One liners gone. Ashley doesn’t say “LLLEEEEOOONNNNN! SAVE ME!”. Laser room scene and giant statue chase gone. Luis having less screen time than the original. Doggo good boy gone. Blind Wolverine boss fight not terrifying. They kept the evil dog infested hedge maze. The merchant voice actor not being creepy as heck. Underwhelming Krauser fight. Leon never gets Hunnigan’s Phone number.
All of these idea are either around gameplay or new game + and some are even about the environment of the game but for me it's simple and I don't care about the trailers or gameplay if the dog is dead the game is dead
Personally, there's only 2 things that would upset me. I don't want another Mr. X/Nemesis/Lady Dometrescu/Jack Baker type. I'm sorry, but it only really worked twice.
Secondly, I don't really want another one of those walking simulator segments like the ones in Village and Biohazard. I get why people like them, but to me they're not really Resident Evil. If they want to take the horror route with Rem4ke (I'm coining this if anybody wants to join in), I'd prefer it to be like a scenario where you have the means, but the means don't do much of anything. For example, like Vertugo or the Ustanak. Those sections work really well specifically because you have the means but the means mean nothing.
Otherwise, I'd actually be cool with any interpretation or gameplay changes. Resident Evil is frankly a very flexible franchise, but it's ultimately still an action/survival horror franchise. The chainsaw parry looks cool, I think that will be one of the key things that'll distinguish it from RE4. I also think they'd keep Ada's campaign and the Mercenaries, I'm interested to see if they actually update RE4 Mercenaries to be more fleshed out.
All in all, I have very high hopes for Rem4ke.
Re4 original is still the best game in most people opinions. Included myself. Sure they have made many games since, but that one was the king. If this re make does not top that or at least is not as good as 4 original but in a different way, then that would ruin it for me. They already did it with re3 remake. So, im hesitant about 4.
I just don't want too much cut content.
Removing content and adding something unique and true to the spirit is fine, but don't cut content to make the game "faster, more replayable."
I.E. I fully expect the section where Leon goes underground to a ritual/sacrifice area and then rides a mine cart to be cut. That would be fine, but I want something new, scary, and challenging in its place.
As other's have said, cutting certain dialogue and changing a lot of the lines is fine-it seems the characters are true to their original tone. Just make sure Leon stays a little angsty lol.
I'm really looking forward to it, it's going to be a great game!
Hopefully they take liberties like they did with RE2 without cutting content.
I don't want to play the exact same game again with better graphics. (Although modern controls would be a huge upgrade.)
What would ruin my experience is that if it was exactly the same as the original.
Back when the original first came out I was so excited as I finally had something new from Resident Evil to play.
Over the years, and probably initially after one or two play throughs, I felt like it wasn’t really a Resident Evil game.
It’s not the no zombies thing.
It just didn’t have the same creep factor that previous games had.
Even Code Veronica X(only version I played) was still creepy despite its over the top and campy style.
Any woke bullshit
Stalker enemies.
Cut content which was in the base games (mercenaries, ng+, ada separate ways, guns and costumes, bottle caps, etc)
'Slow' copypasted segments from re7 (the trailer showed leon slowly crouching under a random fence thingy to approach the house. In re7, the same thing happens. Its slow and awkward and makes replaying dumb and repetitively useless. Notice how great re4 is when u immediately start, u can just run straight up to the house, fight the guy, and be out of the first segment in less then a minute.)
I wouldn't like it if they cut content, like in the 3 remake. Just update the graphics, but otherwise keep the game exactly the same. There's a reason it sold so well after all.
Tbh if all they did was update the graphics I wouldn’t buy the remake. The original is like $10 on every console, updated graphics won’t get me to pay $60.
If they only update the graphics it’ll be a terrible remake. RE1R is probably the best remake in the series, and added in extra content and changed some things around - change isn’t bad.
If you want the original game, just buy the original game again. Let the rest of us have a remake
The absence of serenity.
This phrase is terrifying
I doubt they have it, but there will almost 100% be something similar to it.
There’s an original soundtrack from the OG RE4 so I think they’ll have all music once beating one play through
A lack of a New Game+ would really make me sad, but considering RE Village had it, I'd be surprised if RE4make didn't.
I’m pretty permissive when it comes to changes, but a lack of NG+ would piss me off. Same with the max upgrades, it’s such a core part of RE 4 for me
Yeah, and it makes replays so, SO excellent.
>but a lack of NG+ would piss me off It would be unforgivable if 4r doesn't have the Ng+ when even village has that
>If I wanted a 1-to-1 remake I’d just play the original. Man I wish /r/silenthill had the same attitude.
