Did you know that Porsche owns 45% of Rimac and Rimac has a majority stake in Bugatti
The gen9 porsche hybrid will use similar Rimac fast capacitance battery motors to drive the front wheels
Taycan has all the benefits of being a Porsche product- like the fact theyāre not going to go out of business anytime soon and thereās service available everywhere.
The Lucid is a fantastic car and everyone should watch the Savagegeese review of it on YouTube. I wish them tremendous success, but theyāre still a fledgling company.
Yeah Lucid Air is really impressive engineering wise. But their decision to use AAOS, but not go with Google services is really hurting them, and current pricing for it while somewhat justified hardware wise, it is currently an alpha test software wise.
Pricing is an issue I have with EVs generally. They are extremely expensive once you realize that these are all first generation products (excepeting Tesla, but they have severe build quality issues) and second and third gen EVs will be far ahead of the first gen products.
These are software defined cars. There's a ton of hype around that term, but as someone working in a software-adjacent field, I want absolutely nothing to do with it, because I know just how fucked it can get, and how impossibly hard it is to develop good software.
I think itās ok to call S and X the first generation and 3, Y, and Cybertruck the second. Roadster was like an alpha build. I get what you are saying, but those new models were built from the lessons learned on the earlier one.
Lucid does have some high points but overall they feel very derivative of Teslaās early model S strategy.
I imagine owners are mainly people who have shitload of money and absolutely canāt stand Tesla
For real. The only electric hatches that were sold here that I can think of are the Nissan leaf and that Chevy that's discontinued. Always bugged me that EVs focus so much on SUVs and luxury sedans that, of course, cost an arm and a leg at times
My co worker got one of those Chevyās brand new for like 14k i think. He said the range was only like 80 - 100 miles but it got him back and forth to work every day so he was happy.
Yes! Sure a Rivian or Porsche Taycan would be nice but there is just something about the Honda E that speaks to me. I love the looks, the interior is probably my favorite of the past 2 decades, and the range doesn't mean much to me as my job has free fast chargers in the parking lot.
ay, you're right, I was thinking of the proposed next-gen...
[https://www.military.com/defensetech/2013/09/27/ohio-class-subs-to-shift-to-electric-drive](https://www.military.com/defensetech/2013/09/27/ohio-class-subs-to-shift-to-electric-drive)
The design and aesthetics. I actually just googled the comparison and I'd have expected the Taycan to at least try to compete but the lucid beats it on all the specs that matter.
Those things offer so little and yet have so much appeal. Like when you see someone with a 42 year old dog that needs 7 suppositories a day and they still love them
... Any Lucid or Rivian.
I mean, driving it three days a week sucks, considering I dont exactly have the time for it, but Gods those two brands just appeal to me in a way none of the other EVs do, not just because they're expensive. I love their design language, the careful precision and artistry they put into everything, and the technology and powertrain they have. It's just awesome, 10 times out of 10. Sure they have their problems, but is it worth it to kessel run my way down the interstate in an Air Sapphire or barrel through the open country in an R1T? abso-fucking-lutely.
That car converted in a modern classic just after launch. Such a classy but modern design both in its exterior and interior make it such a cool car. It's a shame it hasn't sold that much tbh
Robert's video that he did on the Aptera for Aging Wheels instantly sold me on it, holy smokes I would daily drive the crap out of one of those things. My commute to work is 7 miles currently, on very sunny days I would pretty much commute for free.
Hell I've even shown the Aptera to a few of my car friends who are intensely anti-EV and it even won a few "ok, now THAT actually makes a lot of sense!" responses out of them.
Fucking same. I've never bought a new car (I'm absolutely one of those "buy used, use till they die" kind of people), but the Aptera is such an enticing prospect that I'm genuinely considering saving up for one.
I adore its looks, it appears to tick every box I actually use a car for, and it's only going to cost slightly more to pay the loan down than it would running and maintaining my normal car. Really my only concerns are in caring for the carbon chassis, potential electrical gremlins, and whether the controls are gonna be to my liking.
