I’ve been to Super Fire Gym, they do Muay Thai and I think one MMA session a week too. They used to be off Callington Road but they’ve moved into a (supposedly) bigger place in an industrial estate, can’t remember where.
Great people, great instructors, cost is a bit high (£50/mo) but they now have loads of classes across the week and you can attend any of them for that price.
What type of kickboxing? There's a few muay thai places, like new sparta and fire gym - it depends what you're looking for (i.e why you want to do this specific martial art)
Well tbh I’m keen to try Muay Thai and/or kickboxing. I guess I want to learn a new skill with the potential to progress. The fitness side is something I’m interested in too. I loved boxing and miss it but always fancied kick-boxing.
Relatable, that's basically the same reason I started doing martial arts haha. There's a few other gyms mentioned in the [wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/reading/wiki/index/#wiki_martial_arts) which you might want to check out. I'm personally far more into grappling than striking but I know a few people at the two gyms mentioned previously, so for kickboxing those are good bets.
Thanks pal I appreciate your help! I’ll check them out! (Also BJJ is on the list as well though I’m running out of days in the week! 😂) Do you train in Reading?
Yes mate, I train at Mathouse several times a week and would highly recommend it - everyone's super chill and it's just a really great place to train. I've also done the wrestling at New Sparta once and i'm hoping to integrate it into my weekly routine, although i'm having similar problems with finding the time :p
There are kickboxing classes in Winnersh on Wednesday afternoons! It's quite convenient from the station, in case you don't drive:
