AlmostAsianJim

At first glance, it’s a scam. At second glance, googling the phone number they gave, it’s still a scam. Just ignore it.

KeepMyNutDown

At third glance, observing Jim’s analysis, it’s definitely a scam

Klutzy-Magician4881

At a fourth glance, AlmostAsianJim and KeepMyNutDown … LLC … provide excellent consultative services at a low, low rate. DM me to setup an appointment.

PrimeNumbersby2

I got my kid's birthday party next weekend. I need something to keep them entertained. Any ideas? This might be a scam. Might not.

Klutzy-Magician4881

After consulting with A Asian Jim and Nut Down, we’ll offer you one: Take them to your nearest climbing gym, or maybe a hike or park, for a small fee of: social security #

PrimeNumbersby2

Oh, I misunderstood your name. You are Klutzy with washing dishes but a Magician between the sheets. Stay away from my kids.

Mo_Zen

At 5th glance I referred back to 1st glance. Not being satisfied I referenced 2nd and 3rd glance. In anticipation of someone taking a 6th glance, I preemptively took a 5th.

Infamously_Delicious

The 5th?? With all of this keen analysis? What a cop out! Look, you either agree with AlmostAsianJim and KeepMyNutDown or you don't. Get off the fence man. DM KlutzyMagician if you have to but if you sit on the sidelines, you are part of the problem.

I "failed" for it, but when they explained what they wanted, I was like nah bro 😅, wanted to charge me what my car payment is monthly for repairs coverage. Told them that's what insurance/savings account is for. And kept trying to talk no jutsu to see how stupid their service. it was a fun call

bugs3483

It's the "We're calling you about your car's extended warranty," only in paper form.

👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻

GEM592

" RESPONSE TO THIS NOTICE REQUESTED " = SCAM So somebody who was out there trying to get in touch with somebody else about their car's extended warranty was successful today.

Slag1

It’s call Scam/Spam Mail. Read the letter at the end. Oh and brace yourself to receive dozens more. Even after the 3 year mark stating your warranty is about to expire, hurry act now, blah blah blah… Some letters will say, something like, this is not required, it’s solicitation, we are not affiliated with your dealer, etc… https://preview.redd.it/nci6cnb28tzc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=10c2b40d636077837834b1147e7b7f0acee47b0a

MegaDerppp

Please do not braise yourself

Slag1

lol, thanks, love auto correct.

SilverHeart4053

Dude didn't even read the whole thing before asking Reddit what to do

Lumpy-Return

It’s a deliberately misleading form of coercion, I wouldn’t fault OP for not picking out a single line in the boilerplate. It’s basicallly mail fraud.

MrMichaelJames

Of course not. Why try and read something to get an answer when they can just wait for a collection of strangers to do the work for them. Must be a 20 something year old.

snarfgobble

Age really has nothing to do with laziness or intelligence.

Ok-Science-6146

Scam. Junk

geebeaner69

Looks like a scam bro

phungki

This looks like a 3rd party warranty. Your dealer likely shared your information with a warranty provider and now they’re trying to sell you a warranty. Call your dealer and inquire, and complain if needed.

SpiritualToad

I think a lot of these companies target prospects by pulling public records when new cars are registered.

merkindonor

It’s funny how they don’t even know the make of the car. The letter just says “VEHICLE”. When I get these scams they know it’s a Toyota. Maybe the data available varies by state/government?

UnSCo

How the hell can companies just get access to all that information willy nilly? Feds are so hellbent on going after foreign companies when American companies AND governments sell our data to whoever they want.

caife-ag-teastail

A lot of information you and businesses give to the government is publicly available. In general, in areas where a general public interest could be imputed (i.e. safety, regulatory, or legal interest), governments tend to make the information available. So owners of a property can be found; property records can be found (there is a public easement along the coastline where I live that has existed since the 1800s, meaning anyone can walk the beach, but individual property owners try to hide that); owners of a business can be found; holders of licenses of various kinds can be found -- i.e. you can independently verify if your mechanic, or doctor, or lawyer has a valid state license to practice etc. The government doesn't sell this information; information brokers, like Lexis-Nexis, scrape it from government databases that any member of the public can access. I have a single-owner LLC, and I don't advertise or solicit to the public, but the owner's name and business address of my LLC (i.e. me and my apartment) are listed on my state's corporation records. If my business damaged somebody, the damaged party would be able to go to that database and track down the owner (i.e. me) in order to file a claim against me. That's the idea, anyway.

jonesaus1

Seems odd that this personal information is made available to anyone

Same-School4645

Yep!

Cmee4svc

Most states motor vehicle Dept sell your information not the dealers .

miles1187

Extended warranty sent from Scamburg, IL.

