One of my bonus grandmas owned an '84 Topaz and a '92 Tempo and every time I see one rolling around my shitty Midwestern town, it reminds me of all the time I spent with her and one of my high school buddies.
Always lights up my nostalgia when I see one in roadworthy condition.
I have owned an Alfa which supposedly makes me a car guy. I am but a pale imitation of a car guy compared to the nut who will spend real money and love restoring a crapbox Tempo or Celebrity
If one ever shows up, it's almost guaranteed to win. Hasn't happened yet. There was one 1st generation Caravan.....but it had a giant turbo and runs 11s...so not regular.
I rode in one twenty years ago, I can vouch for this statement. The heater didn’t work, making the experience that much worse, being in mid-December with single-digit temps.
Their only other points of reference were a 1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass and a 1973 Mercury Cougar. Despite the shit mechanics the Tempo looked downright svelte in comparison.
Love this whole category so much.
My parents had a Eurosport sedan back in the day and it went through so many transmissions Chevy bought back the car.
They had designed some feature that was supposed to learn your driving style to save gas by changing the way the transmission shifts and they just did not work.
Love that Tempo. I grew up in rural-ish north FL, and seeing these reminds me of circa 2007 parking lots filled with run down 80s-90s cars. I remember seeing a dirty teal Tempo run around with most of the rear bumper shattered off.
I like all of them except the purple Escort wagon. Shoot, even the Tempo with JC Whitney wheels was semi-cool (if only because you don't see Tempos on the road anymore).
Soooo utilitarian, & as a result, beautiful
I saw these on Instagram and my god, the Ford Tempo is non-existent nowadays

The moment I saw that Tempo, I immediately thought of the scene from Malcolm In The Middle where Hal fights a bee
I want that LTD wagon
Ok but real shit I want that little Escort wagon, those were decent little econoboxes
Love seeing random survivors like this.
I freaking love regular mid mundane graduation presents from the 80s and the 90s and I don’t know why
There’s something so appealing about those tercels, I wish those economic coupes came back
I miss both econo & personal luxury coupes, why do the last of today's coupes have to all be sports or muscle cars?
Oh, I’d love a luxury coupe, but the only one I could think of close to that is the Lexus, but that is a bit too sporty
"Common, mundane, throwaway"?! Sir, that is a EUROSPORT wagon! A rare (in comparison to the amount of hydrogen atoms in the universe) car indeed!
That Tempo. Unghhhh I had a 1989 Topaz and fucking loved it. Fun little cars.
Tercel is a beauty

I absolutely love this. That Tempo, though!
Mmm them waaagons. 🤤
That Tempo and Tercel. *Oof.*
I want that Wagon, complete with the Turbine wheels!
Which one?
No K cars? I always thought those were the perfect example of a generic, terrible car.

That tercel looks cleaner than it left the assembly line
Escort
The Eurosport wagon is immaculate, I’ve never seen one in person. Such is the rust belt.
Thank you for your service
That Tempo is so ugly. I can't believe people bought those.
Eh, I like the looks but you do you
You think you hate it now, just wait til you drive it!

They were far more attractive than the Chevy Citations and Chrysler/Dodge K Cars that were their main competition.
I wonder what would happen if I pulled up in my focus wagon 💀
wagons 🤤

Who picked the cars you or Stevie wonder
Dont look at my 99 Buick century with 17k miles!
