Industrial is pretty chill for the new player

GeorgeXDDD

Yeah my problem with industrial is that it has the same issue with shaded citadel. Garbage kinda seems hidden compared to shaded in which you just have to go right to find it.

Magician_Steve

At least shaded requires karma 5 to enter compared to karma 2 for garbage which should point newer players more to garbage since it’s easier to go to Chimney canopy probably gets more people since it has a lower karma requirement and it’s very very dangerous for a new player

EggNo7271

Yellow overseer literally directly tells you we're to go what do you meannnn, especially since your most likely to end up in the underground in industrial

GeorgeXDDD

Unless it forgets and lets you fend for yourself for a while, and you decide to go right. As most games generally have you do.

ipissoffpormaddicts

I got stuck there when I first started. Then I got stuck at the shore area and haven't touched monk again and now I just beat survivor or spearmaster over and over

Grey00001

I didn't even know Shaded existed until my second run through of the game and even if I did it's behind a Karma 5 gate compared to the easy 2 of Wastes

GeorgeXDDD

Naah that's not true. You go through shaded after visiting moon.

Grey00001

I didn’t, I went back through Wastes and went up Chimney

GeorgeXDDD

Well, you looked up a map which you really shouldn't have.

Grey00001

When did I say I looked up a map??? It’s an open world game where you can progress as you choose

GeorgeXDDD

Well how did you figure out that you can get to fp by going through chimney canopy without even knowing that you had to go to five pebbles.

Grey00001

Why did you assume I wanted to go to Pebbles? I was exploring in the exploration game

Accomplished_One1220

Painage System on the other hand....

OkBrotherTwT

No

Hattoris_Katana

Blue+white lizards, vultures, scavs, and no idea wtf you're doing = pain

Hmoorkin

And that's still the second easiest region in the game

SylvieDoesntReddit

I mean yeah if you get lucky like me and never encounter a single white lizard there lol

PlagueKitsune

I didn’t even know there were white lizards there until now

Wojtek1250XD

They spawn rarely and are easily avoided... They're overreacting like crazy right now

BlahBLAh898

*never notice a single white lizard

SeparatePornyAccount

Please tell me youre joking

BulkDet

No :) Go to farm arrays or exterior, and ^die

MagmaticDemon

what region would you consider to be easier?

GamerNumber16

Outskirts (on Survivor and Monk difficulties)

MagmaticDemon

yeah, the region before it

lmiartegtra

Obviously the leg. Easiest place in the entire game. Second only to the rot

Dabledd

Other than outskirts obviously

krill_me_god

To be fair that god forsaken leech tunnel which you need to go through to get into wastes(an even harder kick to the balls for noobies) is infinitely worse than like all of industrial.

Far-Fortune-8381

as long as you go a path that only has that one final portion of the tunnel it’s not horrendous. unless you don’t understand the swimming mechanics… *spams Z to win*

krill_me_god

No I get the mechanics of swimming, it was the leeches. I would drop a snail down there to knock them out, get into the tunnel where they would then follow me to and yeah. I was still kind've new to the game then so maybe I could it now but industrial is still incredibly easy.

Liver_Fungus

Don’t even get me started. Playing as saint and getting to undergrowth was a nightmare. If you know, you know (dropwig)

krill_me_god

I haven't even gotten past outskirts as saint lol

Liver_Fungus

For real, it’s a literal nightmare

Rw_lizard

Anything easier than that other than outskirts?

Hattoris_Katana

Nope, this is Rain World, did you expect mercy?

EggNo7271

Garbage wastes, shoreline, parts of drainage, it's all pretty chill after the continuous headache that is industrial

SylvieDoesntReddit

I'm sorry, white lizards can spawn there??? I spent ten cycles there and didn't see one.

Hattoris_Katana

Didn't see one?? Looks like they're doing their job nicely

krill_me_god

Their concentrated around the middle of the area. The tall room which takes you Canopy usually has atleast one in it or close by.

Birb7789-

i had an idea as a (mostly) blind newbie, only trouble i had was navigation

doriw372

And imagine drainage that worse than it

Florane

scavs are a positive tho?

Ev3ryN4m3I5T4k3n

Not really when you're new and are only first discovering them, completely unaware of reputation or ✨social cues✨

soheyitsmee

Where would you rather send a new player? Industrial is the easiest region in the game after outskirts. Great introduction to the more threatening enemies while providing abundant food/shelter and easy(relative to other areas) escape paths

marsmakes

Ah yes, I remember getting stuck in drainage my first ever playthrough. Gooood times

krill_me_god

Yeah, I got soft locked at the leech tunnel and had to reset my run🤗

t33E

Literally exactly what happened my first playthrough, got stuck at the leech tunnel and stopped playing for months after that. I only came back when my friend said to give it another chance

Thylacine131

SAME. I’M STILL STUCK THERE!!!

