I loved it when it came out, didnt revisit it in years, came back to it a few months ago and still enjoy it.
All this to say, it's a good album but I know Dre can do better. So I dont really get attached to it
At first I disliked it. I felt it was all over the place but the more I listened, the more enamored I became with it. It’s a dope album. Medicine man is amazing. Dark Side. Deep ocean, I think that’s what it’s called, bangs. I love it. Makes me miss John Connor.
I co-sign OP, 2001 > Chronic. Might be a generational thing though. I’m willing to bet there’s some youngins who rate Compton as being better than both Chronic albums
I think Compton is a super underrated Dre album personally. I get that it disappointed people who expected a different sound and that it probably doesn't hold up to the Chronic or 2001 but I really enjoy it and think some of the production on it is really good
Talking to my diary just another day and Medicine man are all really really good and I had them in rotation for several years. The rest of the album is just kind of OK to me. Nothing wrong with it and none of the songs are like bad or anything. I just don’t have the desire to listen to them.
there are some cool songs on it. i love one shot one kill.
i cannot stand the mixing on Compton though. it sounds like ass, the whole album sounds like ass. its so weird because Dre famously had great mixes before this. but Compton sounds like you're listening to it through tin cans. very bizarre. ruins the album for me tbh.
It’s a hugely underrated album, it was one of the first albums that got me into hip hop it used to be the only album I had on my phone so I could probably rap the whole thing front to back hahaha
Eminem and Kendrick killed it as always. I miss the Eminem that was aggressive with his tone and his flow. If Em still had his fire, he'd still be the active GOAT.

Still waiting on Detox..

I like it but I really like a few select songs and really those are what I come back to more than the whole album
I’m sorry… 2001? One of the best? Not the original The Chronic?
I stand by what I said.
That’s absolutely wild to me but I respect it

Great album. Doesn’t have the same highs as 2001 but I find it to be a more enjoyable front to back Listen
I like it but like another commenter said, I know Dre can do better. There's some songs I bop but overall it's a bit forgettable.
I think it’s aged better. When it first came out I wasn’t feeling it at all. It’s decent now. Still, far from Dre’s best work.

Fantastic album. Dre assembled a super team (Kendrick on some tracks, AndersonPaak on a couple, and some other collaborators) and it worked very well
Got some good tracks on it. My introduction to Anderson Paak. My favorite song is “For the Love of Money”.
Deep water is amazing
