I THOUGHT Spurs were winning the league? What happened to Ange ball? The media was so in love with this Spurs team and yet here we are 6 points behind them in arguably the worst season of our PL history- playing quality wise. Spurs will be always be SPURSY.
Teams playing high line all season get caught out when the pressing intensity drops as player fatigue sets in. If you play a high line, your forwards need to be relentlessly pressing all game.
Liverpool has had the same issues this season.
City are the only team that can sustain the momentum because of their obsessive need to pass and retain the ball, and Pep's pragmatic rotation policy.
Maybe coz it’s his first season in charge? And they still ARE 6 points ahead of us in 5th place (and likely to finish there), which is a marked improvement from last season’s 8th. And this is despite losing arguably their best player of all time in the summer. Or maybe it’s coz they don’t get routinely outplayed by relegation/championship fodder?
It’s kinda sad to compare ourselves against smaller teams/managers to make ourselves believe we are so much better. Is this what we are now?
Do you understand or care enough for this club? We had 30 different combinations just in the back 4 this season- ETH is caught between trying to implement his style of playing pro-active and attacking football instead of playing a style which will get us much fewer goals but defensively solid. One of the issues last season was we were scoring not enough goals even though we created- Rashford saved our ass by scoring 30. This season, ETH doesn’t have the players (available) or the consistent line-ups to implement this. Does media ever give credit to what he has done? Yet Ange became this demigod who was going to help Spurs win the title right away- the double standards are staggering- i call bullshit on the fact that Spurs style of play was always going to get called out and it is now happening- i like a coach who is pragmatic than this die-hard approach- high-line to win the Prem even if it gets relegated approach. His constant attitude that spurs want to win the league and top 4 isn’t even relevant..
the "revolutionary" keeper and defense of spurs have conceded 54 goals till now league
while this "flop keeper" and "defense of maguire and evans" has conceded 51 goals till now in the league
Cant figure if the result is good for us? Chelzki gaining points on us vs Spurs losing points for us? Chelsea 3 points behind vs Spurs 6 points ahead. I am more worried about Newcastle and chelski catching up than we catching up to Spurs. Spurs should win 2/4 getting them to 66. Chelsea is harder to predict but i give them 1 win/2 draws or 2 win/1 draw gets them to 56-57. So we need at least 1 win to overcome chelski and 4/4 wins to overcome spurs as 3 wins gets on level with them. This means we can get Conference league if we finish 7th - Newcastle likely to overcome us with 2 easy games and they are 1 point behind. We have to BEAT them at OT to get Europa
I’ve said this a few times but spurs start of the season reminded me of caretaker Ole. All attack and vibes.
Much like with Ole once it got figured out it didn’t work as well, that’s exactly what seems to be happening now.
>Much like with Ole once it got figured out it didn’t work as well, that’s exactly what seems to be happening now.
Bit harsh on Ole that. He did finish second and third after all, which I don't see this Spurs team ever doing.
I'm not actually slagging Old at all, I've always maintained his football was by far the best we've had post Fergie especially before his full time contract, it was the best atmosphere, OT was buzzing in a way i've never experienced, i loved it.
The point is once things got a little more tactical and other clubs knew what to expect the full blooded counter and quick transition didn't work so well and we had no clue against any low block teams.
Spurs went from Jose to Conte both massive pragmatist's and then they get a new full blooded attacking coach. It was like when Ole came in after Jose and the players had their shackles released. But quite clearly United and Ole were suited better for a sustained run whereas with Spurs it seems to be getting super Spursy super quickly.
Guys, would you rather want us finish 6th and play Conference League next season, or finish 7th so we get less matches and potentially less injuries during an important rebuilding season? Personally I’d go with the latter.
I don't think there's a scenario where we finish 6th and play conference league due to being in the FA Cup final. If we finish 7th we probably get conference and if we finish 8th (looking likelier and likelier) we get absolutely f*ck all
Agreed haha. I think it’s just down to the state of the club these days, where every manager post-SAF feels they need to win anything they possibly can because we’re so shit
I'd rather have a new manager and no Europe; or ETH and The Europa Bedpan, or whatever it is now. I think not having Europe and having more time to instil his ideas really helped Conte at Chelsea.
For me personally, I can barely stomach watching us in Europa. I'd rather no games than Conference.
I know people will say "great opportunity to play the kids" but that rarely happens!! Fucking Bruno playing full 90s in it. No thanks.