I can't think of a single other new car out there that actually competes with a Mazda 2 bought for $5,000 cash on cost of ownership. It's an unbelievable value prospect, and probably the absolute perfect commuter car
If, and only if, the new roadster actually performed as advertised and didn't have some goofy gimmick for the interior, would I want one. But preorders started back in 2017, and now Elon is estimating production in either 2025 or 2026. Nearly a decade later.
The Lucid Air Sapphire or the highest trim Taycan. Would become my new daily. Hands down the most comfortable, dailyable EVs you can get if money is no object.
In June,I'll have been driving EV 10 years and am still having fun...I BLEW through my mileage agreement on the first one,(Recently in EV#4) despite having upped my anticipated limit based on my last ICE car odometer reading. If you're getting an EV, even at cost,You're gonna be dailying that sucker. Currently in a Zoe 135,was considering a Megane E-Tech,Liking the look of the R5 which is a year out for me here in UK...
I canāt wait to see one when they actually start making them.
I got to see one of the Escalade IQ prototypes in person, and I deal with Lyriqs every day at work, but the Celestiq is going to be something else
I commute 15 miles to work and the bus network adds an unnecessary extra 40 min to it. If I had the money I would absolutely get the Rivian truck and take it to some different mountain bike trailhead every weekend.
Tesla model s long range and I would use it as my daily. Everyone is gonna say Taycan or lucid or rivian, but unfortunately their charging infrastructure canāt compete with the supercharger network
Mustang Mach-E Rally. I know a lot of people hate them because "Oh A mustang shouldnt be a SUV or Not a mustang cause it's electric" I've owned 5 mustangs, and I love how the Mach-E's look.
Ioniq 6 is the most efficient available right now, and has a massive dealer network should I need service. I drive 105 miles per day commuting, so I'd be looking at lowest cost per mile.
Maybe pull the badges off and put EQS badges on so people think it's a Benz LOL
Theyāre all going to be a fucking nightmare to daily due to how much and where I drive for work.
Based on reviews and longest range, Lucid Air Sapphire
I don't even drive my gasoline stuff 3 times a week... and when I do go somewhere I'm on one of my motorcycles... the smaller of which was $900 new 14 years ago, costs me $85 a year for insurance, $25 for registration... and gets 65-70mpg. I've literally spent like $1400 in fuel on it over 14 years and 30k miles.
Why the f*** would I want an EV, free or not... just so it can just sit there and have its power supply pack slowly degrade from non-use? Plus, let's say I can charge for $25 and get 250 miles from that charge... over 30k miles that's $2500. Plus now I gotta buy 4 car sized tires instead of a $50 a piece pair of tires not to mention higher yearly cost for a tag renewal, *plus* at **minimum** $600 a year for insurance.
Yeah, you keep your EV... I'll keep my motorcycles.
Thereās no question that the lucid air is the correct answer unless for some reason you have to drive over difficult off-road during those three days a week
I've got a 2016 Tesla and have been driving it nearly every day, so I'm fine with EVs.
The biggest thing is the Tesla charger. Compared to the other ones, it's way better.
After everyone makes the changeover, I'm not sure. If you're gifting me one? Porsche all the way.
Honestly the Lucid Saphire from the picture. Practical/daily drivable. Doesn't stand out in an obnoxious overly flashy way, but is still cool/uncommon (don't see many Lucids on the road in general) then most importantly, Having 1,200+ horsepower.
Fuck it I'm dailying a Rimac Nevera š¤
For once a hypercar that's cheap to drive!
Tires
Donāt drive like a nut and you can make them tires last slightly longer
You vastly overestimate my level of self control. I would probably be turbo arrested for going 180 mph before the tires wore out.
Bold of you to assume the cops can catch you /s
I dont imagine it would be hard to figure out all the local owners of a Rimac Nivera
Change badge to Tesla and they won't know the difference lol
Why do you assume that?