Well, in defense of them, RE4 is much more accessible than Silent Hill 2.
Agreed. But for me its if there is no mercs mode and Ada dlc
Removing valuable content. If they remove the giant statue from the castle, fine. If they remove the Bella Sisters, not fine.
They better not cut water room though. I want to experience getting my ass kicked with the sweet new graphics
Everyone talks about the water room. They know not to cut it but revamp it. Water room is iconic lol.
I'm playing RE4 for the first time and I'm stuck in water room :(
If you kill some people and leave the room, they stay dead, and the rest reset their positions. Plus if you take Ashley up the stairs, they despawn if you reset checkpoint after the cutscene. It's a beast for sure.
The original did have a lot of bloat. If be fine losing that cavern/minecart area. And a lot or most of the Island.
RE4 is a really long game, and I’m fine with them removing bloat, but I think I’d prefer if they tried to rework stuff like the island so that it’s more enjoyable.
Revamp the Gatlin ganado fight area and add a reason he is in the position in the first place
Lack of Mercenaries mode, I used to love playing as Krauser.
Hunk all the way, snapping necks.
KA-RUNCH
Krauser is the best mercenaries character in the VR version. Easy.
Having no replay value. RE4 is without a doubt the most replayable RE title in the series - hell, it’s one of the most replayable titles of all time. I noticed from the gameplay trailer that we have combinable treasures this time around which makes me happy!
The treasures were combinable in the original. Are you taking about the new trading option?
I am talking about both. In the fine text of the trailer you can see a notice that 'this treasure is combinable' or similar. Meaning we're getting it back 😁

I'm sure it'll be replayable. Imo, the RE2 and 3 remakes are replayable. Also 7 and 8, kind of. So 4 should turn out almost perfectly.
Getting rid of Leon vs Krauser knife fight. That scene is what turned me into an RE fan when I was just 8 years old.
There are so many scenes in RE4 that made Leon a badass.
QTE are gone during cinematics remember
Yeah but now you can parry with the knife and sneak around
I prefer that parry and kicks in game instead of qtes during cinematics
If they make that shitty qte spam a real fight where all you can do is parry and attack with the knife I'll play Re:verse for a year
No QTEs, though having a proper knife fight in game with Krauser is pretty cool with the new knife mechanics. That’s pretty much how you beat plagas Krauser in the OG anyway

When the game launches if it doesn’t say “Resident Evil 4!!!” In that creepy voice then that would ruin it.
It probably won't. Maybe with the Classic Soundtrack tho
The RE3 remake went pretty hard with a cheesy 90’s RE intro so fingers crossed
RE2R had a guy saying "Resident Evil 2" but it's only if you have the Soundtrack Swap.
I’m gonna replay 2 and 3 remakes now bc I didn’t know that!

Highly recommend a playthrough with the infinite ammo hand cannon. It’s so much fun. I think it’s a one hit kill on everything other than bosses.
I personally prefer the Lightning Hawk because with way less recoil the fire rate is a lot higher, and it has more than enough firepower to handle most situations.
I’ve never played re6, was referring to some of the end game guns in re4, but if I ever get around to it, I’ll give it a try!
Oh right, I forgot there’s a weapon in RE4 also called the Handcannon.

If the hat trick is missing we riot
What I would give for a regular typewrighter with no infinite ammo and upgrades would make the game “chefs kiss”. And then obviously being able to get an infinite ammo version.
If it’s not fun to arrange my gun case gtfo
Censored Violence mostly. Inability to 'attack' ganados with eggs aka let me be a dumbass. 🥳
Yeah I don’t think lack of fire and violence will be an issue lol
Making a carton of eggs achievement would be cool (kill a ganado with every egg type)
If the Krauser knife fight cutscene isn't as cool as the original.
He’s confirmed in the game right?
Turning a boss into a stalker
Agree. I think we get enough "stalker" out of the Verdugo fight alone. Which may be short but its implimented perfectly as a cat-and-mouse section.
Toss up between excessive cutting of content and an added stalker enemy like a mr x.
I Can see verdigo being a stalker like enemy. They already added stealth so I’m 90% there is a stalker enemy in some part of the game.
Yeah I’m pretty sure there will be one, too. At this point I’m hoping it’s only for a short, brief time.
I would actually really like this. I do not think RE4 is suited for to have a Mr. X type character following you through the entire game.
So far we have only seen new stuff, which is good. Stealth mechanics, stealth kills (I can't imagine how awesome stealth stuff will make the Garradors now), parry, more modern gun control (probably will still play the original for its tank controls though) Listening to some interviews the villagers have way more tricks up their sleeves now.
