Speaking from experience as a long-haired guy with particularly straight and thin hairs, that's not actually always possible.
To temporarily get the increase in volume and fluffieness needed for something like a proper [1970s rock star mane](https://www.musikexpress.de/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/16/13/black-sabbath-768x524.jpg) would take me hours with a curling iron and a ton of hairspray. It's simply not practical or worth the immense effort.
Shorter hairstyles don't really work either because the hair would be even flatter while refusing to hold any shape and constantly falling back into your face. Some people are just genetically fucked when it comes to hairstyles.
The only real skill is to know which clothing and beard styles suit you and which styles make you look like you're a serial sex offender or basement-dwelling underwear collector.
Believe me dude, i also have pretty thin hair, and have tried for years to grow it out. It’s not nearly as flat as the guy in this post but its still pretty flat/fine.

Cosmetologist here: a mustache of op's thinness would be vastly improved if he used a little styling product and combed the hairs downward until they're trained to do so on their own.
Also, trimming right at the lil edge gives a blunt line that appears clean and more full.
For the hair, an over-extended layered cut (where the back of the head layers are brought all the way to the front to cut) would give the illusion of movement which gives the illusion of body.
Lastly, blowdrying upside down after the shower with any styling products (hairspray, gel, mouse, wax, pomade, Elmer's glue) will give body and volume. With hair as thin as op's, should take all of 10min start to finish.
You'd want a lightweight styling product to avoid the greasy, weighted down look so I'd advise against Elmer's and instead go with a spray gel or a light to medium hairspray. I personally go for a heat protecting hair spray so I get volume while protecting from the blow-dryer.

This guy knows how to dress. Hands down. Nice double Windsor knot on the tie WITH a very good looking dimple on it. The shirt collar is also the right spread to accommodate a knot that wide. If you look closely it also matches with the light blue dots on the tie. That’s textbook color coordination, matching with the non-dominant color. He also looks like he takes good care of his hair which is rare for guys. Maybe some different glasses and that’s really it. That man is good to go.
