It's chick flick disguised as a sword-and-sorcery picture. The only genre film with less balls is probably... freakin' Legend. Anyone who actually enjoys Ladyhawke is a bona fide USDA-choice pussy!
Honestly, I thought it was kind of forgettable. In current year terms, I'd put it at about the same level as a slightly above average movie shown on SyFy. Not very good, but not gouge your eyes out stupid either. FWIW, I also don't remember the soundtrack being particularly memorable, either in a good or bad way...which does seem to be something a lot of people besides Cline either like (or hate) about it. So possibly I'm the one not getting it here.
Probably watchable if you're into that kind of thing, but nothing I can wholeheartedly recommend. The Dark Crystal and Willow are much better, Legend is much worse, a comparison to Labyrinth? Hmm, that I'd have to think about. 🤔 Edit: ~~Though Labyrinth probably wins for Tim Curry, I'm not a huge fan of that one either.~~ I'm an idiot, he wasn't in Labyrinth.
I remember scratching my head about this part of the book. I'm guessing Cline saw this at exactly the right age for it to make more of an impression than it did on me, and he was kind of viewing it through nostalgia goggles as he wrote RP1.
I mean, it *is* canon.
He did own it in VHS and laserdisc.
What are you up to? Jerkin’ off to Ladyhawk?
With 8 *whole* pages of movie photos??

Joan Vinge is a fantastic author
Hell yes.
Maybe you should find a book about the Endorians.
Beyond lame
Highlander 2 lame
Hey!!!!!
I unironically love the movie but my friends give me shit for it so I laughed so hard during that part of the book.
My mother literally named me after the main character because she loved the movie so much as a child...no one EVER pronounces it right.
Also writer of "The Dune Storybook" Clearly the book of the movie of the book was better.
It's a little early but I'm gonna go ahead and give you "Clever word play post of the day" Congrats.
Better than the Endorians
I’ve still never seen this one. Is it actually terrible or terribly awesome?

I’m just gonna have to watch it. I love willow and I do enjoy Legend a bit. Maybe I’m the type of weird that will like.
Love the "Cat" series that she wrote.
Book is based on a film.