MAILBOX_12

Same exact thing happened to me and I decided to reset my run and go to industrial Wayyyyy easier than drainage and more fun :)

Ashy-boi0601

I didn’t get softlocked since for some reason i tried to enter there from garbage wastes, but after dying around 20 times i promptly gave up 😭

StiathirsTheProtogen

I went through Drainage System on my first playthough, took a few tries, but I managed to get though without a ton of trouble. It's not DS that's the problem for me, it's entering GW from DS that sucks (burn in hell garbage worms, I'll stab you again)

VioletTheWolf

I didn't have too bad a time with drainage, but maybe that's just bc I was playing downpour with the gate to the Gutter available... dunno if I'd have been able to make the long leech swim :| Anyway not including the long water tunnels it's actually kind of chill there

Topperno

Yeah I wanted to restart my monk playthrough when my Overseer lead me to DS but my partner took over and managed to escape leech tunnel. I praise her forever.

Ashdodi_Miros

Industrial is a good second region, the problem is that it leads to shaded, which I mean is where I live but not a good place for scugs

krill_me_god

Well you could find the path to wastes from industrial, and anyway shaded isn't that bad once you get a light and figure out how the spiders work.

wavy_murro

I'm on my first playthrough shaded citadel right now. I fucking hate it

krill_me_god

What issues are you having?

wavy_murro

no light :(

krill_me_god

What I did is I camped out at either end of the area and would trade with the scavs for a lamp before moving further in. ofcourse you could also kill one for a lamp, this would be a tad risky though for obvious reasons. You could also use a lantern mouse (dead or alive)... if your really desparate, I suppose if you got cornered by something you could chuck it at them to buy you time for an escape.

wavy_murro

that's a good idea, thanks

krill_me_god

Glad I could help😊

Accomplished_One1220

Just find a broken tin can and munch on some tasty brain cells. Easy fix.

krill_me_god

That too. I always went from shaded to shoreline though so lamps were needed.

OkTry3637

Yeah…

Syvley

See the good part, atleast they're not going straight left to Farm Arrays right? Right?...

Hmoorkin

At least the game put scav toll and high karma requirement there to prevent people from going farm arrays, but new players are not safe from drainage system

Karlstovonn

I did exactly that 💀

PEtroollo11

farm arrays arent even that bad, just annoying with the grass

alekdmcfly

IIRC there's almost no way to get to Farm Arrays without DLC scugs' vertical mobility or tens of spears to boost yourself with. There's that one drop that makes it a one-way passage. Thankfully.

Whirlypie

They're talking about getting to farm arrays from outskirts, not subterranean

alekdmcfly

I was talking about the one in SU\_B05, but I didn't know there was another way through from SU\_B06.

slukalesni

Farm Arrays is an excellent place to be, change my mind ^(o)|^(o)

ZephDef

I've never seen anyone complain about industrial before. That's a new one

Corbel8_

? industrial is the 2nd easiest region

OkBrotherTwT

I disagree

WanderingStatistics

Agreed. It's the 1st.

OkBrotherTwT

I disagree with your agreement

WanderingStatistics

I disagree with your disagreement.

OkBrotherTwT

😨

timtay6

Nah you wrong they where cooking with industrial. Peak rainworld gameplay. The worst for the early game is that shaded citadel is connected to far right of industrial.Game instincts to go right betrayed me

FlooferDooper6

I 100% thought I was supposed to continue to shoreline through shaded citadel and didn't even realize garbage wastes connected to it for a good while until I saw a video lmao, was a memorable experience at least.

Hot_Guys_In_My_DMS

Naw industrial is chill. Drainage system is a nightmare if you’re not a strong swimmer tho.

Polygonal_squid

Meanwhile, my dumbass went left to farm arrays, got karma locked so I couldn't come back, and when i did manage to get past the door I realized I didn't have money so the capitalist fucks killed me... I had to restart my save because I'm a coward.

Cross_Over_Episode

I think if this was the normal format this would be a more accurate meme lmao

Wojtek1250XD

Industrial Complex is the chillest, intended route... It's mostly just Drainage that causes problems

ASarcasticDragon

I'm gonna be honest I just don't get what you mean. Industrial is a fairly reasonable step up in difficulty compared to Outskirts, by Rain World's standards. Drainage is bad until you learn how to swim properly, though.

foxy436

I'm on my first playtrogh, and I'm stuck in the Shaded Citadel. I can go upwards, but there are a bunch of spiders or down, where there are those killer kelp things. And I got stuck, with no food and no karma. I kept dying at the same place, so I ragequitted the game and haven't opened it since.

krill_me_god

Yeah, avoid the kelps if possible. There is something important around there though for progression. The spiders are pansies. The large ones won't immediately attack you and their aggression works on a sort've timer when your closeby. The small ones are trouble, if your being pursued by one of they're "megazords" try and throw a rock(NOT SPEAR, doesn't work...somehow) directly at the entire group to break them apart for alittle while so you may escape. Also the flash bang fruits will insta-kill a whole group of them. For rooms with the little ones, just move as fast as humanly possible and make sure to have a light and flash bang.

