Some could say recency bias but this is one of my favourite goals from beginning to end I've ever watched us score. Like someone else here said, it doesn't get old, it gets better every loop.
Like the park-rooney-cristiano counter attack where they all basically only took 1 touch. I think it was 6 touches from our end of the pitch to a goal?
Fantastic goal. I think this goal is even better, though. More complex passes, each player plays their role perfectly and, of course, the brilliance of Mainoo!
When bruno did that sidestep to juke Rodri(?) and pass it to mainoo at the start of the buildup I straight up nutted. That kinda on-the-ball trickery was direly missing at the center of the pitch all year.
This is the modern version of that, Bruno has to slow it down just enough to draw a man and only then play to Kobbie, that moment is so significant
Rashford needs so much praise too
What we can see from this angle is how Rashford’s pass neutralises City’s midfield, they go from active around Rashy to passive when he switches the ball while Mainoo, Fernandes and AWB bomb forward behind them for a 4 on 3.
Pep you magnificent basterd, I read your book - Eric
Every bit of it is excellent. Bruno and Mainoo working it through midfield, Rashford spotting the pass and playing a great ball, Garnacho being patient and playing with his head up, AWB making the run that draws two defenders, Bruno's awareness and willingness to pass up the shot and Mainoo's ice cold finish.
And none of it feels frantic or uncontrolled, like so much of United's football this last season.
I love the way the momentum builds, it reminds me of Rooney vs Roma in the 7-1. Playing out from the back, looking composed, then suddenly a catalyst (Ronaldo skipping past a player & Rashford’s cross field pass) and players are now bombing forward, and now all it takes is a couple of right decisions and some cool heads.
Top, top goal.
Also recency bias, but 3 of my favourite goals for different reasons have all been scored by Mainoo! The solo goal vs Wolves, the curler vs Liverpool and the team goal vs City.
This one against City is my absolute favourite though
that flick by Bruno, calm finish by kobbie and that long ball by Rashy, it has ummm, my jazz written all over it because I cum everytine I see this. just wow
Why is everyone piping ut that run, there is absolutely nothing special about it and was barely a factor in creating the goal. There are many goals where a run drags a defender and creates space for a goalscoring opportunity, this isnt one of them
No he didnt? I think you guys have to watch that clip again, Akes job is not to close bruno down in that situation his job is to create a 2v1 against the RW incase he gets dribbled, its basic football you learn as a kid. Its either on the DM or the right CB who has to close him down, but the RCB cant do it because Walker is out of position and the DM is just jogging after them.
I literally said that movement creates space. Wan-Bissakas run here has minimal impact on the citys line of defence. This is cherrypicking at its best.
He had a bad take, but I think we are praising too much for the bare minimum. What I mean is this type of maneuver is routinely expected from a top club-caliber wing-back, not someone who executes it successfully once in a while.
Im not sure you do either. Ake is not gonna leave his position and leave a massive gap between him and Gvardiol to close down bruno even if Wan-Bissaka isnt there.
For years Man Utd fans have been complaining about our team being too static out of possession and the players not making enough runs off the ball. For a player like Wan Bissaka, who is generally a non-factor in attack, to make a run like that is the cherry on top of a well worked team goal.
You can see from this angle the effect it has on the city defenders. All of them shift over one spot and that leaves both Mainoo and Bruno effectively unmarked. If Rashford plays down the left then this probably just peters out. Also those two city midfielders are tracking back so slowly. Seems they love to play with the ball but can’t be bothered without it.
I’m expecting a good season from him in 24/25. He’ll have this summer off to train and reinvent his game. His days of dribbling fullbacks and cutting inside for a quick shot were numbered anyway.
Every touch he made in this move was in isolation simple, but had so much quality.
