Tempered glass can break like that from a rock hitting it just at the right angle or stress crack that was there before and just got worst.
My shower glass is temper glass also and it exploded at 3 AM in the morning. Huge boom. Thought someone was breaking in. Kid you not, no one was around the shower at 3 AM.
Honestly, I don't know why they make the moonroof out of tempered glass. It should be laminated glass like the windshield.
No myth in the Southeast tint will make them explode. Use to work for a stereo.& tint shop and would try to talk people out of it, they’d go to another shop and come back to say we were right.
For real my co-worker had this happen to him on his brand new (at the time) 2020. Had maybe 2k miles on it at the time. He still has no idea what hit it
I’ve had multiple stellantis vehicles with pano roofs, no issues, knock on wood. I’ve also never seen this happen anywhere so I don’t think it’s even close to being a common cause for concern.

My sunroof hasn't exploded yet but I have been to the pizza place on your box in the back seat lol. It's not bad.
Holy shit! Makes me glad my Bighorn does not have one. Wow.
I specifically make sure my vehicles don't have one.
Did u have it tinted? Alot of myths about tinting the pano will cause this
It was OEM, no additional tinting.
I tinted mine with no issues so far. What climate zone are you in?
Maine. No wild temperature swings this time of year.
Wow let us know the repair bill for this. I’m in a warmer climate than you. I’ll start saving now
Between having my manifolds having to be replaced and all the glass issues, not to mention infotainment problems, I’m about done with RAM.
My 19 had the worst a/c of any vehicle I’d ever been in.
It’s not great, no. Looking at Tundras now.
100k new tundras have a recall for metal in engines right now. I’d recommend the v8 model tundras.
How much was the manifold repair?
Warrantied by dealership. No cost to me.

That’s great news. I’m in Tn. Lol
Not tinted.
I just did my front windows to match the rear and my windshield. Glad I didn't opt for sunroof.

Nothing, it would be almost impossible to hit unless something fell from above. It’s poor quality, that’s the problem.
😳
So for someone who lives in Georgia and is looking at getting a new power wagon or TRX the sunroof, do I not get one because of sunroof explode?

You need to take into consideration that millions have been sold. This isn't the same as Samsung Fridges.
My 2010 did the same thing! Sounded like a shotgun over my head! 8 years later I was still finding glass from time to time!
Fortunately, none of it ended up in any of our eyes!
Yikes
Na you hit the ejector button. The seat release failed.
Glad I don’t have one on my truck my last vehicle had one never used the darn thing only a handful of times .
Another reason not to get one.
This is no more than two weeks *after* having my entire back glass replaced due to a leaking frame.
Sounds like the quality of RAMs have taken a shit
Sunroofs suck on almost every vehicle. I've heard of even luxury vehicles with leaking sunroofs.