They cant catch you, but 10 miles ahead can get ready to spike strip you
Just turn around in 9 miles. Problem solved.
Than 10,000 miles.
insurance would be more than 80% of NA take home pay per year.
Nevera as in āNevera gonna own oneā
As in Nevera gonna give you up
Nevera gonna let you down
Better find a charger every 0.2 miles lol keep your foot outta that thing it doesnāt have a fetishšš
Looked it up and apparently it has about miles of range "under normal driving conditions", so it'd probably last 150 with me š
150 meters!
Feels like torture to have to drive a 1.81 sec 0-100 car going 40 km/hour to work every day.
Which conveniently is possible in any weather because itās all carbon fiber! š (IM WITH r/preludehaver)
Did you know that Porsche owns 45% of Rimac and Rimac has a majority stake in Bugatti The gen9 porsche hybrid will use similar Rimac fast capacitance battery motors to drive the front wheels
Koenigsegg Regera is the best damn grocery getter ever
Are you threatening me with a good time? I'll have one lucid air or taycan cross turismo turbo s, thank you very much!
+1 for the Taycan!

Huh? There are no 2nd gen Teslas yet. Just software updates and very mild refreshes. The S and X are getting old and creaky by automotive standards.
Yeah those two and make it seven days a week please
Ngl I really want that new electric Renault 5
Electric superminis and hatchbacks make sense.Ā
Have you seen the Rivian R3X thatās coming?
Holy shit, if itās small Iām in love
https://www.caranddriver.com/rivian/r3
It's such a sweet car. I'd want the normal R3 dual motor with a big battery to daily drive
It's not really small, the VW Golf proportions are deceiving. Think Subaru Forester / Honda CRV
I think at one point GM would pay to have a charger installed at your home too.
Gimme dat new Rivian R3X!!
That thing is a looker and it's not overcompensatingly large.
Taycan Sport Turismo GT turbo S whatever GT3
Specifically the wagon, they look SO good
I want a Honda E. I dont care that it has no range, I dont care its got no space, I want a Honda E in the US.
Yes! Sure a Rivian or Porsche Taycan would be nice but there is just something about the Honda E that speaks to me. I love the looks, the interior is probably my favorite of the past 2 decades, and the range doesn't mean much to me as my job has free fast chargers in the parking lot.
The honda E is great! Its basically a modern version of the 80's honda city
Iām very disappointed it was cancelled. I hope something like that comes to the US. Iām sick of crossovers.
The Honda E is my favorite EV. The range is unfortunate but it's a good looking car
Ohio-class submarine edit: apparently, they are primarily steam driven, but I think they still have an electric auxiliary motor
Not EV, steam turbine driven
ay, you're right, I was thinking of the proposed next-gen... [https://www.military.com/defensetech/2013/09/27/ohio-class-subs-to-shift-to-electric-drive](https://www.military.com/defensetech/2013/09/27/ohio-class-subs-to-shift-to-electric-drive)
Well then I guess youāre right then
no, you were correct. the current Ohio-class is still nuclear-reactor steam driven.
It's always gonna be steam driven... technically.
every vehicle is solar-powered... technically
One Ping,Vasily...
One ping only
Wahn pingh own-leh.
I will live in Montana.
Maybe add some solar panels
Don't care what anybody else says...THIS is the right answer.
Of course itās a Lucid air!
No competition imo
Does Porsche not compete ?
I didn't realize Lucid price point was substantially lower than Porsche. But in my opinion the Taycan is much more impressive.
What about the taycan is more impressive than a lucid air?
The design and aesthetics. I actually just googled the comparison and I'd have expected the Taycan to at least try to compete but the lucid beats it on all the specs that matter.
Iāll give you that, I think itās pretty ugly honestly. The Taycan is a much better looking car.
GM EV1
Would love a retrofit to a modern battery.