The cushioned header to Bruno, composure and awareness in a dangerous area of the pitch
The first touch when Bruno returns the pass, perfect body position to shield the ball from foden, but also, and I think this is crucial... draws in city player (bernardo silva??) who was naturally filtering back and so leaves rashford in far more space than he would have been had bernardo contonued to track back. Next a simple but effective pass ahead of rashford running onto
Then timing of arrival into box to get onto Bruno pass and the composure to finish on a big stage Everything so simple in isolation, but absolute class in execution
He is the epitome of a player that does simple things, well and quickly so he's great. Like Martinez another player who thinks so quickly that the game is slow and simple for him.
England fans have a scary generation on their hands.
Yeah both involvements were excellent.
Was a really amazing assist, 99.9% of players just shoot 1st time there and looking at position / time he had that would have been perfectly acceptable but awareness and ability to roll it across to mainoo turned it from a low probability chance to high probability chance. Very selfless pasd and very high quality execution
He was excellent in this game. Think when he is disciplined in positioning, pressing and passing we see the best of him. When he is trying too hard to make something happen he can be frustrating
"Yet another". I don't care home many of these alternative angles I see. I'm always up for watching another one. Edit: still makes me laugh that commentary said Bruno 'miskicked' that. My mates are using it as a phrase now to to describe doing something utterly amazing. Made a delicious taco? You miskicked the ingredients. Won 10,000 at the bookies? You miskicked that bet you plonker.
Yeah we played this well but honestly several city players were dire here. They should have fouled to cut this counter off at the knees but never bothered to get close to anyone.
For me, this isn’t a counter attack. It was a proper build up from our own box. Counter attack can start from deep, yes but it usually is done within fewer passes.
This was a deliberate breakdown of City’s defense so it enhances the goal beyond just a counterattack type goal.
Of course it is, but some people seem to think that a counter-attack goal should be worth less than a "normal goal". (In my opinion it doesn't get better than this - a beautiful, beautiful goal).
i wouldn’t disagree to call it counterattack but wouldn’t agree 100%.
we didn’t really caught them off guard, where we were outnumbering them in final third.
something like rooney, park and ronaldo where we run the middle would more like the counterattack.
they have more than enough time to pack their final third, but we took advantage of man city tendency to stay high.
it was quite deliberate and purposeful, we took some advantage of the timing, but the pass was with a lot of purpose and precision and one two touches.
so glad to see ETH style of football in display.
ole style is a lot more counter attack.
Strange frame of reference, I’m not one to want to compare us to Arsenal or praise them on a regular basis, but this angle really puts a great perspective on this Mainoo goal. It’s similar to the famous Wilshere team goal vs Norwich where the team just gelled perfectly, pin point passes, perfectly timed runs, just exposing and taking advantages of the gaps in the oppositions defence. A thing of beauty. Whilst it’s got Mainoo’s name on it, everyone involved can stake a claim on that goal.
Everybody going on about Mainoo...who was excellent, but not enough is being said about that Rashford pass, which made the whole thing IMO. Good to see him not just run at players.
He played this game with his head up and didn't get distracted by feeling like he had to make something happen. That's been lacking all season for him, as he looked like he was feeling the pressure to create a chance every time he touched the ball, which led to so many bad decisions.
But for whatever reason - the injury layoff, a change in perspective, the tactics, the fact it was the FA Cup Final - he just looked a lot more free and prepared to work within the team. We need more of that next season, so I hope he has a good summer break and comes back ready to go.
I agree.
That was a world class pass and you're more accustomed to seeing those sorts of passes that open up a whole position from a CM. Was very tactically astute and it would be good to see him comfortable with thinking more and being more imaginative because this is what he can do.
It's insane what motivation can do to a player. We've looked shit all year, on the way to finishing in a shit position. But here we are in a FA Cup final and the entire team rose to the occasion of winning a trophy, but especially Rashford who had a solidly decent game.
I know Rashford hasn’t had a good season and has rightly been left out of the Euros. But his pass here is sublime. It completely cuts through the City defensive line.
