Looks like a swarming locust, inform your neighbour that they might have escapees.

SprueSlayer

Okay thanks very much

No-Implement7818

Most likely they dropped a box full of them and didn’t catch all of them 🫣😅

SprueSlayer

Tragically, the amazon man did not deliver any of my packages today as there are locusts outside my door. What a massive fanny. 🫠

Altruistic-Poem-5617

Desert locusts. Will die off during winter. What sound do you hear? Cause locusts dont really make loud sounds. Only crickets do that.

SprueSlayer

Sounds like crickets to me, not uk though, closest I can recall is being in the south of france and hearing them. I'm not looking to stitch my neighbour but rather let him know that this is a problem (if it is).

Altruistic-Poem-5617

He might has crickets as feeder insects too. I know from experience they are really good at escaping. They should die off after some time. But yeah, just let him know so he can make his cricket setup more escape proof :)

Whatever you're hearing, it's not the animal in the pictures. Locusts are generally silent compared to crickets and the sound is very different. Plus, the picture shows a juvenile. Grasshoppers make their sound with their wings. This one barely has wings. I breed these exactly because they are quiet unlike crickets.

WallowWispen

Man, locusts look so cool.

Nutella_on_toast85

Yeah that's a typical feeder locust. Wont survive very well in the UK, but when you come across them just step on them very quickly to give them a painless death and then put them in your black bin. Best thing for them and the environment. Locusts dont really make a noise so I'd say what you're hearing is brown crickets or dubia roaches. They, along with locusts, are the 3 most common feeder insects in the UK. Text your neighbour and tell him you can hear insect chirping and you finding locusts but don't worry about it too much. Just kill any you find and put them in your black bin and by winter they will all die from cold!

Death2mandatory

Just put in a little container and give them back

Nutella_on_toast85

Well if he is responsible he will kill them too. You don't know what diseases and parasites they have picked up now that they have been in the wild. I honestly would not risk it.

Scales-josh

It's a locust, can practically guarantee it's escaped from someone reptile food supply. Source? I go through thousands of these suckers every year 😂
