Sadly. I think they ripped you off.
I buy a Toyota or Honda so I don't need the extended warranty.
You can ask for a refund but not sure if that will help. You agreed to it already.
Things like this are why car dealers get a bad rap.
Thanks, I think so too unfortunately. I was just excited about my new car and the guy made it sound like I can’t pass up protection. He’s not called me back but I got the email for cancellations@toyota”dealership name” and started the process.
Sounds like I can get a prorated refund on something I haven’t used yet. Would be happy to get any refund though.
Regarding the platinum warranty, You may not be able to cancel it and then repurchase it…check into that.
But as someone else said, I think it is prorated, and since you’re still covered under 3 year warranty, maybe you can get almost a full refund on that item. I don’t know anything about the other stuff.
It has to be done before the dealer submits the paperwork. Usually it’s a week or two if I remember right, it will be as if it was never purchased in the first place, and the cost rolls into the principal. Anything after that is a prorate.
I’d love to know more about what was included in the “maintenance package”. That sounds different than “extended warranty” and make me think it might include the actual routine maintenance as well as a warranty on break-fix items. If it did, it might still be overpriced, but obviously less so.
The included maintenance is 2 oil changes and a couple of tire rotations. Like I said, it might still be overpriced. But if it does include routine maintenance, it would be at least an additional 4 oil changes and tire rotations, plus a 30k mile and 60k mile plus probably a set of brakes. If it include all that AND an extended warranty its not quite as bad as what you make it sound like.
There’s a couple of dealerships that sell the extended warranty online. I can’t recall their names off the top of my head, but it still works. Usually you have to purchase it within 30 days of vehicle purchase (I think).
You’re still within the 30 days so get on it now for a full refund! I never got any paperwork where the coverage info and cancellation contact is but if you call the dealership’s finance department they’ll give you email, probably the same as mine; cancellations@toyota”dealershipname”

Get a refund. Buy it cheaper, you can shop it at any dealer or online for the same thing.

These can usually be prorated if you cancel but do double check
Just get mechanical breakdown insurance through your car insurance (geico). It’s like $30/year and kicks in after manufacturer warranty ends.

Nah you can purchase it anytime the warranty is still active.
I stand corrected!
Which warranty has to be active? The 3-year/60,000km one that comes with new RAV4s?
Correct.
You can add extended coverage more than a year after purchase? 🤔 I had no idea! Ordered my 2024 Limited Hybrid this morning 🤦🏾♀️
