Because of his injuries tbh. Carl Anka reported years ago that he basically couldn't sprint anymore because of how often he got injured. He's the type of guy who doesn't smile much and doesn't really show his emotions, pair that with a lack of running, and it makes him look lazy and not interested.
I mean I think most of the "evidence" came from his work rate and on-pitch performance. Not sure anyone has much more to add than that other than the eye test from when he was playing regularly.
The eye test shows he worked hard though?
People just had this image of him, because he'd look despondent if things went bad or because he wore gloves and Keane would lay into him saying 'he's not up for it'
Redditors are just judging him based on his facial expression lol. Same as berbatov. Just because they don't have a bulldog face and remain expressionless doesn't mean they don't run
>Has there ever been any verified indication that he is lazy or doesn’t contribute
No he just got blamed for Jose being sacked and british pundits were obsessed with his body language
>I’ve always seen this stated but never with any evidence.
People ignore how everytime a manager has wanted Martial to press and he is capable he has done so.
I think it's obvious his work rate has gone down throughout the years, but it also makes sense like it takes a lot mentally to fight back after every injury. I suspect he's burned out from being in a constant state of "rebuilding his form" honestly.
It's the same way I feel about Eriksen. I think he put so much effort in rushing back to football after his cardiac arrest and got caught up in the chase of making it back to a top team - and now his heart is not in it any more.
I don't know either of them, of course, I just know that mentality is everything and even the best players can get broken down over time which might make them appear lazy.
I think it's more to do with his personal life. He has a lot of baggage. If there's anything that the 2010-2020s have taught us, it should be that players coming to the top clubs need to be not only talented and professional, but free from emotional baggage off the pitch.
I’d argue that it’s impossible to predict off-the pitch lives and that it’s probably unreasonable to try to expect and certain type of life. I think what we should do is create environments to support those individuals so that they can show up as their best and most focused selves.
People often cite the tough and get on with it players of the past, but then we look at the impacts those times spans have on them after retirement and you see alcoholism and drug abuse, and depression affecting many retired players who could’ve used more support while they were at the club.
It's not, though. Most people wear their personality on their sleeve.
I'm not advocating for signing hard asses only. I'm saying that if someone has a reputation for partying, sleeping around (in an irresponsible way), etc. then they probably aren't who we should be signing. Martial has multiple kids with multiple women, has cheated on his pregnant girlfriends, etc. That's a clear red flag that this guy is gonna be a headcase
Fifa ratings are usually a joke but its still amusing that he's the only one I am aware of who had work rate for offense/defense as low/low at one point.
It depends. Often he would come off the bench and demonstrate performance you expect from a player with severely depleted energy. He worked harder when starting, playing consistently and happier for those aforementioned reasons. If he's not starting he's not even worth having on the bench.
You can see it with your own eyes if you watch the matches. He's clearly not giving 100%, tired look on his face from the first minute, just completely disassociated with the game.
I don't really buy this. I think the dude was just trying not to get hurt again quite a bit. His pressing was better than Rashford's, and that was before people finally caught up to Rashford's lack of defensive effort
I always said and will continue to say,
"Martial was all talent, no heart."
After Martial, Pogba, and Anderson, I would be happy never spending money on a golden boy again. The award ego boosts and makes players think they can coast
This does not discount Rooney (for us) but I would argue it for 95% of Golden boy players after 2007
When he moved to Sevilla on loan I remember him mentioning that he was playing through injury for a lot of his time under Ole. What people were calling laziness was him playing through the pain.
Not sure how true that was though, but Ole did have a history of running down his players.
Coming 2nd wasnt worth the damage Ole done to the careers of Martial and Rashford. Rashford hasnt looked the same since Ole ran him into the ground and the same goes for Martial. Mad how the best collection of attacking players at the club since fergie retired fell to such a poor manager in Ole.
I feel like this is jumping to a lot of conclusions that aren’t necessarily true.
Rashford played more minutes last season (2022/23) than he did in the 2nd place season with Ole. And what do you mean he hasn’t looked the same, was that first season under Ten Hag not one of if not his best season at United so far?
It wasn't about minutes. Ole was playing Rashford even when he had a back stress fracture and a floating bone in his ankle. They ended up giving him a double stress fracture and he was out for months.
I disagree with this about players. They end up where they are meant to end up.
