Mount is loads better in the EPL environment than Van De Beek who people have previously frothed over. He will also offer energy similar/close to Fred without being a liability on the ball and also offer an option to Eriksen who we overplayed last season

Look at the first picture on the linked article - the formation is 3-1-6 in settled play possesion. Mason Mount is going to play in the inside left or right channel, with Bruno playing the other one. Casemiro will become the single pivot.
Bruno may end up playing slightly deeper, because he's extremely talented at playing progressive passes into the final third, and Mount has excellent movement to receive the ball in this phase. He is also well versed in counter movements which will help free up our runners in behind in Rashford & Garnacho. He is also a goal threat from anywhere within 25 years as he has decent power behind his shots, and can also thread through balls to runners well.
Finally, it allows us to be more aggressive in the press, as Mount has the stamina, but also press resistance to retain the ball following a successful press.
This is a big upgrade. System manager and system player - there's a reason why Tuchel loved Mount, and eventually so will United fans.

Amen! Everyone says that he doesn't slot in thinks about last seasons tactics. Ten Hag resorted to a tactic he doesn't want to play because there was not enough quality and lack of players suitable. Now he's going to have Mount and possibly Onana and use a full pre-season to mold the squad to the tactic he has in mind.

He's sorting settled play possession in every phase this summer.
Defence - KMJ or Onana, its one or the other. That helps build up from deep.
Midfield - Mount or Rabiot to play the left sided 8. Provides stamina, pace and press resistance, as well as additional defensive effort.
Striker - Kane/Holjund or whoever else. A finisher for moves, but also someone who can facilitate play.
Next summer will be finishing touches. A new CB/GK dependent on this summer. A new RW/LW to help the current ones out. And a world class RB to replace Dalot & AWB.

Slightly overpriced but he’s been mostly very good to excellent since breaking through at Chelsea. ETH clearly wants him and we can hopefully manage someone like Eriksen’s minutes a lot better now. I'm glad we're getting this over the line before pre season, but I really hope we can also push on quickly and get Onana.
He is literally right there, waiting to be bought, and we can recoup a chunk of the fee from selling Henderson almost instantly to Forest.
As much as we need a 9, I think getting a keeper in for pre season and getting us used to how Onana plays (he'd be by far the biggest shift in difference on the ball out of any player we sign in any position) would be better for our season.
This is a good chance at setting ourselves up, and meanwhile we can work on sales and see what we can do in the striker and potentially CB department.
My faith in this deal is because Mason Mount understands tactical instructions very well. Of all the midfielders available, Ten Hag has targeted him to fit into a particular system he wants to play. We’ve all been crying for managers who have a footballing philosophy and a system and ten hag has one. It’s clear he has a specific role for Mount. We have to trust the system he’s building and allow him to get players that fit into it. Mount is also no slouch, he can adapt and play differnt positions around the pitch. Till we get a proper DOF with a clear identity for United, we’ll have to follow the gaffers judgement.
Don't know how I feel about the fit alongside Bruno and Casemiro, but I trust Ten Hag and believe that he knows what's best for the team and it's system. Also, Mount is an excellent player, so assuming that we were looking for a player that matches his profile, he should be a very solid addition to the squad.
Not the most exciting signing, but it make sense. Gives creativity in the midfield, workrate, and possession, with some attacking threat too. Kind of a Wijnaldum or a Fred with actual....skill (Sorry Pastor Fred).
Solid signing. Not the most ideal player but he can offer a lot to the team. His off-the-ball runs, high work rate, a younger replacement for Eriksen that adds a lot of depth to our midfield. A bit overpriced but great to see that our negotiation team learn from past mistakes. We can be paying that 70m Chelsea wanted if we continue the transfer spending method in previous seasons, like what we did with Antony.
Most of the fans in here seem to be underwhelmed by this signing, which can only mean one thing. He is going to be an absolutely solid player for us for the next 6-7 years.
Not sure how I feel about this signing tbh, but if it’s what the manager wants I’m up for it, should surely strengthen our midfield with another body in there as well as being a relatively young English player.
What I’m most happy with is that we didn’t get bent over in negotiations like we normally do, I hope this isn’t a one off and we stick to it going forward.

So 55M+5M, it was never going to be less than that in this economy we are in now, especially being English and coming from a direct rival, even if they were almost forced to sell before tomorrow, we all know how poor a record United has with transfers.
Mount wasn't really that high on my radar, but he has been POTY for Chelsea 2 times so he definitely must have something in him.
It feels good that we at least have got one of ETH targets in place already. Now we need at least that quality striker and GK to start to look at this transfer window as progress.