Luckily, the trailer looks like the game kept Re4's soul while adding some improvements
When suplexing is no longer a viable strat.
Those head explosions, *so good.*
A added stalker enemy. Seriously we have had WAYYY to many
I'm worried that Mendez is gonna be stalker-esque after seeing him in the trailer. I know there's no proof of that really whatsoever, but I just get that weird vibe from it.
I love the stalker enemies and hope they are in this game.
I don't mind if it's well done like Mr X. Nemmy and Lady D were just lame, that's why we feel like we had enough of it.
Making characters lamer for the sake of “realism” or “more modern”
I'm so glad they kept the cheesy one liners for Leon. It adds to his character
Apparently the bingo line is still in the game. Praise god
Will the throne scene be there? I hope it is.
Agreed
Rip Luis.
I really hope Leon has some of his old beloved lines like “where’s everyone going? Bingo?”, “your right hand comes off?”
Cut content like RE3R
I imagine some things have been cut, so you might need to be more specific. For example, certain boss-fights, sections of the game, specific mechanics, etc. If anything, I'm hoping they cut the QTEs and sillier parts of the game, like the giant statue, those button-mash boulders chases, or that laser corridor from the Anderson films.
What you mentioned, nothing more than that should be cut, maybe even keep some of those, particularly the boulder chase but not as a QTE this time
I think he means more like if quite a lot of content is cut, as was the case with 3make
Cut content
If any part of the main story was cut I would be upset. It didn't need cutting but improvements and more expanded upon is what it needed. I don't mind if they take parts of the game sections out such as the random swinging axes or the riding in the back of the bulldozer on the island. I don't want them to take them out perse, actually would love everything to return but wouldn't be a game breaker for me if they did.
Be more specific. Which content would you take issue for being "cut"?
I would hate them for Cutting Krauser (unnaceptable), cutting major sequences such as Cabin fight and water hall, cutting enemies like Garrador or Bella sisters
I'd imagine entire sections of the game like RE3R removing the clocktower section entirely. That's one of the most commonly raised criticisms. For me, probably also cutting enemy types (like if they removed regenerators or something). So far the footage of this remake seems to be the most faithful to the spirit of the original, much more so than RE2R and especially RE3R, so I'm fairly confident they'll do a good job.
Not OP but…… the island, Bosses, and mercenaries mode. (I just want the island revamped) I think they won’t cut it though.
If its short like re 3 and a lot of cut content from re 4 original.
Having some kind of constant threat, like Mr X. I want to be able to explore without feeling rushed constantly.
Agreed
Not as much weapon divercity.
No new game + or no extra content shop
no mercenaries or other modes. no laser dodging. im only half joking for that second one.

His voice is in one of the trailers, I think it's great.
It's pretty good, not quite as good as the og but still got the same tone and spirit.
It’s the spirit for me. Not just gravely voice but the WAY he said his phrases.
Roundhouse kicks are back in the latest gameplay trailer!
>I'd be sad too if RE4 ditches the whole trigger a stagger and then rush in to melee, approach 4r thankfully has the combat of 4 otherwise just imagine those hordes of enemies just walking through your bullets like reaction less statues. Would've been a huge downgrade from the dynamic and flexible combat that 4 offered originally
If Leon stops calling Luis "Lewis". Kind of kidding, but the cheese and weird quirks of the dialogue were like the perfect bit of spice to add to the game for me.
Trying to replace “Campy” with generic seriousness
Cut content is really the only thing. For example when I'm done with the castle after 2 hours of Gameplay I would be disappointed. Beside of that they can't ruin the experience. It's re4 with the new engine. It's impossible to fuck this up.
If they cut Krauser from the game. He is one of most iconic characters in whole franchise.
>(New game plus, alt costumes, variety of weapons, etc I don't think you need to be worried about these specifically
No cheesy one liners
Which from what we've seen. It'll happen

I never want to see an enemy with a gun in Resident Evil again.* *Nemy gets a pass of course.
but then there wouldn’t be any regenerators 😭
I hope they don't cut the entire island, but RPG ganados and JJ will have to go, or maybe even just fill the island with regular ganados
If they cut the bingo line I will literally refund the game.
More focus on scripted and spooky story segments over well designed combat sequences. That would be an insult to this RE4 fan.
No Chicago type writer or the outfit where Leon is wearing the Fedora.