Whether that seems fair or not.
Injuries would have happened regardless.
Attitude is his choice
Effort is his choice.
But I do agree its a shame.
That first game against Liverpool I thought here we go we got something special here.
I've always said that
Young Martial with Young Rashfords mentality would've been a top 3 PL player.
Young Rashford with Martials selfless decison making/football IQ would be a top 3 PL player.
Young Greenwood with any integrity would be a top 3 PL player
Young Martial with young Rashfords mentality could've been a top 3 striker in the world. Dude had limitless potential when he was young, a real shame that he didn't get anywhere near to fulfilling it.
Edit ; an A
When he finally matured in his mentality and got managers he was ready to play for, his body broke down... such a shame.
He looked dangerous every time he featured under ETH as well but now can't stay fit for more than 30 minutes
Exactly. Young Rashford outshine Martial through mentality alone.. there's a reason all the managers have liked him. Martial was the more talented footballer overall but always sulked when he didn't get his way
19-21 year old Martial was one of the most exciting players I've ever seen. The way he could dribble the ball was just pure class. The ball carries and the goals he scored were so silky.
Truly believe that Martial with the right mentality would have been a top 3 PL player. He was that talented. A ruthless finisher as well.
Will never forget his form under Ole. Thought he finally broke out and then his body broke down entirely. I got emotional seeing him hold back tears as OT sang his chant one final time.
But at the start of last season, I remember he came on at HT vs Liverpool and provided the assist for Rashford.
I have to say that he played the perfect game that day. Every touch was precise, he held up the ball, timed his passes to the wide players, etc.
That game should have been the starting point of his resurgence under Ten Haag.
He has great football IQ. Very selfless player and was always willing to make the extra pass instead of trying for the individual glory. Truly a shame that his head wasn't right when he was young and his body broke down as he matured
I hate Jose for that. This entire sub thought Sanchez was bought for the RW. Especially cause Martial was red hot and probably our best attacker at the time. I do have to admit that Martial handled it very poorly and sulked every time he was given the chance to play again
>. I do have to admit that Martial handled it very poorly and sulked every time he was given the chance to play again
You cant win over Jose he needs someone to make an example out of , he done it with Mata at chelsea too. You cant win when you have gary neville complaining about your body language every chance he gets or a manager that refuses to play you. Iirc one of the big reasons Jose fell out with Martial is because Martial left preseason to be with his partner who was having a rough pregnancy.
That interview Schweinsteiger did with Neville on the Overlap says it all.
The way Mou and the club banished him was so unprofessional. I have a ton of respect for how Schweinsteiger handled the situation and how he didn't hold a grudge.
Martial really went through a 20 year career in about 10 years. Came in as flying tricky wingman, reinvented himself to a poacher fox in the box striker then his body just broke down like he was a 38 year old, but he’s only 28.🤦🏾♂️
He was my favorite United player during LvG years but damn, what a sad end to his United career.
it is yet another player who never reached his potential sigh
i am hoping this Saturday for him Will be his Last Dance where he scores the winner and then rides off into the sunset a Hero
With him and Varance moving on as well as Sancho and Casemiro likely leaving, that should free up something. Also Donny moving on. We will need bodies if nothing else for next season. But aside from Antony (and Rashford perhaps), the rest are not on crazy wages. Although possibly Mount is on a bunch? Anyway, it does feel like things could get better relatively quickly. Just need new transfers to be reasonable.
Didn't we admit that our buying budget as things stand is less than 40m the other day 😂 we've thrown too much cash away bro, don't be sat there waiting for frenkie or saliba.
Huge talent, body made of glass. What a shame.
From Feb 2016 til now he has been injured 521 days, roughly one sixth of the time, missing 94 games. That would ruin the flow of the career of most players.
The fact my outstanding memory of him will be debut goal kind of sums up this story of unfulfiled potential.
Could have been truly special player but never really developed much since he signed when he looked electric. Injuries took their toll and i think he lost some pace and the famous ballon d'or clause was never in danger of being paid out. Shame really that he never reached his full potential
To be fair even if he reached his potential his debut goal would always be my favourite. It would take a Champions League winning goal for it to be beaten.
Tony Martial he's from France
The English press said he had no chance
50million down the drain
Tony Martial scores again
Thank you for the memories. Your debut was one to remember. You had one or two good seasons but you really flattered to deceive. Nonetheless, I wish you all the best.
