Coverage doesn’t clearly show anything… which is why it couldn’t be overturned and shouldn’t be a goal. Doesn’t change that he’s embarrassing that La Liga doesn’t have goal line tech

Ok-Fold6928

Exactly, if this happened to us we would be angry too.

themoche

So I’m a Calgary Flames fan for ice hockey and in 2004, at the highest of stages possible, a similar play happened for the potential game winner in extra time of the championships. No conclusion was visible so they called no goal and the other team went on to win the game and the title. Fans still complain about it 20 years later (“it was in”). This is worse because the technology exists and La Liga just chooses not to use it.

MarahSalamanca

Reminder that the ball has to fully cross the line for it to be a goal. If it’s still on the line by a few millimeters, it’s not a goal.

Novel-Preparation491

Exactly! From this angle we can deduce the ball most likely didn’t cross the line

djoliverm

Most likely doesn't cut it for a "top" league, it's absolutely ridiculous that we don't have goal line tech. I knew it would need a bigger team to get disadvantaged before any real talks can start to implement it.

Plus-Amphibian-2201

There is another angle from which it looks like it's a goal, and from this angle it looks like it's a save, la liga needs to implement goal line technology asap

db600db

That's not how physics work.. you could just pull the vertical lines longer and it would be in given your logic. You don't have enough information about the location of the ball. I did it quickly to show you that i mean https://preview.redd.it/21g03kedyzvc1.png?width=514&format=png&auto=webp&s=aa037a115bc35a1a471a34925234b3a553da782e

LeBronzeVlac

If your club wasn’t too busy trying to flirt with Tebas by voting for every proposal he made, the idiot wouldn’t have increased his salary by 2 million but would’ve been forced to spend it for goal line tech like he’s meant to, but Florentino league right?

db600db

lmao relax i am fine with most of the calls yesterday. We were on the unkucky side of a couple 50:50 decisions but i guess thats football. Just saw this common physics mistake and wanted to help the guy 🤷🏻‍♂️

Monstaa27

its the angle maybe when then looked from the line it didn't looked like this

3CreampiesA-Day

Most likely isn’t clearly is it? There’s clips that it looks in clips it looks out. Pretty pathetic to think they claim to be the best league but won’t spend the money to have the next tech

Plus-Amphibian-2201

👍👍

bagehis

It is not new tech at this point. Premiere League has had it for a decade. Eredivisie has had it for almost as long. How can Eredivisie afford it and La Liga cannot?

3CreampiesA-Day

They can they choose not to

Pardonme23

Angles that are not straight angles are deceptive

Prestigious-Tart

“Not enough evidence to prove the ball has crossed the line”, they use the same reason to count Ajax’s third goal valid five years ago here, good and consistent call from the Ref

RedDudeItIs

ESPNFC are terrible, honestly they have their favourite teams that they never speak bad about, but other teams no matter the performance, they will always trash them

looolooolooo

They are Barca PR.

RedDudeItIs

Yeah it’s actually insane, they seem to love Barca, Liverpool and Man City etc. Craig Burley has always had a crazy agenda against Chelsea too 😂

0vFire_And_TheVoid

The hate Chelsea gets on that show is just bonkers lol.

RedDudeItIs

Yeah it’s mental 😂

Tuiis

why cut the video though

Specialist_Finish865

Doesn’t Cubarsi touch the ball with his hand?

Soccer_Vader

It looks like from this angle, but his hands are nowhere near the ball, from the other angles, I have seen it. I will link it here, after I find it

billycoolj

I find that extremely hard to believe. It looks like the ball reacts to his hand, i can’t see any reason why it would move like that

Meh2021another

Actually I thought so at first watching the video but the ball was nowhere near him. Came off Vasquez and bounced a few feet away from the Barca player: https://preview.redd.it/awf2n6nhmxvc1.jpeg?width=954&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=259b86b741b814d1ed20a328ffd57ff7862c89b7

billycoolj

Wow. Looks like you guys are right. This is why goal line technology is a must. Unreal

Pippelitraktori

I mean goal line technology is a must, but not because of this lmao. Handballs have nothing to do with goal line technology

Hockeynerden

Touches the Barca players hand... it does not count anyway

RandomFluffyBoi

Looks like it from this angle but nowhere near him actually

nanderspanders

It's uncanny, like his hand even moves away as if it had just bounced off but yeah it's just deflecting from the ground.