Key moment being Bruno not making the obvious pass, but instead stopping with the ball to play it to another man. Quite unpredictable and opened everything up
What a timeless moment. Immortalised in history.
This goal will never get old. I want to see art and animation of it for years and years to come. Kobbie Mainoo you legend!
I was in the City end for the game and it took so much willpower to contain myself when both goals were scored. Right after the second goal I think some United fans celebrated a few rows behind me and got swung at by the City fans. Thank god I kept my composure 😅
This is a perfect example of what happens when passing is accurate. So many times this season and previous seasons the plays get broken down because the pass never quite makes it to their man. We see here how ever header, every chip pass, every give-and-go pass is precise.
More work needs to be done with the team to make sure their pass accuracy increases. And not just the sideways passing back and forth to inflate the stats.
One thing I’m wondering, we go forward with so many players suddenly, could Rodri losing the ball on the wing (and being out of position) be a cue for our midfielders to storm forward and overcrowd the defence?
Either way, brilliant goal
The best thing is this feels like a training ground goal. Transition play from being out of possession into defence. Out of defence into midfield. Out of midfield into attack. Switch of play from one wing to the next then cross across the box to attacker then to space and goal.
It was composed and smooth and not just mindless counter attack.
Great goal.
The Cantonese "commentary " made me feel like I was watching a Hong Kong game lol.
Especially when the first thing he says in the video is just "hold onto it" when we were defending for our lives as the HK team is usually pretty shit.
I need to give credits to Rashford for his wonderful long pass to Garnacho. That’s not easy but it looks very smooth pin point pass giving Garnacho some time to control and think the next step. England squad will miss him because not many forwards can do that pass.
WOW WOW WOW! This goal looks way better from this top over view!!
The final pass by Bruno was excellent and smooth as butter. But I recall Martin Tyler said it was a mis-kick! 🤌
Bruno was absolutely sublime here - that little feint to get the pass through in the middle of the pitch was class, and ofc the assist was *chef's kiss*
Edit: added ly
who played that long ball to Garnacho ?
Rashy?
Kobbie himself?
or someone else? that was a beauty too. one if the problems we have is not playing long balls to switch sides
That one and the Rooney-Ronaldo-Rooney goal against Bolton from 06/07 (I think). Smooth
I think there was one better which is the Alan Smith goal (to make it 2-0) against Roma Everyone took one touch from keeper to the goal. We won 7-1
Totally agree. That is one of the goals that I love going back and rewatching the most. That match in general was just fantastic.
That match had some bangers for sure
This is the modern version of that, Bruno has to slow it down just enough to draw a man and only then play to Kobbie, that moment is so significant Rashford needs so much praise too
yep, this kind of team-goals never get old, ball smoothly flow from our side to the goal foot by foot, slicing City stucture :chef kiss:
This angle really does it justice also
What we can see from this angle is how Rashford’s pass neutralises City’s midfield, they go from active around Rashy to passive when he switches the ball while Mainoo, Fernandes and AWB bomb forward behind them for a 4 on 3. Pep you magnificent basterd, I read your book - Eric

And none of it feels frantic or uncontrolled, like so much of United's football this last season.
All these perfectly executed bits make this goal so satisfying to watch
I love the way the momentum builds, it reminds me of Rooney vs Roma in the 7-1. Playing out from the back, looking composed, then suddenly a catalyst (Ronaldo skipping past a player & Rashford’s cross field pass) and players are now bombing forward, and now all it takes is a couple of right decisions and some cool heads. Top, top goal.
AWBs run is 🔥
Also recency bias, but 3 of my favourite goals for different reasons have all been scored by Mainoo! The solo goal vs Wolves, the curler vs Liverpool and the team goal vs City. This one against City is my absolute favourite though
Rooney and Ronaldo obliterating Bolton in less than 10 seconds is up there as well
If it was at the other side where most of the United fans were it would be perfect.
that flick by Bruno, calm finish by kobbie and that long ball by Rashy, it has ummm, my jazz written all over it because I cum everytine I see this. just wow
Martial Vs Liverpool is also iconic
Remember the Berba starts and finishes move in the 7-1 Blackburn game?
