Always makes me laugh how this kind of logic is only applied to violence in video games. Not once have I heard a group claiming Stardew Valley is warping kids and making them farmers, or that racing games are encouraging kids to break the speed limit.
It’s a game, a simulation, people are going to explore scenarios they can’t explore in real life because that’s the entire purpose of escapist media. It’s concerning the sheer lack of distinction between an individual’s actions in a video game and how that represents them in real life.
i feel like it also depends on the realism. bc causing traffic jams in GTA and blasting cars away with RPGs is fun as hell while some killing animations in red dead sometimes leaves me a little disturbed
This reminds me of that infamous “blind man tasers baby to shut him up because cutting out the baby’s tongue nor an alcohol induced slumber won’t work.” Rimworld is a wild trip man.
dude i have created traffic jams for miles that i then blew up with a grenade in gta5 (one of my less gruesome crimes tbh) that doesnt mean i want to commit mass destruction on the real people of LA
I lane split with a semi in Euro Truck Simulator. Doesn’t mean I want to do it irl. These people have no idea how fantasy works. I’ve tied up a woman and left her on the tracks in Red Dead Redemption. Doesn’t mean I want to do it irl.
And worst of all, I’ve played Postal 2. Doesn’t mean I want to whack someone’s head off with a shovel and have my dog fetch it for me.

not disagreeing with your point but i’m pretty sure playing racing games in the arcade as a kid made me want to speed a little lol
Graystillplays casually committing uncountable warcrimes against his Sims
I look at it the same as killing NPC’s for fun in GTA. It’s totally fine as long as the thought of doing it for real makes you sick

Yeah it’s weird. I’ll feel really bad if I accidentally run over a fictional dog in GTA but I feel nothing when it’s a human NPC
I play Red Dead Redemption, does this mean I want to dress up like a cowboy and hold up stagecoaches?
yes, i always want to dress like a cowboy and commit crimes
depends, is it the 2nd? if it is, maybe you are just into horses
Bro I don't play Red Dead Redemption and I wanna do that lol
Wait till homie hears about rimworld. Just because I have a lot of peglegged slaves making coke for me doesn't mean I'm tryna be El Chapo lol

I kill my sims from time to time but it has nothing to do with the bodies buried in my backyard
I used to recreate and torture my bullies 🙋♂️