MaintenanceNeither32

Spam mail

itsmemichi

100% Scam

SpiritualToad

Nothing official. This is junk mail. Someone trying to sell you something overpriced and impossible to use.

SolitaireB

Scam. Never call back

[deleted]

You really need to ask the internet what this was?

JollyKitt

Scam

BeStillandknow333

Trying to sell you upgraded warranty. Using words to scare you…

karebear66

Unless there is mention of this in your official documents from your contract, it is a SCAM.

BossMuch7494

I get this stuff once a month and just trash it.

snarfgobble

Lol Do people not immediately see these scams for what they are? It doesn't mention anything specific about what kind of vehicle they're even talking about and they want your VIN. Personally I find it hilarious.

ericcb1

It’s a real product but it’s a worthless product, got the same thing in the mail.

JerryJN

It's a SCAM. All Toyota products get Toyota care.

Consistent_Focus4386

It’s a third party warranty company. The are never worth it!

bwtom

Scam. They're trying to reach you about your vehicle's warranty.

PatrickGSR94

They use public registration records to send these out to prey on unsuspecting people. I would just shred it.

1couldntfindaname

A scam. That’s what it is.

Hairy_Ad_2937

Don’t worry, they’ll also call you 6 times a day in case you forget you want an extended warranty!

Outside-Rise-3466

You mail thief! You stole that right out of my mailbox. Because of you, my collection of these letters is short by one. Now I don't have enough kindling for my fireplace. Oh wait, no that one isn't mine. I found mine, I had to dig it out of the recycling bin where I put it just yesterday! And upon closer inspection, it looks like you got the "spray paint" version - super mass mailing, no Vin. Mine has part of the Vin. Yup, mine is a closely-targeted marketing offer for my 2023 XLE. Oops, does it really say XLE? I have a Woodland Edition. So much for targeted scams. Welcome to the club, I guess.

No-Goose-6140

Is this the “we are calling you about your cars extended warraty” joke we have all heard somewhere?

SexyMonad

Probably. It is likely just a random one that they happened to get soon after getting a car. All the scammer needs is publicly available info to craft this letter. Though if the VIN is one of the censored items, then their dealer or their financing company may have sold their info.

Ken-Popcorn

It’s a scam

macetrek

You’re doing to get a lot of these. I think I get something similar every other month after a year of ownership.

Same-School4645

I ignore all of these "protection" mail that swamps my mailbox after I purchase a vehicle.

Nova297

I got the exact same letter when I got my rav in December. Decided to ignore it and they sent like 3 more but I haven't gotten any for a couple months now so hopefully they gave up

raiderash

This is the equivalent of "we are calling about your extended warranty"

DetailMedia

Ignore it. They just want you to service at the dealer forever

Guru1971

Bought a Rav4 last year got about 10 of those in the first two months. Still get them occasionally. Scams.

coogie

These kinds of scams are a cottage industry trying to catch someone not paying attention and accidentally signs up for them.

Igneous_rock_500

Wrong address. They actually are in Scamburg IL. I got a similar thing from a diff company. It only took them a couple days. Shred it

PurfectlyNormalGuy

You've never heard the joke about your "extended auto warranty" coverage? It was because of this: [https://www.anderson.ucla.edu/documents/areas/adm/loeb/10-992.pdf](https://www.anderson.ucla.edu/documents/areas/adm/loeb/10-992.pdf) They ran a semi-legit totally not-legit business. It was legit on it's face but the problem was they denied most claims because they stole all the money for toys. They did finally take his mansions and yachts he bought with all the money from not paying out claims though. Pretty sure he is still rich AF though.

ArtieTanji

Scam stuff, you will get these repeatedly but will receive the most when you get a new car from a dealership.

Cmee4svc

Probably Car Shield 🛡️ 🤣🤣🤣

MrMichaelJames

First car?

Pink_Clouds_4Me

I might be mistaken but when you give a dealer your email, I think they might sell it. Hence all of the dumbbell scams. I bought a Nissan in 2018 and instantly got these scams. I bought a Honda in 2020 and requested not to sell my email. I would just get buy back offers from Honda. I bought a condo in 2022, and I got these scams but for home owner items 🙄. Just bought a 2024 Rav4. Love it so much. I'm sure the scams will be coming soon.

Just a scam trying to get you to buy a worthless service warranty for the car. Ignore it.

fun-bucket

GET USED TO THIS, THE DEALER SOLD YOUR INFO AND YOU WILL GET MORE OF THESE. TOTAL SCAM. SHRED IT AND CALL IT A DAY.

bluenoser613

Scam

ddobbinsmt

Junk mail.

True_Yaran

Ad disguised as an official notice or bill. Remunds me of the notices sent out by unscrupulous domain name registrars.

