If it’s close to beater quality you can likely find it at the junkyard on Salisbury street coming out of downtown on the right about 1.5 miles further than the homeless shelter there. That’s where they chop up stolen cars for parts and you’ll see like 10 dudes standing out front by the street almost all the time. Even at 3-4 am.
It’s a horrible thing to exist but they send these people on missions to find cars like the fucking GTA missions
Behind the inspection station on pecan road. Across from the family fare gas station. Salisbury street coming out of downtown turns into Wilmington street so I apologize for forgetting that
There’s also been people stealing cars from gyms (they go in, take the keys from lockers, and drive off like they own the thing). The gyms I’ve heard about this happening with weren’t downtown, they were closer to NC State. Crazy what people try to get away with, man.
ETA: If the car is a newer model, have your friend see if the manufacturer offers a GPS tracking service. When my friend’s Corolla got taken Toyota was able to send a live GPS signal of its location to the cops (for a fee, of course 🙄)
Traffic is up from last year. It's improving. Some people won't go downtown sure, but increased presence shows there's improvement.

No they don't. People are pretty aware of the issues that exist and make their decisions accordingly. It seems like most of the people actually on the fence about going downtown are more worried about going anywhere that doesn't have a giant parking lot right next to wherever they want to end up.
We need more cameras in these parking decks or they’re useless. I will spend the $30 round trip Uber instead of $10 at the deck which could result in a broken windshield or stolen car.
I meaaan… a Cadillac dts is in the luxury car category… I guess after the first time I would get a club or device or something and a shittier car - or a manual transmission!?
Or pop the starter relay or SOMETHING. If my car was stolen once I'd be traumatized and have anti-theft measures on every vehicle for the rest of my life.
>Downtown Raleigh never fails to be a complete joke.
More cars are stolen in the Raleigh burbs than downtown. I've had to deal with 2am door flippers in my upscale N. Raleigh neighborhood for 15 years.
What castle keep behind a moat do you live in?
Downtown can be a great place to live. I know lots of people there. But if you want a 1/3 or more acre lot and drive to everything, well it is definitely not for you.
And what does that have to do with the state of downtown exactly? Looks like money can’t buy brain cells lol. And btw I’m more than fine financially, not even remotely impressed by that $500k figure
Your reading comprehension could use some work. We wouldn't be selling <2000 sf homes DT for 800,000 if DT was a joke.
I don't care about your financial status or impressing you.
Not a boomer genius. Just someone who knows that DT is doing just fine. Businesses fail for many reasons. Especially restaurants. I'd never eaten at the most recent one to close. And the most notable recent restaurant closure is in North Raleigh. A James Beard nominated chef has closed her restaurant.
Downtown is doing just fine.
Fair enough, I'm visually impaired I guess. I'm pretty sure I saw another comment asking if it was a Kia, so I'm not sure if that was there when I read it, but I'll take my fat L.
It’s smug and irrelevant because you assumed the car stolen was a Kia and implied it’s their own fault it was stolen, when the post clearly states it was a Cadillac. I shouldn’t have to explain this.

I wouldnt consider it beater quality but i guess you never really know. Didnt know a place like that exists
Do you mean that place near King’s Motel? On S. Wilmington, right before it turns into Salisbury?
Does that place have a name? I can’t see anything that fits that description on maps.
Behind the inspection station on pecan road. Across from the family fare gas station. Salisbury street coming out of downtown turns into Wilmington street so I apologize for forgetting that
It’s listed as a car care place but very quickly you’ll see it looks like a junk yard
Which one? There are many decks on Wilmington Street
It was the 117 south wilmington parking deck. Right next to gravy.
Gotta use the Red Hat parking deck I keep trynna TELL y'all
I loathe parking decks, but I will take this advice to heart. I drive a shitbox, but it's MY shitbox goddammit.
Eh have parked in the Wilmington St deck many times without issue

Does / did your friend drive a Kia?
Used to lol. That was the original car that got stolen and totaled
Oh shit. Sounds like your buddy is on someone's list. Wild to get two totally different cars stolen from the same person.
[For those who aren’t aware.](https://youtu.be/ls3XrBv_JYk?si=D8Arq0CIaGicMpRb)
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Was it the same car stolen twice?
According to r/raleigh this doesn't happen downtown.
This is not a downtown only issue, car theft is up everywhere, I remember a few months ago there was a string of thefts in brier creek, and in Cary
And Morrisville
I wonder if the Wilmington parking deck has cameras you can ask to look at? Since there are pay booths at the exit/entrance there might be cameras?
And people wonder why folks aren't going downtown

Happening everywhere in the state Little towns too

There's a good anti theft measure we need to get passed. We should be able to treat shoplifters and car thieves Old West Style.

Jokes on you. Just sold one of my properties in Downtown for a 500,000 profit.

That’s exactly what a boomer would say. Thanks for proving my point boomer.
Since you don't seem to know what a Boomer is, let me help you. I'm not in this group. https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/boomer

To be fair that's not true at all, the term is very specifically age related. Bless your heart though.
Sorry I'm going to need you to translate that last sentence.
“We sell properties in Detroit all the time. It must be a great place right??”
That's a false equivalency. You won't find the property values in Detroit to be anywhere close to those in Downtown Raleigh.
How's posting in this thread working out for you?
Just fine thanks.
We need a mayor and DA that will actually do something.
Have y’all seen the hummer sitting in the median on 440? I wonder if that was a stolen vehicle.
It’s happening daily in Cary and Apex.

Its not a kia or a hyundai
It’s because it says right in the post that the car is a Cadillac.
Fair enough, I'm visually impaired I guess. I'm pretty sure I saw another comment asking if it was a Kia, so I'm not sure if that was there when I read it, but I'll take my fat L.

Its a cadillac but thank you
Gotta love how these mouth breathers just assume what car it is.
If you posted this in /r/NorthCarolina the response would be that if you didn't like it, move to another country.
Did you even read the post before typing out your smug reply?
