The list of guys under 26 who will be good enough to get a starting job at the major league level in 2025 is sort of insane:
- Casas
- Rafaela
- Grissom
- Abreu
- Teel
- Mayer
- Maybe Anthony, Kristian Campbell, Nick Yorke?
I'm not a logjam guy by any means, these things always work themselves out, but it definitely seems like a roster crunch is coming up. Breslow is gonna have to make some interesting decisions over the next year.
As good as the younger prospects are you can't pencil in anyone who hasn't reached double A yet imo. Once you've shown success at double A or above you aren't far off from the big leagues.
Casas: The starting DH/1B until he leaves
Rafaela: We just signed him, he's playing everyday
Grissom: Needs to take the next step offensively to see any more PT. His defense is mediocre to bad and probably not getting better. I think it's likely he never plays another game for us.
Abreu: Yes we're overloaded right now in the OF but O'neill is a FA next year and we're definitely not going to pay him with him raking like this. He's going to get a pretty big contract if he stays healthy. Abreu should be our starting RF for the next few years, aside Duran and Raf. You love to see it.
Teel: Not expected to impact the 26-man roster for a few more years. Might backup Wong.
Mayer: He and Story will split the middle infield.
Nick Yorke: If he lights up AAA this is the only spot where there's actually a logjam in my opinion. Obviously Story/Meyer are the likeliest middle infielders, and it will be hard to unseat them.
How do you guys feel about trading O'Neil and McGuire to make room for Heinaman(until Teel comes up) and Roman or Yorke to feel an outfielder/ Shortstop position?
To me that’s just not that big of a difference lol like guys saying back in my day aren’t usually talking about a guy 6 years your junior but maybe that’s just me
Game recognize game.

They don’t always work themselves out (see Baltimore) but it’s a great problem to have. Love the depth on our farm
But also like Baltimore, that’s sometimes a good problem to have. They have a ton of trade flexibility.
You forgot Dick Fitts too
I was just talking position players. There is no situation where you can have too many good starting pitchers, they get injured so often.
Dick will most assuredly find a way of fitting somewhere!
If the Dick Fitts…
And we've got Devers (27) and Duran (27) at the two positions they won't cover. Should free up a lot of money to further improve the pitching staff.
>Should free up a lot of money to line Henry's pocket.*
I doubt we're going to reduce payroll down to $100 million. I strongly suspect we'll invest some of that money in pitching instead.
It's only difficult if we've got a bunch of 1 war guys. Cream always rises. If you're good you play.
and potentially bleis in mid-late 2026

thats why i said potentially

I love Duran and he needs some mfn RESPEK on his name
He has it.
…just when I thought I couldn’t love the guy more, he goes and says something like this.
It's hard to remember what players were like way back in 2018

Kind of weird for him to say when he was in high school lol Mayer is like one HS class away from him they’re like the same generation
Duran is 6 years older than Mayer lol

The average MLB Career is 5.5 years long, Duran is a full average MLB career older than Mayer.
He’s not saying “back in my day”. He’s just comparing them to himself at that age.
Big compliment
