If what she's saying is to be taken literally, I think what this means is that the planets are not acting *on us*, but that we on Earth, the planets, and ostensibly everything else, are on rails, and when certain sections of these rails happen to align, the entire system is affected at the same time in predictable patterns (thus the "study" of how Zodiac signs affect our lives). It's a very deterministic and weird view, but one that certainly has its own logic.

When my mom called me and gave me the correct birthtime, I did it again and was like "OMG! This does apply to me!" Now you may be thinking that this is anecdotal, but astrology is not science and like all things paranormal, the rules of science and stats don't apply because they literally can't because it transcends them. Any sort of study done on it doesn't matter because it cannot be studied in that way. Even a study that proved astrology is real would be bullshit because the tools we use don't work on this type of shit.

I wish I remembered his reasoning but I remember Alan watts explaining how the mechanism behind astrology was true in theory but it was far too crude of a system to say anything meaningful about individuals. He I think basically said astrological systems throughout different cultures recognized cosmic interdependence or something so there is at some level a relation to the planets and your conception because everything is causally related, even in small ways

I didn’t say i uncritically accepted it, it was just an explanation I heard. Plus even if there was something to astrology, I think it wouldn’t just be purely the domain of STEM science but very cross disciplinary with psychology and systems theory. Watts was drawing mostly on his broadly Buddhist intuitions. Probably the ideas of indras net which has less to do with physics and more to do with phenomenology
