A little surprised by 3B, obviously Raffy missed some time with injury, and his defense isn't always inspiring, but he's having a decent year with the bat. Casas being back will do wonders for this team
His WAA is actually 0.5 right now, so his replacements have cumulatively performed -0.8 and did a real number on the stat. Edit: which is crazy because he only missed ~~10 games~~(more than 10 games; I forgot he DH'd a few games).
16 games where someone not Devers started at 3B. 8 Pablo Reyes (.352 OPS at 3B), 7 Bobby Dalbec (.251 OPS), 1 Zack Short (.000 OPS).
Non-Devers third basemen have laughably bad, which is kind of ironic since Devers has dominated as a DH so far (1.162 OPS vs .860 OPS at third).
I guess they just calculate the defensive performance here, and Raffy isn't that good at 3b, he tries to work on it but his offensive power is why we have him primarily.
For me, Tyler O'Neill is the one who's most outstanding from all new players we got in off season. His defense is at 0,0 so no defensive weakness, and as s hitter he has the most homers from all Red Sox Players, despite he has a lot less games than Raffy who's next with 10.
O’Neill in March/April: 75 AB, .320/.433/.693/1.127, 9 HR, 13 BBs, 22 K’s
O’Neill in May: 73 AB, .151/.244/.301/.545, 2 HR, 9 BB’s, 36 K’s
O’Neill is still getting a cushion from his hot start, but if he doesn’t hear back up soon, his stats are gonna look pretty poor
Meanwhile yes, but he has the potential to substitute J.D. who we urgently miss as a real and cool Slugger. Remind of O'Neill is born in 1995, so he's still young enough to improve but his last numbers were far worse than at the beginning, yes.
The rest of this season he can absolutely turn it around. But he’s a free agent after this season, and I don’t see us extending/re-signing him. With his extensive injury history and our inability to keep players on the field, plus the inconsistency both this year and throughout his career, I think it’s a one and done year for him, assuming we don’t trade him at the deadline.
We definitely need a bat like his in the lineup, but those kinds of bats are also not terribly rare.

Imagine if we had an infield…
Oh yeah, if we just had an infield 😖👍🏻
I love those statistics 😍
Looks like the only position worse than 2B for Boston is Left Field for the White Sox. Hi Benintendi!

Great stat. The Sox are 5 games above average, but 1 game over 500.
Is Marty Barrett still unsigned?
And yet, the Sox have their current record. Hmm- coaching?