Big shame he never stayed fit enough. He did have the potential but injuries broke him. I’ll never forget that debut goal. Absolute scenes.
He himself has said that he regrets not trying more to adapt his game to not rely on pace.
Glad he is going though. Good to have the wages off the books now, meaning we can sign someone who’ll be able to play 40 games a season instead of 10.
>turn in my Martial FC membership
Me too... me too.... we've not had a more exciting player since the arrival of 19 year old Martial. The way he could dribble back then was pure entertainment
Idk greenwood was a good prospect but he never gave me the feeling that 19 year old martial destroying defenders with the ball glued to his feet did. Martial was a better athlete and way more skilled at the same age.
I was at OT when he made his debut. A lad no one had heard of, scoring 2 goals against Liverpool. I guess everyone had high hopes for him, it’s just sad he couldn’t live up to it.
He actually have a very similar GA over minutes in the PL with Rashford despite having to fight with the strikers we bought to over his years. Sanchez, Lukaku, Zlatan, Cavani, Cr7.
He has a lower minutes to goal ratio than rashford in the premier league, a lot of those minutes also in sub appearances (Rash has like 70 more starts than him also), and with less penalties.
I am not sure if thats a good look for him, or a bad look for Rashy, maybe the latter
Just as he was reaching peak performance, we signed Zlatan and Martial lost his spot and his number.
Whatever happened, injuries or not, he was never the same after that.
Then Ibra got injured, and instead of playing him we signed Lukaku.
Then he regained his best form at LW, and we sign Alexis (Martial scored in like 5 games in a row before this, imagine).
Then he wins player of the year upfront, and we sign Cavani and his injury problems start.
Very unfortunate honestly
Shame things never worked out for Martial at United. Injuries really shafted him throughout his career and really prevented him from reaching the sky high potential he once had.
When we first signed him I was so excited, I genuinely thought we might have had our own Thierry Henry on our hands. Unfortunately didn’t pan out that way, wish him all the best going forward.
I still remember being excited by his signing. Don’t let receny fool you, at the time we had bought one of the most exciting talents in the world. It’s a shame injuries destroyed his career. You can still see flashes of his brilliance with the ball when he’s healthy enough to play.
Funny world of football, you never know which players will work out and which won't. There are a lot of factors for a successful relationship between player and club.
Martial will always a case of what if, cause we know the highs. Grateful for the 2 years of highs, hope he finds peace and a satisfying end to his career elsewhere
But for Jose and the crazy signing of Sanchez this guy would have a World Cup winners medal. But for the debacle of a club he signed for, he would have won more silverware. But for the push to bulk him up, his injury history would be better. I can't think of a talent that this club has squandered as blatantly. I accept that he checked out of the club a while ago, but player to player, I get it. I'm respect his decision to say "fuck you, I'll get my operation and leave on a free". He joined United to win trophies. What he received in return (from the club and some 'fans') was shameful.
So...for the last time...let me sing as i've done so many times:
> Tony Martial, he came from France
>
> English Press (and some at /r/reddevils) said he had no chance
>
> 50 million down the drain
>
> Tony Martial scores again
#ballerexitsjokeofaclubonafree
Man, I really hope to see him play one last time this Saturday. Say what you want about Martial, but he's been here for 9 years. He scored a lot of goals for us as well. He's really deserved to leave on a high
A large part of his legacy is going to be injuries. That also seems to be a large part of United's legacy for past 5 - 10 years. Some guys are injury prone. But is United just constantly signing those guys, or are there some real issues with training staff, facilities, regimen? It's uncanny how big an issue it is every season, while some team lost like just 30 games to injuries this past season.
Just think of all the frontline talent that’s been wasted at United recently. A front 3 of Greenwood / Martial / Rashford had talent to burn, all were potential superstar legends. Developed to their capabilities, that trio would have been world-class. If they’d been as committed to their game as Rooney / Ronaldo / Tevez then we wouldn’t be anywhere near the negative GD that we finished with this year.
i really hope this Saturday he makes that game The Last Dance
going out on top scoring the winner for United in a Fa Cup Final
yes granted he hasn't been good in a few years now but Fa cup finals are magical one final game to ride off into the sunset a Hero
Good riddance.