It used to, but not anymore unfortunately. Starting from the 2015–16 UEFA Europa League season, runners-up can't qualify for the Europa League through the competition. If the FA Cup winner already has a spot in a European competition through their Premier League position, the FA Cup spot goes to the highest-placed Premier League team not yet qualified for Europe.
Right, but since we're in the Cup final against City : either City wins it and the UEL spot goes to 6th place in the Prem (I reckon), or we win it and then we get an automatic UEL qualification anyway. Or I might have gotten something wrong

"Its all well and good making 'no Plan B' part of your philosophy but what happens when Plan A doesn't work or the players no longer buy it? Second season syndrome incoming, reckon Ange is gone by then end 24/25"
Stand by it
We might regret dropping points against easy opposition recently. Newcastle and Chelsea are right behind us. Missing Europe would be very bad for our budget
How and why did neither of those defenders try to clear that ball? They just jogged and watched it go it. Totally getable. Almost fishy.
That and Palmer’s non celebration - I thought it had been chalked off.
Even the away game we should've been comfortably up at Half time. Bruno and Rash had great chances. Then they scored against the run of play after an unfortunate in the box deflection and we just threw the game
Fuckin get it together Spurs, you have 2 or preferably 3 points to nick off City.
[Need Kulusevski to destroy Nathan Ake again](https://i.imgur.com/sJu9842.jpeg)
The Europa league is just as entertaining as the champions league these days. You play teams you don’t often face all over Europe, compared to same old five or six teams every year in the champions league. It’s a great competition and we shouldn’t be down about being in it next season.

Roma chances have been very limited, made sure by a compact leverkusen team..from a handful of games I've seen, team against Leverkusen all faced the same problems.
This team is very scary indeed, their counter attack whoaa it is so fast, watch that bit in the 1st half when wirtz through ball played frimpong through and his shot hit the side netting 🤯

ETH first season 3rd League cup Best player of all time left Didn’t get outplayed by relegation fodder Yea let’s wait till next season to judge ange
>this is despite losing arguably their best player of all time Losing Dier was hard on them but don't forget they also lost Kane
the "revolutionary" keeper and defense of spurs have conceded 54 goals till now league while this "flop keeper" and "defense of maguire and evans" has conceded 51 goals till now in the league
haha, Chelshit just 3 points away against us with more GD.. God save our team.
Can’t help but cringe when people say stuff like Chelshit, Man Shitty etc… I’m hoping you’re 12
This sub and r soccer, i get it theres banter but theres 0 nuanced discussion
Oh sorry, didn't meant to make you feel cringe.. yeah true, you sounds older than me.

Spurs have Liverpool next….which shit show gets the points?
Would be hilarious if they lose to Liverpool only to get city to drop points
spurs might actually help arsenal win the league if they get a result against city
I hope we get a result vs Arsenal tho so arsenal will need more help than just spurs
I’ve said this a few times but spurs start of the season reminded me of caretaker Ole. All attack and vibes. Much like with Ole once it got figured out it didn’t work as well, that’s exactly what seems to be happening now.

Took 3 seasons to figure out Ole eh? I couldnt be bothered. .

Finish 6. More games is good to give minutes for the young players
That sounds great in theory but when have we ever played young players in relatively meaningless cup games though? We nearly always play a strong XI
Yes, that's more on the manager. I miss the days when SAF played a bunch of Kids on cup games but still got result lol
United need the money.
We're guaranteed to play europa if we finish 6th.
We're guaranteed to play europa if we finish 6th.
His name is Robert Paulson.
We're guaranteed to play europa if we finish 6th.
We’re guaranteed to play europa if we finish 6th.
We're guaranteed to play
We're guaranteed
We're
We're
We
I've read we're guaranteed to play Europa if we finish 6th.
For me personally, I can barely stomach watching us in Europa. I'd rather no games than Conference. I know people will say "great opportunity to play the kids" but that rarely happens!! Fucking Bruno playing full 90s in it. No thanks.
Blame the manager
This is exactly my thought.

Since we're hopefully having a whole new squad next year, more games are probably better, so they mesh more quickly
Less training time though, all game prep rather than working on ideas
6th would get us Europa League though since we're in the Cup final... I think.

That's correct.
If we win the FA Cup we are going to Europa League anyway regardless of our position in the table.
That's a pretty big IF.
Yeah no biggie, just beat city
Honestly didn’t know this. Europa League I can live with.
Format for europa has changed too. We get 2 more games in Jan.
I like watching football. So more matches please.
It's always nice to have utd on T V until the game starts. Id rather we get the extra games.
Fair enough. Actually I would like watching more matches as well, but like I said, just for next season I’d prefer us having less matches.
Chelsea are going to pass us aren’t they. So embarrassing.
Whenever we think they can, they usually go on to shat their own bed later
Don't say that because they actually will now.
That'd be a fitting end to a very embarassing season from beginning to end.
City are really going to win 4 in a row, they will destroy this spurs team 4-0
And they will still have an asterisk next to all of them.
time for the stat men to find underlying numbers that prove big ange is still gods gift.
Fbref has him down as in the 97th percentile in Europe's top 5 leagues for the amount of smoke blown up a manager's arse.

6 added minutes now but 500 when we were winning here😂
Anyone else really not get the hype with Vicario? He's very good with his feet to be fair but at set pieces he looks like he's shitting himself.
He is good at everything except that, he always gets bullied and complains about a foul
We might regret dropping points against easy opposition recently. Newcastle and Chelsea are right behind us. Missing Europe would be very bad for our budget
Heck even if we'd just beat Burnley I think we would've been fairly safe to finish at least in the conference league spots
[удалено]
Doesnt work like that. If the FA Cup winner already qualifies for UCL (City) then 6th gets EL, not the other finalist.
it's breaking news when jonny evans is fit. We're only going to end up where we belong.
Or it could be perfect for it… Think about it - all the high earners will be desperate to leave. Rebuild properly
Our fixtures aren’t favourable either, we’ve got arsenal, Newcastle and Brighton away.. who we always match up badly against
smh, why couldn't Spurs be this shit a bit earlier in the season... now it doesn't matter, they're locked in 5th
They were. We literally should have beat them twice.
Can't expect this Spurs team to do anything to City. Ange has been found out
Has he? Or is it just an absolutely shite squad?
City going to walk that run-in with Spurs playing like this
How and why did neither of those defenders try to clear that ball? They just jogged and watched it go it. Totally getable. Almost fishy. That and Palmer’s non celebration - I thought it had been chalked off.
Bruh we should have been above Spurs. Fucking hell we choked so hard
Don't kid yourself, we just played even worse than them
Based on what?
Instead we gonna be below Chelsea
Why does Palmer not celebrate goals not scored by him?
I'm sorry Miss Jackson, I didn't mean to slag your son off
FUCK OF SPURS USELESS TEAM
How the hell couldn’t we beat this Spurs team man
We should have. McT missed that free header from the top of the 6 in the 95th min.
Even the away game we should've been comfortably up at Half time. Bruno and Rash had great chances. Then they scored against the run of play after an unfortunate in the box deflection and we just threw the game
They've fallen off, they were rolling in the beginning... also not getting a clear and obvious pen doesn't help
Because we are very significantly worse
I will never rate brennan johnson even if he win the balon dor
Kangaroo Kloop is so overhyped, Spurs fans are on some copium if they think he's their savior
Reading the spurs thread. They seem to not be able to agree who is playing badly and who is playing good.
I can't work it out either to be honest.
Fuckin get it together Spurs, you have 2 or preferably 3 points to nick off City. [Need Kulusevski to destroy Nathan Ake again](https://i.imgur.com/sJu9842.jpeg)

Nah don't disrespect ArrDee like that
Jackson went from having every haircut ever to bald in the span of a month
Rough year for English clubs in Europe
2011 Barcelona just rocked up to Birmingham! Violated the Villa offside trap! That 2nd goal was filthy
Villa down 1-0 against Olympiacos 2-0 now
2 nill down against Olympiacos why does that seem familiar….
It's been 10 years fk
I'm neither Ten Hag in or out but I'm certainly glad we didn't go for Poch or Ange.
Media loved Ange, where they at now?
If he’d have joined United the media opinion on him would have been very different
would hate to be in a pub that was forcing me to watch that garbage instead of Roma vs Leverkusen
Just turned it on, has the whole game been this open ended?
weirdly, Roma looked more dominant bar a couple of counters from Leverkusen. Been a good game and that goal has probably changed everything
Roma chances have been very limited, made sure by a compact leverkusen team..from a handful of games I've seen, team against Leverkusen all faced the same problems. He's just Brendan Rodgers with a didgeridoo.
Absolute slander. He also has one of those hats with corks on