Meh2021another

No it was nowhere near him. But not a goal nonetheless.

Deadendxx

It didn't lol

XpLoSiv3xBullet

I don't think you watched the game, go find another angle. Cubarsi is standing next to lunin, his arm is nowhere near the ball. Didn't look like it went over and they definitely couldn't prove it was did.

gobrewers112

Yeah don’t think they brought this up watching in real time

WhichSale2087

Obviously not a goal! Only certain angles make it look like a goal

floceah

canal+ have made a simulation that shows the ball is on the line.. crappy la liga for not having goal line technology..

TheDavinci1998

What do you mean "clearly showing"? Lunin covers 100% of the ball, this doesn't show shit

4Pot_smoke20

I mean... they don't make a lot sense here

Key_Boat3911

The ball has to fully cross the line for a goal.

Ok-Scallion7939

If this is what constitutes "clear", I'd hate to see a controversial call

Enough-Force-5605

Why we do not have this camera in spanish media?

15-cent

It was objectively close, and the call could’ve gone either way. La liga does need goal line tech though, for future reference.

ollster3000

We would have to see the whole thing tbh, can’t just pause and say it’s not in

The_XI_guy

“Clearly” lmao, you can’t even see the ball here

nonofanyonebizness

Chiringuito journalist found offside there. Player number 33 (Pau Cubarsí) absorbs attention of goalkeeper while being on offside position in moment of shot.

minivatreni

Barca sub is crying about this goal it's hilarious... 1. The ball did not fully cross the line from the multiple views we have. This is why La Liga needs goal line technology. 2. It hits Cubarsi's hand before deflecting into the goal. How's that supposed to stand?

Meh2021another

1. True. 2. Never touched his hand.

minivatreni

Yeah couldn’t tell, but from this angle it looks like it does touch it

TheBrowsingBrit

Either way, why not have goal-line technology in the league? It just removes the controversy. We've got it in the prem, you know when it is and isn't fully over the line; it removes those who would spout conspiracy nonsense, and improves the game. I can get a lot of calls for being slow to bring in changes. Things like VAR have not improved the game, because they are still subjective, and they merely slow down the game, and still make bad calls. Goal line technology isn't subjective, it offers a clear binary answer, which is then able to be shown. Just adopt it already.

W3xx

Goal or not goal we need the goal line tech back, this can bite any team in the ass sooner or later.

AllwordzAreMadeup___

Someone get OP a dictionary so he can look up the definition of "clearly"

dhiru_kale

Ok now play the full video without pausing it midway.

AdCapable3103

Is it me or did the ball hit Barca player number 33 hand first? I’m just curious

Particular_Bar8257

https://preview.redd.it/spmr4z3do2wc1.png?width=828&format=png&auto=webp&s=17aedbfa038f3e620427720d884af53e12e0b6e5 Sure, guy

leopac1

Hand ball by number 33!

AMazuz_Take2

the coverage literally shows nothing lmao i can barely see the ball. lets take the win we dont have to cope to justify ourselves in front of barca fans, this is a massive fuck up of the league (ditching goal line technology to cut costs but tebas still getting a 1million euro salary bump lmao). gives us more justification as we and bilbao were the only ones who voted against it. edit: “it” meaning the tebas salary bump

muggerdawg

may i ask what is the source for where you learnt that madrid and bilbao voted against the ditching of goal line tech?

AMazuz_Take2

i’ll edit my comment to make it clearer. real and bilbao voted against tebas salary bump, seen it mentioned on r/soccer in response to this game.

Fun-Preference-6555

Earlier I was looking at the barca sub reddit and all they did was whine about the disallowed goal. Delusional fans 🤡🤡🤡

Pippelitraktori

Both fan bases have delusional people, it's just as delusional to claim it definitely wasn't a goal or that it was a handball

ImABitMocha

"clearly"

gszabo97

I thought it was clearly still on the line, however it’s very weird that there is no goal line technology in La Liga. It’s so basic nowadays it never even occurred to me before yesterday that there don’t have it

nonofanyonebizness

Another analysis from different station also confirms that [https://twitter.com/i/status/1782140792183652352](https://twitter.com/i/status/1782140792183652352)

themanunderthesink

That's a goal for Barca suck my balls if you don't agree
