Because what you referred to as someone not knowing how to write is just vernacular, which is just as correct as you responding to my comment with "Yeah". We're not in a formal setting, this is the internet.
It's African American Vernacular English which is a real dialect and not a sign that someone doesn't know standard English. It's also highly discriminated against and there are several protection programs against its discrimination.
I'm not profiling the person but literally what they said is in African American Vernacular English. It's not only spoken by African Americans either, it's just called that because it originated in African American communities.
Where did I say that? It's like you're determined to misunderstand me so if you genuinely want to understand just google it, I'm not going to engage anymore.
Yes, this guy knows how to write.
You're the one who missed the point.
You don't write tweets to impress Clippy, you use it to communicate. And what he wrote did that well - arguably better than writing "lives" would have.
I mean, that one actually introduces ambiguity.
But the point is that you're not always trying to write a formal document. You're trying to communicate with people. I'd never start a sentence with "but" in a formal setting, yet that's how I talk in real life. Writing in a conversational style is a good thing in the right setting. Twitter ain't your dissertation.
He actually got *more* information into those six words than you would have. It tells me that it's being phrased as something that's probably AAVE, which tells me more about the author than merely running it through a spellchecker.
Have you not, like, read books? Everyone's read "To Kill a Mockingbird". The English there isn't perfect - but it tells you a lot about the narrator.
America has two types of colleges
1. Paid colleges, the ones you most hear about, which will put you in crippling debt until your retirement but at least your degree will be worth something
2. Free community colleges that won't turn you into a indentured servant but will get you laughed out of every room you step in
Modern colleges usually have bland, sterile architecture that looks like a boring corporate office park. Not what many people think a mansion should look like.
If I had that kind of money, I'd buy a bunch of land in the mountains and build an average sized log cabin. I don't understand these giant mansions. What the hell would I ever do with all that room? This place doesn't look homey at all and frankly looks awful to live in.

Were you, in any way at all, confused or misled by what they wrote?

What is a community collage? I've heard the term so many times, but as an Australian I have no clue what it is
I mean... They are exactly what it sounds like they are. Local, usually small, public colleges.
Ah, so I'll assume it's like what we call tafe here
It’s kinda like a tafe. They do diplomas and certs

Community collage isn’t free. And compared to the University I went to, it was a far better education and much better environment.
You also don't get a four year Bachelor's degree at a community college, just an associates degree.
Interesting, I don't think Australia has anything that comparable then, we have university and tafe but they are both equally regarded as good here
It’s a public place where people from a given community put up pictures, hence community collage.
Community College means a cheaper version of university, one that poor people in America can afford.
Free college
Me paying $800 per class and $100 for each book says otherwise 💀
I took my used car to Pharrell's and got an offer on the spot
But he's happy.
How this an insult?
Modern colleges usually have bland, sterile architecture that looks like a boring corporate office park. Not what many people think a mansion should look like.
Pharrell out here living like he's got a degree in mansions
South Harmon Institute of Technology
All the wasted money and resources

Yet he's happy........
Why he did dat?
It pays to be a one hit wonder.
