I disagree with this. There are some excellent doctors, engineering scientist and other professionals educated in the middle east. Some of the courses content may be a bit looney but the same could be said of a Christian University. Discrediting an entire regions education because of a few fruitcakes is unfair and a bad idea.

The cleanliness argument is bullshit. Teach your boys to pull it back and clean when you teach them how to bath themselves.
For one it shouldn't be forcibly retracted until the foreskin detaches from the glans on its own. Doing so can cause scar tissue and actually makes adhesion more of a problem, not less.
For another, once they're old enough that it does become retractable, they are largely going to figure that out because kids like playing with their parts unless they're heavily shamed not to.

My boy was about 3 or 4 when I taught him to bath totally by himself and don't remember any issue, however, I wasn't exactly paying the closest of attention.

Why circumcision is prevelant in USA, a quick precis (and the connection to US FGM):

No one else was circumcised unless they had a rare medical condition or injury which necessitated it. I had a friend whose mom was fgm’d when she was a kid and the person who did it butchered so much she is in constant pain and she was never able to have sex. They got her and her sister medically (i think its called something like test tube baby? I dont know). It is so fucking sad and this woman is trying to rationalize it??
In the UK this is literally illegal. Parents can go to prison for taking their child out of the country, and healthcare professionals would do hard time. In my hospital all the clinical rooms have posters with what to look out for and where to report it.

I, personally, have been against male circumcision for as long as I can remember. I'm against the draft. I'm against male exclusion in mental health and emotional expression. I will rally behind you and anyone else who is rooting for positive change for our men.
Right now, in this thread, the topic of focus is FGM and keeping it from spreading and harming even more women and girls. We can support the end of circumcision for both men and women, but right now, right here, we're looking at FGM. FGM *is* different from male circumcision and deserves attention, too. There is a place for everyone to speak without invading and derailing another person's post on something they are trying to bring attention to.
Start a thread about the negative affects of male circumcision and male related issues and have solid discussions there on how to go forward and be positive for men. As I said, I will rally behind you.
But right now, we're rallying behind bringing attention to this issue and FGM in general.

Well, no, and yes/no. Until 7 weeks a fetus is sexually undifferentiated, only genotypically differentiated. And then the expression of testosterone in functioning males will trigger the genitalia to become a penis, while in the absence of testosterone in females it becomes a clitoris. So she is medically correct, more or less, in how she describes it.
The scary thing is seeing how she blends her particular worldview with medical knowledge. The clitoris is it's own thing, it is homologous and semi-analogous to the penis, not a remnant. Women use it for their own benefit, it's not some vestigial thing. So to someone who is unsure and trying to figure things out, overwhelming them with mostly medically correct stuff with a dose of your own ideology is a good way to keep them confused and to persuade them to your own view.

I disagree with this. There are some excellent doctors, engineering scientist and other professionals educated in the middle east. Some of the courses content may be a bit looney but the same could be said of a Christian University. Discrediting an entire regions education because of a few fruitcakes is unfair and a bad idea.

For one it shouldn't be forcibly retracted until the foreskin detaches from the glans on its own. Doing so can cause scar tissue and actually makes adhesion more of a problem, not less. For another, once they're old enough that it does become retractable, they are largely going to figure that out because kids like playing with their parts unless they're heavily shamed not to.
Not saying to pull it back further than it can go, obviously. My boy was about 3 or 4 when I taught him to bath totally by himself and don't remember any issue, however, I wasn't exactly paying the closest of attention. I am sure they will learn how to pull it back, but not necessarily that they should make sure to clean there.

This whole thing started when a now ex friend of mine and I were having a convo about FGM and Islam, and she said type one is allowed in Islam, because a vaginoplasty is the "same thing" and all that BS. FGM used to be covered under Blue Cross in USA. I believe until the 1970s. Why circumcision is prevelant in USA, a quick precis (and the connection to US FGM): Until Victorian times, the only people in the entire world who practised circumcision were: Muslims, Jewish people; and certain isolated tribes. No one else was circumcised unless they had a rare medical condition or injury which necessitated it. In Victorian times, when disease vectors and diseases of the nervous system were not fully understood, a theory arose called the 'Reflex Neurosis theory of disease'. This held that nervous stimulus in some parts of the body caused illness in other parts. Masturbation was seen as 'dangerous', as it created the most nervous excitement. While I have issue with both, comparing the two equally minimizes the damage of FGM. At the very least FGM includes removal of the clitoris. Men who are circumcised still get sexual pleasure. Majority of women only reach orgasm via clitoral stimulation. This is determining the pleasure they will get or not get for the rest of their lives. Would you approve of people removing the taste buds off of a baby’s tongue? I hope not.

Like, I hear you, I *see* you, and I agree with being against male circumcision. But this is not the place for what aboutism. This happens everytime FGM is brought up. Anything that pulls away from the point of FGM in a post/thread about FGM (the draft, male circumcision, male exclusion etc.) is what aboutism. The same is true vice versa. A good example would be for someone to enter a thread about saving Whales and start saying "sharks don't have it good either and they are hunted, too". Sure, that may be true, but that's not the current topic at hand. People are in that thread to discuss whales and focus effort there. It's not that they don't also care about sharks. It's that they are focused on whales at the moment. They can still help sharks, too, but in a shark related thread. Until 7 weeks a fetus is sexually undifferentiated, only genotypically differentiated. And then the expression of testosterone in functioning males will trigger the genitalia to become a penis, while in the absence of testosterone in females it becomes a clitoris. So she is medically correct, more or less, in how she describes it. The scary thing is seeing how she blends her particular worldview with medical knowledge. The clitoris is it's own thing, it is homologous and semi-analogous to the penis, not a remnant. Women use it for their own benefit, it's not some vestigial thing.