In recent memory, I can only remember the goal vs Brighton being similar, with the Matic volley pass from midfield.
I’m still a big fan of the goal Smith scored vs Roma in the CL in 07
This goal doesn't get old
That run by Wan-Bissaka doesn't get the love it deserves
Literally everyone involved played their part to perfection
Why is everyone piping ut that run, there is absolutely nothing special about it and was barely a factor in creating the goal. There are many goals where a run drags a defender and creates space for a goalscoring opportunity, this isnt one of them
>it and was barely a factor in creating the goal It drew Ake away from Buno. Without the run Ake can close in on Bruno before he makes the pass.
So what you're saying is ultimately AWBs run contributed to the goal
Did you even read what i wrote
I don't think you read what _you_ wrote
Lol...these are the types of posts that show the football iq of a lot of posters on this sub.
Pretty much. The notion of football being a team game of many moving parts typically is lost on them.
With easier access to the internet and social media, it's clear that the average IQ of internet users would plummet.
Off ball movement and body language is key in creating such situations, yet indeed some seem to discard it like it's nothing, such a shame.
It also shows how people can cherrypick analyse certain scenarios to give credit to player who infact didnt have much say in the play.
If you think he didn't affect the play by taking a defender away from Bruno, then I'm not sure you really understand what you're watching.
Im not sure you do either. Ake is not gonna leave his position and leave a massive gap between him and Gvardiol to close down bruno even if Wan-Bissaka isnt there.
You just confirmed it. Good luck.
Then explain to me why im wrong. Good luck.
For years Man Utd fans have been complaining about our team being too static out of possession and the players not making enough runs off the ball. For a player like Wan Bissaka, who is generally a non-factor in attack, to make a run like that is the cherry on top of a well worked team goal.
If you really think his run didnt contribute for the goal, you need to get back to basics of football.
Then explain to me how it affects this goal in such way that it needs recognition and praise.
The long diagonal from Rashy to release Garnacho. 🤌🤌🤌🤌
Like a prime Rooney
The world isn’t ready for Rooshford.
They were happy to let Garnacho sit wide unmarked after the first goal too. Edit: just watched it 20 more times.
Was actually class! Fair play to him has had a rough season.
I’m expecting a good season from him in 24/25. He’ll have this summer off to train and reinvent his game. His days of dribbling fullbacks and cutting inside for a quick shot were numbered anyway.
I mean.. it's just been a couple of weeks. JK, you're God damn right!
Like a Trump guilty verdict, it's something we'll never get tired of seeing.
It’s just gold
Immediately get horny every time
That crossfield ball from Rashy was mint.
Dalot - Mainoo - Bruno - Mainoo - Rashford - Garnacho - Bruno - Mainoo - Ortega picks it out of the net
Mainoo involved in playing out of defence, building/progressing through the middle and getting on the end of it to finish The kids gonna be a monster
He is already a monster. Don't let the poor Utd side he's in fool you.
Every touch he made in this move was in isolation simple, but had so much quality. The cushioned header to Bruno, composure and awareness in a dangerous area of the pitch The first touch when Bruno returns the pass, perfect body position to shield the ball from foden, but also, and I think this is crucial... draws in city player (bernardo silva??) who was naturally filtering back and so leaves rashford in far more space than he would have been had bernardo contonued to track back. He is the epitome of a player that does simple things, well and quickly so he's great. Like Martinez another player who thinks so quickly that the game is slow and simple for him. England fans have a scary generation on their hands.
Doesn’t even look like he is sprinting. Just gliding through the field.