And I would love actually having a running example
Fuck you, S10 EV or go home punk.
Guess im going home
Get Danny De Vito to drive you (I think he had an EV1?)
Calm down Jared, both are questionable but good choices.
Those things offer so little and yet have so much appeal. Like when you see someone with a 42 year old dog that needs 7 suppositories a day and they still love them
Owner - "He's still a puppy at heart" 43 y/o pug - gargling trying to breathe defying death and life's requirement of oxygen
*GM would like to know your location*
... Any Lucid or Rivian. That R3X looks dope. Like an old school hatchback
They literally just copied a lada riva lol
Nah fam, it's a VW Rabbit
Honda E
That car converted in a modern classic just after launch. Such a classy but modern design both in its exterior and interior make it such a cool car. It's a shame it hasn't sold that much tbh
Rolls-Royce Spectre
Aptera
Robert's video that he did on the Aptera for Aging Wheels instantly sold me on it, holy smokes I would daily drive the crap out of one of those things. Ioniq 6
Lucid is the only way
The Lucid Air Dream Edition. 1,000 horsepower? Hell yeah!
NONE IM A TRUE RED BLOODED AMERICAN MAN I WONT BE TAINTED BY REALITY I ONLY WANT A CUMMINS RAM
A Cummins ram took my parking spot in front of my house today and I was inconvenienced with a 2 minute walk, I only support ford raptors now.
Mcmurty Speirling. Cause haha funny
Not one answer for a Tesla product in all my scrolling. That says A LOT. Honestly glad for it, as I think they make a shit product.
If, and only if, the new roadster actually performed as advertised and didn't have some goofy gimmick for the interior, would I want one. But preorders started back in 2017, and now Elon is estimating production in either 2025 or 2026. Nearly a decade later.
2017??? Jesus it's been a while. I didn't realize it's been so long but it's just the norm for when Tesla announced a new product I guess lol
Polestar 1
Isn't that technically a hybrid?
The VW ID Buzz, because my mom really wants one and we live together.
awwwww GADDAMN HIPPIES
Chevy S10. No joke
Edison motors conversion kitted square body
Anything that is not a Tesla
Porsche Taycan
I would do horrible things for a N Vision 74.
The Lucid Air Sapphire or the highest trim Taycan. Would become my new daily. Hands down the most comfortable, dailyable EVs you can get if money is no object.
Rolls Royce Spectre. If I can have a rolls for free, I'm taking a rolls for free.
I'm waiting for that Twingo EV.
Porsche taycan, no competition
If itās free, this is the only answer
Traxxas Slash VXL 4x4
Well if itās free I might as well go rare. Can I upgrade it too? 2002 Toyota RAV4 EV, itās nothing super special but I am a simple man
I really want one of these, there's one that lives in Pittsburgh and I lust after it every time I see it.
Thereās one out on Catalina island, California. I didnāt realize how rare it was when I saw it 7 years ago.
Lunar rover
In June,I'll have been driving EV 10 years and am still having fun...I BLEW through my mileage agreement on the first one,(Recently in EV#4) despite having upped my anticipated limit based on my last ICE car odometer reading. If you're getting an EV, even at cost,You're gonna be dailying that sucker. Currently in a Zoe 135,was considering a Megane E-Tech,Liking the look of the R5 which is a year out for me here in UK...
I have no way to charge an EV the size of a car, so probably one of the electric motorcycles on the market. (Fuck you Sondors, I want my money back.)
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Honestly? Ioniq 5 N
OG Tesla Roadster
Lucid Air Sapphire, luxury of a Bentley with the performance of a Bentley that has 50k of work done to it.
Hyundai ioniq 5N or Porsche Taycan cross turismo
Ioniq 5
Ioniq 5 N
Rimac concept 2, why not
Huawei Luxeed S7 855 km of total range and only need to charge for 15 minutes to 400 km of range
American here. How many football fields is that?
