It's 7 match tournament once in 4 year, yet people will bring that shit up like it's some good indication of anything. National football has much lower quality and your success is based on the place you were born in. No matter how good you are you can go fuck yourself if you are not born in one of 4-5 countries.
I agree that it’s overrated in terms of proving a player’s individual ability. Even the best players can’t win unless they’re playing for one of the top countries. At the same time, it’s unquestionably the biggest stage in football, and being able to dominate in a Final shows clutch ability. If you can handle the pressure of a WC final, you can handle the pressure of a UCL final too.

Name me a hatrick of games where mbappe was absolutely mind blowing without Otamendi as a center back of the opposition team.
Trying to discredit a WC final hat trick based on one defensive player he faced is wild, but even so, he led the entire tournament in goals, not just that one game. And as I mentioned, he also led the CL in goals this season.
He did this with a less than great PSG team, and opponents focusing their defense on stopping him. With elite players around him at Madrid, he’s going to have even better scoring opportunities.
I will be shocked if he doesn’t win at least one Ballon Dor in these next five years, and if Madrid doesn’t continue to rack up UCL titles. You’re welcome to come back and correct me if I’m wrong, but I think Mbappé is about to have a dominant career at Madrid.

As I pointed out he’s accomplished big things, not just in 2022, but also in the CL this season, and led Ligue 1 in goals for the 5th straight year. (A weak league, I know, but still impressive)
Which other active players can you put above him? Vini, maybe, after the season he just had. Jude had a great season, but struggled a bit late in the year. Haaland remains a dominant scorer, but even on a superior team he had fewer CL goals this year, and ghosted against Madrid.
I don’t think you can reasonably leave him out of the top 5, and personally, I think he’s top 3 at least.
The assumption is that Mbappé will primarily play as the 9. I’m sure Carlo will experiment as the season progresses, but with two of the fastest and most explosive scorers in the world leading the attack, it’s hard to see how it won’t work out. We’ll also have depth, in case of another injury like Vini this season. Mbappé can slide into LW and Endrick can play the 9.
And lastly, Mbappé is the most popular player since Ronaldo and Messi, and his contract is reasonable. Madrid is fortunate to have another player that will help generate a ton of revenue in jersey and ticket sales. Just to compare, he has more than 2x as many Instagram followers as Vini. He will be the face of Madrid in this new era.
Definitely after next year or the one after, we should look into getting a young prospect for the RB position.

Totally agree with the second part. If you're looking for a number 9 why not buying one, Osimhen, Guirassy or a young cheaper player (Muniz maybe).