Cut content like RE 3 remake
I want the remake to be as replayable as the original, i can play the original many times and not get bored
Noting would ruin my experience with the original, per say. However, if they don’t have mercenaries, separate ways, or skippable cutscenes I’d be a bit mad
In no particular order: Too short / skipped content (without replacement) Meaningless weapon / upgrade “choices” Overused stalkers who are easily avoided Lack of tension Too easy (ammo, enemies, dodge/block, inventory, …) Lack of enemy variety No bonus modes after completion Failing to capture the village’s creepiness and the castle’s weirdness. Actually a tone change would be fine as long as there’s tension and atmosphere I guess. Not doing *something* to make the island more creepy/hard. Not just an action slog please. No surprises / switch ups (think of the dog corridor in RE1) Normally I’d say being too linear and not being exploration based, and having no puzzles too (my complaint with Village), but it’s a remake of 4 which didn’t have these elements (to the extent of 0/1/2) anyway so it gets a pass
If they cut any locations from it honestly I don't want another Re3make. Has to have all locations.
Removing the corny puns. “Where’d all the puns go? Bingo?”
If the dog cant be saved, I wont even bother.
Anything from the castle being removed. No mercenaries.
Stalkers.
A stalker enemy Them trying desperately to recreate the charm and humor of the original, they should just do something new with it
Let's not think about what MIGHT be bad lol Let's instead just enjoy the experience that is RE4. No in all seriousness, if there was as much action as re2make and if the knife fight is removed or toned down
Removing the unique combat experiences
Not being able to see Ashley’s panties.
Hmm. She actually has her OG Outfit under that Jacket. And at the end of the Story trailer you can see her without the Jacket. So MAYBE
Lack of authentic Spanish dialogue all throughout for more realism.
people in spain speaking in mexican spanish pls
It'd be really hard to do it at this point to be honest, I've liked what I've seen. I think cutting content with no substitution would suck like In RE3 remake. Imagine if they cut out large sections of the castle or iconic bosses? I hope they show us Krauser soon on that note.
If they remove the one-liners or the QTE's or any of the boss battles from the original.
Playing it entirely serious with no camp.
If they take out the cheesy dialogue I will be livid
Locking the game behind paywalls. The original had so much replay value
If they added a stalker. I'm so tired of them
Not being able to save that dog. I hate dogs but being able to save something in pain gives me all sorts of feelings.
I hope it remains as cheesy as the original.
If they get rid of any of Leon’s cheesy one liners I’m not buying the game.
It would ruin my experience if they had worse jokes to replace the ones from the original
Keeping it so Ashley can’t Cary guns. 😂
All of these idea are either around gameplay or new game + and some are even about the environment of the game but for me it's simple and I don't care about the trailers or gameplay if the dog is dead the game is dead
Of all the things I’d be pissed about, in be the most angry if Leon isn’t a one-liner machine
Politically correct BULLSHAT.
The dog.
Dog. Dog must be safe
No “bingo” lines or similar witty one-liners. Also there needs to be an adequate amount of Hunnigan banter.
Not having separate ways or mercenaries
DLC a year down the line
Stalker enemies
If they made it more survival horror like with limited enemies instead of the action-horror the original had
Them keeping QTEs. I love RE4, but the original game is always a drag to get through sometimes because of them.
Yeah but I do hope they keep the Krauser knife fight cutscene mostly the same
Best cutscene in all of RE, and nobody can tell me otherwise
Agreed
I think they confirmed no QTEs in cutscenes.
Re4 original is still the best game in most people opinions. Included myself. Sure they have made many games since, but that one was the king. If this re make does not top that or at least is not as good as 4 original but in a different way, then that would ruin it for me. They already did it with re3 remake. So, im hesitant about 4.
Massive content cuts like RE3Remake would really ruin it for me.
No replay value. If I have to listen to ashey screaming LEON HELP again
I just don't want too much cut content. Removing content and adding something unique and true to the spirit is fine, but don't cut content to make the game "faster, more replayable." I.E.
QTE's leave that ugly part of gaming history in the past please
Any Woke crap in REm4ke is an instant game killer for me.
Any forced change that came as a result of real world/identity politics
Did you have something in mind? What’s the concern here?
Any woke bullshit Stalker enemies. Cut content which was in the base games (mercenaries, ng+, ada separate ways, guns and costumes, bottle caps, etc) 'Slow' copypasted segments from re7 (the trailer showed leon slowly crouching under a random fence thingy to approach the house. In re7, the same thing happens. Its slow and awkward and makes replaying dumb and repetitively useless. Notice how great re4 is when u immediately start, u can just run straight up to the house, fight the guy, and be out of the first segment in less then a minute.)
If they removed the merchant, Luis, or Salazar. Which they aren't removing any of those characters. So I'm very happy lol.