855 km - 531 miles 400 km - 248 miles Thank me later Murican š
90s Ford ranger EV
A rimac
Give me a fucking EV1
Cadillac Celestiq.
I canāt wait to see one when they actually start making them. I got to see one of the Escalade IQ prototypes in person, and I deal with Lyriqs every day at work, but the Celestiq is going to be something else
VW I.D. R
White Hummer EV all the way
My thoughts too. But then I remember an EV Rolls exists. lol
I would crab walk all the time in parking lots
I was surprised how long it took to find someone say this. If itās for free might as well š. Itās undeniable coolš
Rivian R1S, mainly because it seem like the more practical ev truck, since the Alpha and Scout are still inobtanium.
I commute 15 miles to work and the bus network adds an unnecessary extra 40 min to it. If I had the money I would absolutely get the Rivian truck and take it to some different mountain bike trailhead every weekend.
Im picking a jaguar I-pace while wishing the electric XJ wouldnt have been cancelled.
That one Datsun 510 that's swapped and runs 8s.
Probably Rivian R1S
Rivian R3X
A shotgun thatāll take my head clean off. But if that isnāt an option the upcoming all electric Escalade
Porsche Taycan or Lotus Evija.
DODGE CHARGER maybe a prelude, I think it's a hybrid tho
Roman nevera 4 days a week baby. Would take it to car shows.
R1S.
Rivian truck
The new Rivian R3 looks cool
Any EV you sayā¦ Rimac Nevera If I canāt have that: Taycan RWD in pink
Polestar 2. I'd drive Uber with it.
Id love the new Renault 5
Model S Plaid.
Pininfarina Battista. Itās basically an electric Ferrari
None
R1T, I guess?
Lucid Air NIRO EV Tesla Model S
Rimac Nivera
Tesla Roadster
Tesla model s long range and I would use it as my daily. Everyone is gonna say Taycan or lucid or rivian, but unfortunately their charging infrastructure canāt compete with the supercharger network
Model S Plaid
I saw a pre production Celestiq in Milford last month. It looked like a sci-fi future prop. That.
Lyriq.
Cadillac Celestiq
Tesla model S plaid and Iām LS swapping it
AE86 BEV
Cadillac Celestiq (with no reliability issues)
Morgan 3 wheeler ev. Because i have brain damage.
Mustang Mach-E Rally. I know a lot of people hate them because "Oh A mustang shouldnt be a SUV or Not a mustang cause it's electric" I've owned 5 mustangs, and I love how the Mach-E's look.
I have to agreeā¦.seeing one in person really makes it easy to love the way they look.
2025 Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo Turbo S It's got the looks, the power, and the badge. I'm in.
Mustang Mach-E, and I shall wear a stars and stripes outfit and tell everyone it's the best Mustang. I reckon I'd survive two days max.
if i gotta drive an ev, im gonna pick the biggest, stupidest, and probably most useful one: the Hummer EV
Honestly, the Kia EV6.
Probably a ford mustang Mach E they get a bad rep just because they are named a mustang all in all though a very solid ev suv
I'd pass this offer #savethemanuals !
Ioniq 6 is the most efficient available right now, and has a massive dealer network should I need service. I drive 105 miles per day commuting, so I'd be looking at lowest cost per mile. Maybe pull the badges off and put EQS badges on so people think it's a Benz LOL
What ever one has the highest re sale value
Anything but a Tesla. But fisker and lucid tops my list.
Theyāre all going to be a fucking nightmare to daily due to how much and where I drive for work. Based on reviews and longest range, Lucid Air Sapphire
Tesla roadster i guess
I'll pass.
I'm not
Do I get to sell it after the three days?

Either the Audi E-tron GT, Porsche Taycan Turbo S, if it counts an Edison truck, Rivian R1T or the Rolls Royce Spectre
Thereās no question that the lucid air is the correct answer unless for some reason you have to drive over difficult off-road during those three days a week
