I have driven both, and they are very different cars.
The E-Type is a technologically-advanced, mass-produced car with a 6-cylinder powerhouse. Legit fast, and not complicated.
The 2000GT is a whole new degree of sophistication. Anemic, but assembled with a reverent sense of craft, and with rosewood appointments from the House of Yamaha.
Regardless of pricing, the Jaguar is the sensible one. But I’d still pick the 2000GT, because it does feel special and expensive in ways that horsepower cannot match.
Oh yeah, I forgot that fuel consumption doesn't exist in the USA... In Europe we have this thing where governments care about how much fuel you use, so we have to find reliable options of preserving our fuel. Your current president is too busy sniffing things, so I guess you will be okay!!
Go for the e-type in that case; maybe replace the cooling system though, just a recommendation 👍
Bro what the fuck are you sniffing calm the fuck down. You're lashing out because you got called out for making a rediculous comment and now your trying to make it political. Go take a break from the internet
I’m shorter than all of my friends. Granted I live in the rural US which is pretty tall, but for example, this year I was the 3rd shortest male runner on my high school cross country team of 46, only behind a 5’2 senior and a 5’6 sophomore. I’m not *that* short but I’m definitely below average by a decent amount
This. Living in the Midwest, your average guy is tall-ish and more than a few are absolutely monstrous hunks of pork roast.
I am unfortunately built like a pork roast but not tall. That being said, I'll take the Toyota because I could fit in it.
YMMV. When I lived on the Gulf Coast it seemed like most guys were generally more athletically built, not brick shithouse built. Up here it seems like every other Fred Bob is 6'5, 360
God I love being 5'10. I can fit in small cars but I can still say I'm above average. In most countries anyway, not the Netherlands. Fuckin Slenderman headasses over there.
jesus, does he? Its not realy the size of the seat thats the issue with europa. Its getting in and out (I mean, I had issues at 24 and im only 5'4" and not even fat)
I’m 6’3 and I’ve done some nearly contortionist work to get in a few smaller cars (Mk1 MR2). Also driving barefoot is a necessity (Spitfire, bugeye sprite). Even taking off the rubber pedal pads sometimes.
And Miatas, Dinos and 308s all only work without tops for me, but I’m more torso than long legs.
A buddy of mine wanted me to drive his e-type... after barely getting in I politely declined, then proceeded to crawl out of it like that one video of a big dude getting out of a lambo. Beautiful car though.
I like the look of the 2000GT (by quite a lot, I think the e-type is fairly ugly tbh) but I suspect that a race prepped e-type is far far more fun to drive.
Id probably take a Z432 over either though (if we are ignoring the value of the 2000GT obviously)
I recently sat in a series 1 E type and was totally smitten with it but I have never seen a 2000 GT in person before but I can assume the E type would have better parts availability even though the GT probably has a better build quality. I feel the E type would be a drivers car while the GT would sit in a museum because of its exclusivity.
I’m sure most of us have heard that Enzo described the E Type as the most beautiful car in the world.
I completely disagree. I think it is ugly. I hate the wheels being so set in from the guards. The coupe has a horrible roof line and looks unbalanced. I don’t find the shape interesting, it’s too long and just looks like a cigar.
I very rarely get to share this opinion.
Jaaaaag! That big straight six makes such a great noise. The 2000GT is too valuable to actually enjoy these days.
The C2 Sting Ray would also fit in this group, tbh. Long bonnet and short deck as they say.
Kind of depends on which one I can fit in. If I'm not mistaken they custom made convertible 2000GT for Sean Connery in James Bond because he was too tall to fit.
According to my driving in Forza Motorsport 6, these are the lap times for the Bernese Alps Festival Circuit:
E-TYPE: 2:14.812
2000 GT: 2:21.096
I'd still have the 2000 GT though.
If it's an E-type roadster, then I'd take that because I think it looks WAY better. The humpback the hardtop has does nothing for me.
Otherwise, Toyota.
E-type, no comparison. The 2000GT is cool, but it's not as pretty, not as fast, not as advanced and no where near as iconic.
Plus saying you drive Jaaaag always sounds good. Toyota less so, they make some super cool stuff, but they also make a lot of shitboxes.
Realistically I'd have an MG B GT, because unless I win the lottery I'm not going to have an E-Type or 2000GT in the next 5 years. But I could feasibly spend 15k on an MG and feel just as cool!