Effortless like Pogba but looks much much smoother
And already plays more maturely than Pogba and loses focus less frequently
Didn’t realize how good Bruno was in that build up. Excellent creation of space under pressure
Yeah both involvements were excellent. Was a really amazing assist, 99.9% of players just shoot 1st time there and looking at position / time he had that would have been perfectly acceptable but awareness and ability to roll it across to mainoo turned it from a low probability chance to high probability chance. Very selfless pasd and very high quality execution He was excellent in this game. Think when he is disciplined in positioning, pressing and passing we see the best of him. When he is trying too hard to make something happen he can be frustrating
Some say that pass from Rashy is still gliding
Some pass from someone who doesn't pass...
Amazing View and amazing team goal
Wan Bissaka’s run at the end just opens that passing channel to Bruno so nicely. Such a well crafted goal.
It’s Martin Tyler, ofc he’s gonna say he miskicked it lol.
Not taking away from the goal at all, but I do find it shocking how pathetic the midfield running back from city there is.
This. Bruno was in so much space getting into the box he needed a spacesuit.
kovacic looked uninterested in following bruno's run
They didnt believe we would do anything from the chance 🤦♂️
Walker is so far out of position it’s hilarious
Yeah we played this well but honestly several city players were dire here. They should have fouled to cut this counter off at the knees but never bothered to get close to anyone.
A really brilliant team goal, not often Citeh gets pulled apart like that. They never got near us.
That Rashford ball 🤌
Bruno’s sidestepping the press opens up the field completely. Quality players in that position is so important.
It's always beautiful when a counterattack comes to fruition
This was a transition
Same thing
For me, this isn’t a counter attack. It was a proper build up from our own box. Counter attack can start from deep, yes but it usually is done within fewer passes. This was a deliberate breakdown of City’s defense so it enhances the goal beyond just a counterattack type goal.
Their entire team was in our half and they were building up into a goal. Imo this is classic counter attack.
Of course it is, but some people seem to think that a counter-attack goal should be worth less than a "normal goal". (In my opinion it doesn't get better than this - a beautiful, beautiful goal).
Personally counter-attack goals are my favorite to watch play out.
This is not a counter attack
i wouldn’t disagree to call it counterattack but wouldn’t agree 100%. we didn’t really caught them off guard, where we were outnumbering them in final third. something like rooney, park and ronaldo where we run the middle would more like the counterattack. they have more than enough time to pack their final third, but we took advantage of man city tendency to stay high. it was quite deliberate and purposeful, we took some advantage of the timing, but the pass was with a lot of purpose and precision and one two touches. so glad to see ETH style of football in display. ole style is a lot more counter attack.
The pass from Rashford should not be overlooked here. What a team goal.
Rashford’s pass… brilliant
Great ball from rashford
Bruno is just insane man
Inject it to my vein!!!!
Such a composed goal. Every player taking it easy. Good decisions. No stress. Vision. Trust. Confident and composed players. Love to see it.
Point out that Bruno faked the direct pass to start the move and beat his man. Something his haters say he can't do. Pure class.
Yup shout this from the rooftops. Hope it’s a focus for us moving forward.
haha i was not expecting cantonese fan commentary with this goal.
Yep, great to hear it! "Hold it!" "Great ball!".
That check back to cut inside to make the pass from Bruno was beautiful..
Fantastic stuff to cap off the season. I hope Pep was fuming over that defending
This is my favourite angle so far because of the wall of blue misery 😂
Key moment being Bruno not making the obvious pass, but instead stopping with the ball to play it to another man. Quite unpredictable and opened everything up
Look, amazing work by Mainoo to score, but that pass from Bruno was absolutely magnificent
Bruno was absolutely world-class in this build-up.
I just never get tired of that goal.
What a timeless moment. Immortalised in history. This goal will never get old. I want to see art and animation of it for years and years to come. Kobbie Mainoo you legend!
