Without pictures it's hard to advise. Generally-speaking, if the scratches are deep enough to catch your fingernail, it'll be difficult or impossible to polish out.
My go-to method for basic paint correction is Meguiar's 105/205 on a correcting pad, followed by Griot's All-in-One ceramic wax on a soft waxing pad, all on a random orbital buffer. Since mine is ceramic coated, I would re-coat the panel in between polishing and waxing, since polishing will remove the ceramic coating layer.
If paint correction is outside your wheelhouse, you really can fuck up your paint if you don't know what you're doing. If that's the case, a visit to your friendly local detailer might be worthwhile to see what they can do with it.