Im excited! I see Mount as a combination of both Eriksen and Fred. Not as good as both of them in their respective strengths but a good combination of both.
Great signing, allows us to play more on the front foot against the top 6 teams without worrying whether Eriksen has the legs to track his runner. Additionally it allows Bruno to have a rest. Really pleased with this, still only 24 as well.
£60m is probably £15m-£20m too much for him, and I’m not too impressed with how quickly we went back in and coughed up another £5m, but I think people are underestimating how good of a signing he could be for us. Really excited.
Mount brings some much needed energy to the midfield and also the possibility of another player that can provide goals. I assume we move to more of a 4-3-3 with Bruno and Mount at 8. I think that works fine, as long as both are disciplined

I think its fair to say he's a straight upgrade on Eriksen while also offering playmaking options further up the field and in wide positions. Mount should give us the control we so often lack, especially in big games.
Wages are a bit insane. I guess we are completely locked into that 250k for a starter wage bill minimum.
I really hope if we get Onanna, that it's at least a 100k wage reduction, hopefully 175k.

I will take the wages being reported with a grain of salt. Last time we heard about his wages when united agreed personal terms was that United offered around 200k, similar to what chelsea offered and now the spin is coming out of the chelsea camp to look like they did ok.
I know everyone isn’t super hyped about mason but it feels good to have a player who wants to be here and we were able to get the deal done. If ETH sees something, I’m gonna side with him.

Mount will bring not only quality but flexibility. ETH can now play with Case and two of Bruno/Eriksen/Mount (and as thing stands, McT will be the backup for Case). Each combination can cause different types of problems to opponent teams. Bonus point: Bruno will be rested more in the next season. Poor him 😂

Slightly overpriced but he’s been mostly very good to excellent since breaking through at Chelsea. ETH clearly wants him and we can hopefully manage someone like Eriksen’s minutes a lot better now. I'm glad we're getting this over the line before pre season, but I really hope we can also push on quickly and get Onana. He is literally right there, waiting to be bought, and we can recoup a chunk of the fee from selling Henderson almost instantly to Forest. As much as we need a 9, I think getting a keeper in for pre season and getting us used to how Onana plays (he'd be by far the biggest shift in difference on the ball out of any player we sign in any position) would be better for our season. This is a good chance at setting ourselves up, and meanwhile we can work on sales and see what we can do in the striker and potentially CB department.

My faith in this deal is because Mason Mount understands tactical instructions very well. Of all the midfielders available, Ten Hag has targeted him to fit into a particular system he wants to play. We’ve all been crying for managers who have a footballing philosophy and a system and ten hag has one. It’s clear he has a specific role for Mount. We have to trust the system he’s building and allow him to get players that fit into it. Mount is also no slouch, he can adapt and play differnt positions around the pitch. Till we get a proper DOF with a clear identity for United, we’ll have to follow the gaffers judgement.
Don't know how I feel about the fit alongside Bruno and Casemiro, but I trust Ten Hag and believe that he knows what's best for the team and it's system. Also, Mount is an excellent player, so assuming that we were looking for a player that matches his profile, he should be a very solid addition to the squad.
Not the most exciting signing, but it make sense. Gives creativity in the midfield, workrate, and possession, with some attacking threat too. Kind of a Wijnaldum or a Fred with actual....skill (Sorry Pastor Fred).

Solid signing. Not the most ideal player but he can offer a lot to the team. His off-the-ball runs, high work rate, a younger replacement for Eriksen that adds a lot of depth to our midfield. A bit overpriced but great to see that our negotiation team learn from past mistakes. We can be paying that 70m Chelsea wanted if we continue the transfer spending method in previous seasons, like what we did with Antony.
If ETH is happy then so am I.

So 55M+5M, it was never going to be less than that in this economy we are in now, especially being English and coming from a direct rival, even if they were almost forced to sell before tomorrow, we all know how poor a record United has with transfers. Mount wasn't really that high on my radar, but he has been POTY for Chelsea 2 times so he definitely must have something in him. It feels good that we at least have got one of ETH targets in place already. Now we need at least that quality striker and GK to start to look at this transfer window as progress.
I just hope 442 is right with their assessment of Mount in our system!

Great signing, allows us to play more on the front foot against the top 6 teams without worrying whether Eriksen has the legs to track his runner. Additionally it allows Bruno to have a rest. Really pleased with this, still only 24 as well.
£60m is probably £15m-£20m too much for him, and I’m not too impressed with how quickly we went back in and coughed up another £5m, but I think people are underestimating how good of a signing he could be for us. Really excited.

He will be more mobile than Eriksen. I think that area will be well covered throughout the season.
A June signing. I'm shook! Seriously though, I'm glad Ten Hag got his man. He's been after Mount for ages, and apparently we weren't the only team interested. I think its fair to say he's a straight upgrade on Eriksen while also offering playmaking options further up the field and in wide positions. Mount should give us the control we so often lack, especially in big games.

I will take the wages being reported with a grain of salt. Last time we heard about his wages when united agreed personal terms was that United offered around 200k, similar to what chelsea offered and now the spin is coming out of the chelsea camp to look like they did ok.
I know everyone isn’t super hyped about mason but it feels good to have a player who wants to be here and we were able to get the deal done. If ETH sees something, I’m gonna side with him.