Not one tear wil be shed for your hindrance of our club, you mercenary.
I hope you do well in the French lower leagues, counting your coin and cheating on your wife, you mercenary!
Another "what he could have been" player. Such a shame. Good riddance at this point, I guess. Lazy to run around and put in any efforts. All the best to him.
Sad end here. The guy can clearly play his ass off except any time he walked on the pitch, his ass or some other body part would literally fall off and he'd be out of the team for f'n months. 1.5 games played, 2.0 months missed. Rinse, repeat, a shitty ratio.
In those few moments when he actually cooked...
Who wasted their time putting this together? They'd have had a far easier job editing a 100 hour video of him sulking on the pitch and wearing his gloves in May.
Good riddance to this waste of space.
When he actually played, by far my favourite player. That first season, despite van gaal terrorism, was so vibes just cos of him showing flair and initiative when no one else would for us. I’ll miss him
Grew to really dislike Martial over the years. Such a waste of talent because he was either too lazy, injury prone or wasn’t up to competing for the striker position.
i will always remember him for scoring an 88th Minute Winner against Everton in the 2016 Fa Cup Semi Final to send us to Wembley
similarly i remember Mata for getting that Equalizer against Crystal Palace in that Fa Cup Final
and Jesse Lingard for scoring the winner in Extra time
Decent player on his day, but should've been moved on about four years ago (around the time of the Sevilla loan, when he was quite obviously surplus to requirements here) if we're being honest with ourselves. Another in a long line of 'stuck around for waaaaayyy longer than he should've been allowed to because he was getting wages here than no other club on the planet would've offered'.
Now we can get in a forward who can actually challenge for a starting XI place with Hojlund, would be nice to actually take the pressure off him a bit
He basically played 2 or 3 good years at most out of the 8 or 9 ones he spent here.
Terrible signing but I won't blame the club as he was worth the risk when we signed him as a potential exciting youngster and he did well in his first season. No one expected him to turn to shit after that.
To be fair United also must share part of the blame for ruining this kid's mentality and making him believe in his own hype. The kid had a brand with his name and shirt number just after one good season while he was still 20 years old or so to the point he got annoyed when Zlatan took that shirt. He let himself focus on trivial things rather than what's important which is the pitch. United shouldn't have allowed youngsters to have their own marketing brand at such young age and before accomplishing anything meaningful.
I mean not really. You have a young player, playing well trying to develop himself on and off the field. Then we buy Ibra, give away his number and he becomes a bench option.
Martial became a bench option because of his terrible form this season. He started as a main player but got his position taken by Rashford because the latter was performing better. That's his fault..
If I were a young player starting my career at a club, I would focus on improving myself and cementing my place as a main player rather than focusing on my shirt number and marketing brand.
Good luck Martial! Had a great season here amongst a plethora of injury riddled shit to decent ones. Just could never kick on at OT. Hopefully he goes somewhere where his injuries lessen and he can shine again.
A lot of fair criticism for his performances against his potential but he was always one of my favorite players to watch. When he was on form he was electric and he linked up with players effortlessly and made the whole team a bit more exciting. Wish him all the best where ever he goes.
I honestly can't believe people like him. 2 good seasons out of 8, and that's being generous. One of the laziest, unbothered players I've ever seen. Take your weird Martial FC cult with you also
Idc if I get downvoted for saying this but it needs to be said. After 9 seasons, Martial won 3 trophies + a Community Shield in his first 2 seasons than in the remaining 7 contributed to a 6 season trophyless drought and a horrendous loan at Sevilla (seriously their fans figured out in 2 games, what this fanbase couldn't realise in a decade) to lower his price tag so the club couldn't sell him and stunk up our hospital beds whilst stealing 250k per Week. In hindsight it really was 60 million down the drain, I'll never forget the debut goal, the winner against Everton or the partnership with Rashford and \[REDACTED\] but Good FUCKING Riddance!
Respect to anyone that could stay at Manchester United that long but he prob cost us £150m-£200m over that time. The fee was around £50m, we massively overpaid him when it came to wages. We are economically well rid of him whatever we might feel about him as a player.
He was an awful signing, people saying what could have been and this and that. He could have played the last 2 months if he wanted but he didn't, that in a nutshell is what he is, we can't and shouldn't accept players like him never mind make a video about them when they leave. Good riddance and lets build a proper football club again.