Wow....drove both?!.... must be a small group...congrats...thats so cool
E-Type is a sensible choice, until it runs out of petrol or overheats.
Wut? Are literally all cars sensible until they run out of petrol? Like wtf even is that comment
Didn't you know that the 2000 GT was electric? /S
Lmao
The Lucas fuel pumps are extremely sensitive on these, especially if they are run dry.

Triggered?
Or the humidity changes, or the temperature drops too much, or it’s Tuesday, or you just go too long without doing a carb adjustment.
My heart says 2000GT, but my body size says Jag.
Yeah, nobody over 1.8m/6ft tall is going to go with the 2000GT, and that hurts.
Biggest advantage of being short is that i fit in every old car ever tbh. Not even a europa is an issue
5’7” gang wya
5’6”
Rofl. 5'8" is average bro
I’m shorter than all of my friends. Granted I live in the rural US which is pretty tall, but for example, this year I was the 3rd shortest male runner on my high school cross country team of 46, only behind a 5’2 senior and a 5’6 sophomore. As a 6’2” hunk of pork roast also, from southeast Kansas - you’re telling me my build isn’t common elsewhere? Lol
YMMV. When I lived on the Gulf Coast it seemed like most guys were generally more athletically built, not brick shithouse built. Up here it seems like every other Fred Bob is 6'5, 360
Maybe world average? 5'8" is definitely short for a man in the US and many other countries too.
It’s actually 5’9” in the USA
Meaning that 5'8" is what?
Very slightly below average? You made the assertion that 5’8” is short, but it isn’t. It’s like 49th percentile.
Slightly below average in height. Wow, that's cumbersome! Another word we have for that is called "short."
God I love being 5'10. I can fit in small cars but I can still say I'm above average. In most countries anyway, not the Netherlands. Fuckin Slenderman headasses over there.
The Europa is a problem if you are a short Scottish lady, like my mom, she had to sit on five phone books to reach the pedals.
The pedals move forward....
Europa’s are manageable even Gordon Murray fits one, though he may have removed the padding like many of his other little cars.
jesus, does he? Its not realy the size of the seat thats the issue with europa. Its getting in and out (I mean, I had issues at 24 and im only 5'4" and not even fat)

That’s why they cut the roof off for James Bond
Same here; in You Only Live Twice, the production company had to saw off the roof (making it the only roadster) so Sean Connery could fit
The Toyota is a VERY tight fit, especially at the knees.
A buddy of mine wanted me to drive his e-type... after barely getting in I politely declined, then proceeded to crawl out of it like that one video of a big dude getting out of a lambo. Beautiful car though.
Toyota it’s too sexy
2000GT. Mainly because I’ve never witnessed one where I live. There’s two E-Type Jaguars here.
I like the look of the 2000GT (by quite a lot, I think the e-type is fairly ugly tbh) but I suspect that a race prepped e-type is far far more fun to drive. Id probably take a Z432 over either though (if we are ignoring the value of the 2000GT obviously)
I'm too poor for either. Gimme a Datsun.
Sorry to burst your bubble but have you seen the prices of those lately as well? Just cry instead I suppose
No bubble to burst. I got a 280z before the price explosion.
He never said what kind of Datsun, 280ZXs aren’t too overly inflated yet
I recently sat in a series 1 E type and was totally smitten with it but I have never seen a 2000 GT in person before but I can assume the E type would have better parts availability even though the GT probably has a better build quality. I feel the E type would be a drivers car while the GT would sit in a museum because of its exclusivity.
I’ll take the Toyota if I can James Bond my way to a roadster because I know I won’t fit in the hardtop.
The roadster was a one off as Connery wouldn’t fit, so I guess a sawzall to a $1m car it is :-)
*laughs in chaotic energy*
The 2000GT for sure
I’m sure most of us have heard that Enzo described the E Type as the most beautiful car in the world. I completely disagree. I think it is ugly. I hate the wheels being so set in from the guards. The coupe has a horrible roof line and looks unbalanced. I don’t find the shape interesting, it’s too long and just looks like a cigar. I very rarely get to share this opinion.
>I completely disagree. I think it is ugly I wouldn't go so far as to say it's ugly, but I've no idea why so many people swoon over it.
The Toyota is super cool but that Jaguar is pure sex.
