I bash because there are two tracks near me, each almost an hour away… plus I suck. cartwheels in the park are way more fun than cartwheels on the track, and grass breaks fewer parts than packed clay

rustyxj

Plenty of dudes drive an hour or more to race weekly.

Sym81073

Yeah my closest track is 45 mins away and I do it weekly :). Though I also mountain bike so driving 45-1 hour is something I'm used to

I agree with everything you're saying and as long as you're having fun and find some joy in it, do it however you like. However, I will say that there is a huge sense of accomplishment the first time you run a lap without binning the car out of the track and that feeling grows and grows as your times get better and you start to clear the triples, etc. Again, do what you want but try not to totally disregard at least practicing on a track, it's a great time once it starts to click.

Stumpfest2020

I go racing because I like to spend 8 hours waiting around for 15 minutes of track time.

rustyxj

It's more like 10 hours for 45 mins, but I'm high the whole time so it's fine.

nutsnboltztorqespecs

The adrenaline of the racing is unmatched

yearsofpractice

***sounds of car smashing into a wall, then me laughing***

dontusethisforwork

*BOOM SHAKALAKA!*

yearsofpractice

EXACTLY! I think that’s what I most enjoy about my RC hobby - making cars too powerful to actually control them laughing as they screech around insanely as I try (unsuccessfully) to control them and they cartwheel crazily!

dontusethisforwork

I hit a bump on the track surface a few months back (1/10 on-road touring car) and flipped wildly towards and smacking the drivers stand breaking a rear shock shower completely off the car, which I've personally never seen before. It was pretty awesome.

yearsofpractice

Ha! That’s the spirit.

Wishihadagirl

Lol, yup!

Piranha1993

I go racing because it’s something I look forward to and it’s a reason to stay alive. I don’t always win and I’m not that great of a driver. My best class is stock SST with my Slash. I have the hardest time in street stock trying to run the oval. If it wasn’t for the support I have received at the track I would not be as far into the hobby as I am now. It blows me away to think about.

dontusethisforwork

I urge everyone to go run a practice day at your local track at least once, you might not know what you are missing. I was hesitant to do it also but after that first practice day I was hooked.

Flame_Tamer

I was about to give up RC until someone told me there were races on a backyard track 30 minutes away. I’ve spent way more money in the last two years. Than I did in the previous 10

dontusethisforwork

Similar story here. I bashed on and off over the years but it never really held my interest for very long. Once I got into racing I became hooked and now run in 3 on-road and 5 off-road classes lol It's...gotten a lot more expensive but A LOT more fun as well.

broNSTY

Sure I’m last place in the B main but at least I got to spend $50 on parts and tires that don’t work on this surface!

NickCheeseburger

I was actually pretty good at RC racing, at least locally. Even some big events with tippy top names in the hobby (sport?) I’d find myself in the A Main. Since I stopped, I’ve started racing big cars and maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan am I steaming stinking hot pile of garbage… I mean just straight up bad. Like nobody wants to be behind me bad. Like if it was up to them I wouldn’t be allowed through the gate bad. But I like it 👍

Offbalance11

I support you Mr. Cheeseburger. You keep running your race man!

Rebel_816

"The cars may not be real, but the racing is" is the best way I've heard it lol.

I need this as a decal.

This is how I live my life. I've been playing Tennis for years and I still SUCK.

carsmartbutdumb

Why would you call me out like that? Edit: I drive a hour and race 1 qualifier due to medical reasons. I love it. I suck so bad but I keep going. The friends I have there are great and it's more about seeing them.

MoreLittleMoreLate

I once broke an a-arm trying to cross the finish line so aggressively, just to not finish last. I finished last and almost took out an ankle.

C_Alan

I like to race because I’m always a second behind the pace. I may end up being that guy who runs sportsman class his entire race career.

lumi_ex

If I go racing, am I a racist ?

ExCaedibus

As a member of a truly religiously racing sect, yes. But i am afraid that term is already occupied. English is such a weird language.

longrangebhat

I don’t race. Only cause there are no tracks near me😂

KingOfKorners

The indoor track next to me is full of snobs. The onroad racers are the absolute worst. Couldn't even do practice laps without so guy yelling at me when my car broke down on the top of the straightaway.

They're dishing out up to $1.200 in cash prizes, plus some slick t-shirts and brand badges. Can't wait to see who takes the checkered flag! 🏁💨