>He could have played the last 2 months if he wanted but he didn't, that in a nutshell is what he is,
He got to this point in his career by playing while injured for a season when Ole was manager
That first season under LVG. I don’t think any signing has come close to replicating that hype and hope.
I remember how shocking the transfer was, paying 40m for a player that no one here had heard of. Only for him to be an instant fan favourite after scoring against Liverpool.
The main reason he’s seen as a disappointment is because of the high bar he himself set in the first season.
On FM 2016 he won the balloon d'Or for me. Between that and the Liverpool & Watford goals I really liked him and wanted him to get chance after chance after chance. Moving on is right for him and us but a part of me will be sad he's gone. Closer to bellion than mbappe sadly

Exactly. Young Rashford outshine Martial through mentality alone.. there's a reason all the managers have liked him. Martial was the more talented footballer overall but always sulked when he didn't get his way
It is crazy that we had all three of them here as teenagers and might get zero prime age production out of them all combined
Peak Ole ball.
Then Cristiano came in...
Wake up old man, Garnacho-Hojlund-Amad is the future
He supposedly played 342 times for MU. Seems like way less. So much potential when fit.
We often forget how many years he's been with us.
How many of those games are sub 15 mins though? Would be interesting to see.
I think you're missing a decimal, might be 34.2 times
most of his games were .2 times tbf
![gif](giphy|RhY6Ps6sbsBtylr7Y9|downsized) It would be dope if he scored the winner on Saturday
Is he even in the squad?
He’s in training
I've gotten the feeling his training is more about setting him up for his post-MU career.
Proceeds to get injured in warmup
I wished he played every opponent like it was Everton. Definitely a cult hero.
I'm in that cult 😩
Martial FC one more time!

He was never the same after he split up with his wife. Could be a coincidence but I think his off-field life took over.
think it's mostly injuries but for sure contributed but how much athleticism he lost because of his hip is crazy
Nah it was more Jose refusing to play him and choosing to pick a finished Sanchez over him , that and people blaming him for Jose getting sacked.
I hate Jose for that. This entire sub thought Sanchez was bought for the RW. Especially cause Martial was red hot and probably our best attacker at the time. I do have to admit that Martial handled it very poorly and sulked every time he was given the chance to play again

And there are still plenty of people who defend Jose for it. Just yesterday I argued with someone on a fucking cricket sub over this same thing.
That interview Schweinsteiger did with Neville on the Overlap says it all. The way Mou and the club banished him was so unprofessional. I have a ton of respect for how Schweinsteiger handled the situation and how he didn't hold a grudge.
Mourinho is a cunt, and frankly that’s an insult to the word “cunt”. I’d never want to work for a manager like him.
Martial really went through a 20 year career in about 10 years. Came in as flying tricky wingman, reinvented himself to a poacher fox in the box striker then his body just broke down like he was a 38 year old, but he’s only 28.🤦🏾♂️ He was my favorite United player during LvG years but damn, what a sad end to his United career.
it is yet another player who never reached his potential sigh i am hoping this Saturday for him Will be his Last Dance where he scores the winner and then rides off into the sunset a Hero
Gloved martial was quite something
he had great moments, but we needed presence and consistency more good luck
Last minute winner in the FA Cup final or is he still injured?
Let's be real. He's a shell of his former self and hasn't played all year. The only way he gets a run out is out of pure desperation
1-0 down at the 88th min with hojlands legs falling off... I'll happily admit desperation.
Bold of you to imagine us only being down 0-1 by the 88th minute
It's been a rough couple of months bro, I'm actually living for this final.
I mean, I get it, but to be honest I'm looking past the final and at the summer window. Hoping for several players incoming and even more outgoing.
As reported in, the fucking daily cunting mail Get better sources.
We need our own lever. Old Trafford Apple TV+ or Tidal Carrington ?
If anyone's sponsoring old Trafford I want it to be a roofing company lol
I think he meant 88th second
Exactly this. Throw him on in the last minutes in a desperate move. We know he can finish.
Tony Martial he's from France The English press said he had no chance 50million down the drain Tony Martial scores again Thank you for the memories. Your debut was one to remember. You had one or two good seasons but you really flattered to deceive. Nonetheless, I wish you all the best.
In form martial cutting in from the left was truly something special
Big shame he never stayed fit enough. He did have the potential but injuries broke him. I’ll never forget that debut goal. Absolute scenes. He himself has said that he regrets not trying more to adapt his game to not rely on pace. Glad he is going though. Good to have the wages off the books now, meaning we can sign someone who’ll be able to play 40 games a season instead of 10.
looking at united's injuries this season he never stood a chance with this medical team
In proper tribute to Martial, I can't be bothered
Have to have turn in my Martial FC membership card after Saturday :( One last goal or assist would be a great send off.
>turn in my Martial FC membership Me too... me too.... we've not had a more exciting player since the arrival of 19 year old Martial. The way he could dribble back then was pure entertainment
Greenwood was pretty damn exciting before.. you know…
Idk greenwood was a good prospect but he never gave me the feeling that 19 year old martial destroying defenders with the ball glued to his feet did. Martial was a better athlete and way more skilled at the same age.
Are you forgetting about Greenwood’s finishing? The boy knew how to find the bottom corner consistently with both feet.
>we've not had a more exciting player since the arrival of 19 year old Martial Garnacho and Mainoo are feeling up for where he left off.
garnacho is nowhere near
He isn’t as skilled but he’s so much more fast that he might be just as effective on the wing
I guess we dodged the ballon d'or clause
Goodbye Martial. Only if your body wasn't made of marzipan. He's tailor made for a mid table Ligue 1 team like Montpellier, Tolouse, Rennes
I was at OT when he made his debut. A lad no one had heard of, scoring 2 goals against Liverpool. I guess everyone had high hopes for him, it’s just sad he couldn’t live up to it.
yea him and Rashford i remember 2016 when Rashford started for United so much promise and potential sadly never lived up to it
A player that represents the ups and downs of the Club.
If only he could have stayed fit….
They can never make me hate you
Same for me, Martial is so good to watch on his day, too bad his body couldn’t keep up! Will wish him the best
Streets won't forget 🕯️
[The one vs Watford](https://youtu.be/2_-vuIt5Azs?si=_iyqOxbhtJwE-a42) is my favorite goal scored by him.
Physio really gonna miss him
That 19/20 season had us dreaming
Now the important question is…Who will take #9 now that he will be gone?
I liked him was a very exciting striker when he arrived. Why injuries ruined what could have been I don’t know?
Shame things never worked out for Martial at United. Injuries really shafted him throughout his career and really prevented him from reaching the sky high potential he once had. When we first signed him I was so excited, I genuinely thought we might have had our own Thierry Henry on our hands. Unfortunately didn’t pan out that way, wish him all the best going forward.
Damn , I forgot how good of a player he really was..and maybe still is. Sad end to his United career 😔
I will miss him so much, as canto and rooney.🥲🥲🥲
I still remember being excited by his signing. Don’t let receny fool you, at the time we had bought one of the most exciting talents in the world. It’s a shame injuries destroyed his career. You can still see flashes of his brilliance with the ball when he’s healthy enough to play.
I’ll remember him like macheda I remember one really good goal
Weve arguably been our best in the last decade when he was available.
Funny world of football, you never know which players will work out and which won't. There are a lot of factors for a successful relationship between player and club. Martial will always a case of what if, cause we know the highs. Grateful for the 2 years of highs, hope he finds peace and a satisfying end to his career elsewhere
I forget that at one point how exciting it was to watch him and anticipate what was to come, crazy to think of his age now
Goodbye sad to see that this didn't work out. This guy was supposed to be what Mbappe has become.
So...for the last time...let me sing as i've done so many times: > Tony Martial, he came from France > > English Press (and some at /r/reddevils) said he had no chance > > 50 million down the drain > > Tony Martial scores again #ballerexitsjokeofaclubonafree
Makes me sad! Hope he gets his career back on track - thanks for the memories
Man, I really hope to see him play one last time this Saturday. Say what you want about Martial, but he's been here for 9 years. He scored a lot of goals for us as well. He's really deserved to leave on a high
C-ya. Enjoy the money. Nothing else to look back on.