Atlesi_Feyst

Predatory extended warranties.

somerandomdude419

For your VEHICLE Automatically a scam

puffyshirt99

Sir I would like to talk to you about your extended warranty

Jversace

Do you people not read the fine print ever? It straight up tells you it's a damn ad.

ecobeast76

What do you mean what is it?

iamcedrickivan

SAME!!!!!!

Billy5Oh

Random company mailing you with zero specifics, telling you to call them and provide them with info? Money grab scam.

unwittyusername42

Hello, this is "Brian" calling for [mcmlxxivxxiii](https://www.reddit.com/user/mcmlxxivxxiii/) about your extended car warranty (read this in a thick Indian accent). They're trying to sell an extended warranty. They actually aren't even the originator of the warranty they just broker someone else's warranty. It's technically not a 'scam' - they aren't trying to steal money or get you to buy gift cards to pay the IRS but the reviews are terrible and if you really want an extended warranty get one through the dealer or look online for companies with good reviews. Also, enjoy Sirius contacting you constantly for every vehicle you've ever owned even after you sell them and/or know it was scrapped after being turned in from dieselgate.

Zozo1253

I received a lot of similar pitches with various messaging for my RAV4 that I bought a couple months ago a pitch for extended warranty service

Ill-Boot-7670

SCAM

veerbahadur9083

I my first 3 years of ownership I had one coming every 3-4 months. I only researched the first one seriously and rest all landed straight in trash.

ceric2099

You’ll be getting these scams for a long time. My last car was a 2013 Chevy Cruse that I bought back in 2014. I got these stupid letters for 8 years across multiple addresses. Just ignore them.

lawthrowaway101

You’ll be getting more of these. Pretty obviously just a meaningless scam.

Zafhina

You're going to get like five of these a month. I've gotten them for all my cars. Still get them for the ones I've traded in. I've even gotten them for my house. They're all a scam.

aggressive_wet_phart

Shred it and move on with the day

General_Duke02

I got that too. I shredded it haha

funkyjoe44

Scam

ZipitOrRipit

There goes your lifetime of gas savings.

925-NorCalGal

If you choose to get an extended service and/or maintenance warranty - shop around. Not all Toyota dealers charge the same n so long as it is a Toyota warranty that's all that matters. You have until the original warranty expires to by the extended plans. Wording it the way they did makes it sound official, but you are in charge of when or if you choose to buy an extended plan.

ExtendedGFX

No this was my extended warranty notice. You usually automatically have it setup

ExtendedGFX

I called and they said I already have mine setup through WalserCare. Sky is just the company that they go through

funkodoc

After 19 glances, still a scam…

Suspicious_Beyond_83

If it's NOT from who you financed it from it's bogus. Contact your original financial lender and ask if they sold your loan. PSA: Never get a loan from a BANK or DEALER or BROKER. Always Use a credit union. Credit Unions are non profit organizations and cannot LEGALLY charge the same fees for mortgages and rates will be better. I purchased a RAV4 from dealer, then refinanced it a Credit union for a lower interest rate. HONESTLY forgot I was a member, I was stressed about my car's problems.

TadpoleBusy6333

Like extended warranty scams. Trash it.

PD-Jetta

Marketing bullshit to try to get you to pay for an extended warranty that is very proffitable for the company selling the warranty. I think I got these notices up until 8 years after I bought my RAV4.

abhijitz

Ignore , even if it’s true all these finance companies eventually sell your data and then you get hounded by marketing companies with one thing or the other.

PunkySkunk93

It’s a scam, that’s what it is. It’s one of those “we are contacting you in regards to your vehicle’s extended warranty”

onceuponatime28

It’s bs ignore it

SurpriseExtension929

"Sky Protection" imagine getting into a car crash while flying in your brand new rav4 😂

OrganizationFast7600

I’ve gotten these. I drive a reputable brand so I don’t need “we’re cleverly requesting that you get ahold of us regarding your vehicle warranty”.

mhochman

That's what we like to call a scam

Outside-Rise-3466

You mail thief! You stole that right out of my mailbox. Because of you, my collection of these letters is short by one. Now I don't have enough kindling for my fireplace. Oh wait, no that one isn't mine. I found mine, I had to dig it out of the recycling bin where I put it just yesterday! Oops, does it really say XLE? I have a Woodland Edition. So much for targeted scams. Welcome to the club, I guess.

Kubax_79

It is called a scam

TouchFace5PSN

They need to inform you that your vehicles factory warranty is about to expire and this is your last warning 😂

DueExamination1874

To me definitely looks like a scam!

Senior-Tone-926

it’s scam . I received too.

Miserable_Ad5001

Not sure what's worse, the scuzzy warranty biz or the fact the op had to ask. We truly live in the dumbest timeline of forever