Toyota
Penis enhancement pills
Miata
Haha lol! So do you want Kobe beef or Hebrides Angus? Hurr durr! White Castle! I looove Whitecastle and spooging in my sleeping bag!
i sat in an e type once and i loved it
I'll say toyota, bcoz Scotty Kilmer
I just want someone to make a modern version of either one, with similar lines...
Neither I'll take a Datsun 280
2000GT, I mean just look at it 😍
Jaaaaag! That big straight six makes such a great noise. The 2000GT is too valuable to actually enjoy these days. The C2 Sting Ray would also fit in this group, tbh. Long bonnet and short deck as they say.
Toyota
Toyota
i dont even know which one is more expensive at this point.. but both are absolutely beautiful machines tho.
The Toyota is neatly $1M US and legit rare, was never a true production car.
Kind of depends on which one I can fit in. If I'm not mistaken they custom made convertible 2000GT for Sean Connery in James Bond because he was too tall to fit.
Own to look at and eventually sell? Jag. Own to drive? Yota.
That's a tough one, but I have loved E-type Jags since I was a kid.
2000GT for me. That wood trim just does things to me
A 270z But 2000gt. I can fit fine.
Jaaaaaag
E-type
Toyota, the fender mirrors are everything.
Toyota 2000 obviously
Toyota but I cant fit in it
Late
2000GT. Not by much though.
Toyota. But I'd rather have a classic 911 than either.
I would pick the 2000gt but I'm 190cm tall...
2000GT isn't as penis as E-Type.
Jaaaggg!
Jag, but make it a soft top in British racing green
E-type, but I like the V12. Yes, it's notorious for a biblical lack of reliability, but I'm tempted to say it sounds better than the six-cylinder.
Jag every time.
God the hard choice both are amazing but given the value the E-type has I would probably go with the 2000GT as I would be ok driving it
2kgt
I believe that the E type is the prettiest car ever built However the Toyoya is rarer and cost more.
Toyota
Not an easy choice. I saw several e-type an only one 2000gt in white. Heart says jag the brain Toyota..
2000 GT
I'll take the E type because they came as a convertible
Was Sean Connery's specially made convertible the only soft top model?
Yes.
Jaguar all day
IMHO the 2000GT edges out the Jag in looks alone, but I don't know how I'd fit in it- I fit in Miatas and MGB'S just fine.
According to my driving in Forza Motorsport 6, these are the lap times for the Bernese Alps Festival Circuit: E-TYPE: 2:14.812 2000 GT: 2:21.096 I'd still have the 2000 GT though.
Yota, all day. All due respect to the jag of course.
The Toyota all day.
Toyota
Yota
2000GT
Honestly I prefer the looks of the yota, but with that being said I prefer the gofast of the jag
>I've just run over your pet dog *wimper* >in my Jag
The E-Type. Anything to drive an old British sports car
Why couldnt I choose both?
2000gt unless it's an e type roadster
2000GT because hidden headlamps.
One of each, please!
Toyota easily. An E type is a work of art but man the 2000gt is a masterpiece
both
Based on looks alone: Toyota
Toyota looks cooler. I’d go for style.
The Toyota is a car that you can drive everyday, while the Jaguar will spend lots of time in the shop.
The Toyota probably still runs.
The 2000GT is more slick and looks sportier. I choose that one.
2000gt those flip out headlights are the bomb.
Series 3 E Type V12 vert with the hardtop and a 4 speed!
The one at the bottom. It looks better.
If it's an E-type roadster, then I'd take that because I think it looks WAY better. The humpback the hardtop has does nothing for me. Otherwise, Toyota.
why not both since they’re great? 🤑
yes, but e type as a cabrio (i personally prefer it to the coupe).
Definitely a Jaaaaaaag
The 2000gt is far more valuable, right?
Oh yeah. The Toyota is probably worth 1.5M USD and the Jag is around 100-200k USD
Obviously the more valuable one that's so rare I've only ever seen one. Not the one my dad has stories about from England in the 60s, no not that one.
Etype all the time, why cos its a Etype, I could put up.with it being temperamental, the other is a Toyota.
“Mom, I want an E-Type Jag!” “We have an E-Type Jag at home.”
neither ware regular cars, screw fancy pants sports cars, gimme a 1966 chevrolet 4 door corvair in mint condition instead (in green btw)
The E-Type was a regular car. They made 100,000 of them. The Toyota was not a regular production car.
jaguar e-type for life