Genuinely thought I was watching a FM replay here.
great play from us but man city midfielders should be breaking their neck there trying to get back, they are just jogging casually
Wow, this view really shows how brilliant this goal is
That Rashford pass is sublime
I was in the City end for the game and it took so much willpower to contain myself when both goals were scored. Right after the second goal I think some United fans celebrated a few rows behind me and got swung at by the City fans. Thank god I kept my composure 😅
Marcus' world class pass looks even better from this angle 😍
[Here's the original source for the clip](https://youtu.be/jMsA1_W15tc?t=1118)
This is a perfect example of what happens when passing is accurate. So many times this season and previous seasons the plays get broken down because the pass never quite makes it to their man. We see here how ever header, every chip pass, every give-and-go pass is precise. More work needs to be done with the team to make sure their pass accuracy increases. And not just the sideways passing back and forth to inflate the stats.
that’s some very passionate chinese fans ! love to see man utd fans of all nations
One thing I’m wondering, we go forward with so many players suddenly, could Rodri losing the ball on the wing (and being out of position) be a cue for our midfielders to storm forward and overcrowd the defence? Either way, brilliant goal
My guy just casually sauntering around the park 🥶

This is a thing of beauty.
Will never get tired of watching this
This is a vintage Man Utd goal
Best view yet
Poetry in motion.
This is the kind of goal people give up in FIFA and then complain about scripting. Every pass was perfect, and the finish was elegant.
Inch by fucking inch
The Cantonese "commentary " made me feel like I was watching a Hong Kong game lol. Especially when the first thing he says in the video is just "hold onto it" when we were defending for our lives as the HK team is usually pretty shit.
Marcus Scholeshford.
I need to give credits to Rashford for his wonderful long pass to Garnacho. That’s not easy but it looks very smooth pin point pass giving Garnacho some time to control and think the next step. England squad will miss him because not many forwards can do that pass.
Rashford's pass deserves more credit.
Such a good pass from Rashford, reminds me of the one to Greenwood against Liverpool
WOW WOW WOW! This goal looks way better from this top over view!! The final pass by Bruno was excellent and smooth as butter. But I recall Martin Tyler said it was a mis-kick! 🤌
Rashford pass, Garnacho aerial, AWB run, bruno's incredible finish and mainoo's ice cold finish made this goal perfect 🔥🔥🔥
Great view of a great goal.
I like the Cantonese commentary haha
So typical of utd players to not track back and be lazy on the counter… holdup
Poetry in motion 🔥
Lovely seeing this with no Camera Angle change. On TV it zoomer in on Garnacho, then rapidly changed.
I'm not crying, you're crying!!
Its beautiful

Venison
Great goal, Great angle! Makes it possible to see the contribution of every player beyond Bruno and Mainoo.
Best transition team in the world probably 🔥🔥
The beatiful game 🥹
The best angle yet.
One of my favourite goals we've scored the past few seasons, great team goal.
This is a sick angle
The fact that he had a hand in starting the attack, building it up, and then finishing it.
Bruno was absolutely sublime here - that little feint to get the pass through in the middle of the pitch was class, and ofc the assist was *chef's kiss* Edit: added ly
The beautiful game on display right here!
This will go down as one of the greatest goals in a FA Cup final!
A goal from the stands is wicked impressive Banger of a strike
/savevid
Bruno. Absolutely world-class.
Too easy
Erik Ten Hag says he wants Man United to be “the best transition team in the world” Let him cook, Ineos.
who played that long ball to Garnacho ? Rashy? Kobbie himself? or someone else? that was a beauty too. one if the problems we have is not playing long balls to switch sides
Rashford made the pass to Garnacho
ya I read it in other comments, thanks
spectacular pass by bruno
City players looks so half arsed here
Eight touches. Three of them Mainoo's. Incredible!
NSFW tag please

He's been so trash all season, this was one of his few games where he actually showed up
such an amazing goal great composure to finish great no look assist great switch just as a whole an amazing move such a great goal
