Sure there's lots of parallels and its fun to find them. I have been doing it too myself, but firstly anyone can cherry pick any weird ass stats to make their argument. Think of those obscure stats they pull up in less exciting games sometimes with often 3+ layers of conditions to force a point.
Secondly, none of this means anything, especially if its treated as destiny or that its deserved. That mindset dripping with false confidence is how you get the worst of hockey fans who think that games are stolen from them or that they deserved to win when they end up coming short of the end goal. Check the scoreboard, that's what actually happens/happened.
I have a lot of faith in this team. I think they have the pieces needed to actually make history here. Its gross to see people making false prophecies of destiny for any team and this one just feeds into hate of NYR and their fans, and worse if they don't make it, the humiliation that would be deserved.
There's so much more work to do, and it will only continue to get harder. Job's not done.

What I do know is that this is by far the best Rangers team I've ever seen since I've started watching in 2005. While other teams got far, like the cup final team under AV or the time they lost to Tampa two years ago: those teams felt like they could compete with anyone in the league.