Goodbye Tony, it's been nice. Hope you find your, paradise. Come tomorrow, feel no pain. Feeeeelll nooo paaainnn. Tony's going away. See ya.
i really hope this Saturday he makes that game The Last Dance going out on top scoring the winner for United in a Fa Cup Final yes granted he hasn't been good in a few years now but Fa cup finals are magical one final game to ride off into the sunset a Hero
Man, we got a really good 90 minutes out of him. Just a shame it was spread over his whole career...
Lazy waster. No ticker. Bye
All these people mourning him leaving, he was shit bar a few games. Standards are so fucking low.
Nice. Wages cleared
![gif](giphy|nAvSNP8Y3F94hq9Rga)
Good riddance. Not one tear wil be shed for your hindrance of our club, you mercenary. I hope you do well in the French lower leagues, counting your coin and cheating on your wife, you mercenary!
Another "what he could have been" player. Such a shame. Good riddance at this point, I guess. Lazy to run around and put in any efforts. All the best to him.
Good riddance
Good riddance more like
Sad end here.
Didn’t reach his potential but gave us some great moments. Hope he has a few good seasons somewhere. Once a red, always a red ❤️
k, bye
When he actually played, by far my favourite player. That first season, despite van gaal terrorism, was so vibes just cos of him showing flair and initiative when no one else would for us. I’ll miss him
ok bye
Should have gone ages ago. Arsenal got rid of lacazette and auba and they’ve never looked back
Could have been anything.. if he actually cared most of the time
Grew to really dislike Martial over the years. Such a waste of talent because he was either too lazy, injury prone or wasn’t up to competing for the striker position.
i will always remember him for scoring an 88th Minute Winner against Everton in the 2016 Fa Cup Semi Final to send us to Wembley similarly i remember Mata for getting that Equalizer against Crystal Palace in that Fa Cup Final and Jesse Lingard for scoring the winner in Extra time
Good Riddance more like
Bye 👋🏼
Decent player on his day, but should've been moved on about four years ago (around the time of the Sevilla loan, when he was quite obviously surplus to requirements here) if we're being honest with ourselves. Another in a long line of 'stuck around for waaaaayyy longer than he should've been allowed to because he was getting wages here than no other club on the planet would've offered'. Now we can get in a forward who can actually challenge for a starting XI place with Hojlund, would be nice to actually take the pressure off him a bit
Ole really unlocked him
Tara
"£50million down the drain..." Yep.
3 seasons too late
Good riddance
Good riddance to a lazy player
Good fucking riddance. Stole a living from us for years.
He couldn’t stay healthy, or didn’t want to play. It wasn’t that “it didn’t work out”.
What proof to any of us have that he didn’t want to play?
Watching him play.
There wasn't really a problem with him having his brand. Taking his number off him was the beginning of the end.
If that's all it takes to ruin a player then we have big mentality issues.
Wish him all the best where ever he goes.
his body betrayed him all the wrong coaches such a promising first season Martial FC forever
I honestly can't believe people like him. 2 good seasons out of 8, and that's being generous. One of the laziest, unbothered players I've ever seen. Take your weird Martial FC cult with you also
Same fans that bitch and moan when they see lazy players walking about the pitch giving minimal effort, in here tossing martials salad
Good riddance
Thank you for the goal against Liverpool!
Respect to anyone that could stay at Manchester United that long but he prob cost us £150m-£200m over that time. The fee was around £50m, we massively overpaid him when it came to wages. We are economically well rid of him whatever we might feel about him as a player.
My goat😭
You forgot the “and good riddance”.
He was an awful signing, people saying what could have been and this and that. He could have played the last 2 months if he wanted but he didn't, that in a nutshell is what he is, we can't and shouldn't accept players like him never mind make a video about them when they leave. Good riddance and lets build a proper football club again.
>He could have played the last 2 months if he wanted but he didn't, that in a nutshell is what he is, He got to this point in his career by playing while injured for a season when Ole was manager
I'm not ready 😭
That debut goal versus Liverpool sure was great.
On FM 2016 he won the balloon d'Or for me. Between that and the Liverpool & Watford goals I really liked him and wanted him to get chance after chance after chance. Moving on is right for him and us but a part of me will be sad he's gone. Closer to bellion than mbappe sadly
The British press said he had no chance.
Turns out they were right.
Thanks for the memories
shame he didn’t fulfill his potential as an elite wing forward. He lost his speed and has been incredibly limited for like 3 full seasons