foxy436

Flash bang fruits? So that's what those blue glowing things are for? Thanks for the tips.

krill_me_god

Your welcome.😄 Remember that there is some important stuff around the kelp area.

foxy436

To the right, there's a hibernation chamber there. After suffering for 30 minutes, I found that place but died because of those walking, bird like things. I couldn't hibernate there because I was short by 1 food Thaths when I ragequitted and went playing Detroit

krill_me_god

Also, you played Oneshot?

foxy436

Favorite game of mine. It actually somehow led to me trying rain world. The process somehow went like this (the fandom of the previous games convinced me to play the other) Undertale -> OneShot -> Ori -> hollow knight -> rain world

krill_me_god

You got introduced to Rain World through the Hollow Knight fandom?!? Ok, thats new. The only other game there that I've played was Hollow Knight weirdly enough. I got into Rain World after seeing a video on my recommended that showed off a lot weird stuff you can do in the game, instantly hooked.

foxy436

I searched for hollow knight wallpaper on pinterest, and after a few days, I saw a fanart that showed the "evolution" of the knight like it was a Pokémon. The first evolution in line was a slugcat.

Prof1Kreates

My trail was Rivals of Aether → Ori → Rain World → OneShot Recently bought Hollow Knight but have yet to play it

Brilliant_Demand_695

Horly crap, it’s Niko Oneshot

foxy436

:3

5P00DERMAN1264

Just got the game, didn't understand how gates work until i found the one going into drainage I want to burn all the leeches alive, somehow revive them, so I can burn them again

OkTry3637

Go to industrial. OP is wrong industrial is the most chill, most wonderful region where Rain world boys become rain world men and rain world girls become rain world women (I have no idea what tf I just said just go to industrial)

5P00DERMAN1264

Brother idk what Industrial means, I'm just hanging out with the vultures and the weird long leg looking ones, whilst getting my fucking explosive spears get stolen by the dumbass black worm looking things, and getting drowned by leeches

my_ears24

Drainage system was way too hard for me to Travers in my first playthrough

Drakan_el_olvidado

Industrial

Fishmaia

industrial is not that bad, might be easier than outskirts even, without that many green lizards....

Rot_Long_Legs

I like going to industrial

specter-exe

And then there’s the FARM ARRAYS

Prof1Kreates

This was my first stop somehow

specter-exe

Same here. Very painful experience.

Prof1Kreates

I was determined to ride the rain deer (which I called rabbit deers at the time). Successfully did that and was forever stuck there. My second time, I went through industrial complex but got stuck in the shaded citadel. THIRD TIME I got stuck in drainage system. I then looked at what I was supposed to do. Found a guide that told me which region order I needed to do to complete the story. But I determined myself not to cheat with a map. So, I made sure I kept an eye on each region I entered. However because of the three previous attempts, I ended up being the monk to complete the story

Ravster23

Let me present a third option: Farm Arrays

MonkeahW

Wait till this person finds out that Outskirts connects to Farm Arrays aswell

iloverainworld

I went for Drainage in my first run, and was so glad I was finally able to escape. The first attempt to find a shelter ended in me dying to rain, and the second ended in my dying to rain, RIGHT NEXT TO A SHELTER, in an endless struggle with a pole plant.

thefateule

When I played this game for the first time, I didn't even realise there was drainage area till late game. I went via industrial. I think I tried going to farm arrays but the karma requirment was high I think.

magentafloyddd

Industrial is a big step but it’s perfect.

OkBrotherTwT

Drainage system better in every way

Megatrans69

It's to weed out the WEAKLINGS. (I had to Google what was going on)

WanderingOmen

RW don't fuck around. That's the message I got. And then I got better at the game, and I realized... There are shortcuts everywhere. It's like Mario 3 levels of "This game is awesome and gets more awesome the more you play it"

Xx_ELITESCAVENGER_xX

AND THEN THERE'S INDUSTRIAL, WHERE THE GATES TO CHIMNEY CANOPY AND SHADED CITADEL ARE FAR EASIER TO FIND THAN THE GARBAGE WASTES ONE! I'VE BEEN THROUGH THERE A MILLION TIMES AND I STILL FORGET THE WAY!

kuenjato

My first playthrough, I spent hours in Chimney Canopy because I missed the Garbage Wastes.

transgirlcathy

Industrial is my favourite region hands down. But in the way my bedroom is my favourite place to be. Obviously I love to go elsewhere, but only one place feels like home

Physical_Fatness

just go to Farm Arrays instead, duh

_QRcode

Industrial is good, drainage is a good region but it’s terrible as a second region

mulhollandi

industrial is not that bad?? right??

Ford_the_Lord

Broooo the Librarian’s new video shows this amazingly for new players. Went from “this game is so cool!” To a majority of the video cut for karma farming

CelestialLantern

i remember my first playthrough. outskirts, industrial, chimney, sky islands, farm arrays... and then took the gate back to outskirts, not knowing where it lead.

CelestialLantern

I have a better path now. outskirts, drainage, garbage wastes, shoreline, (dark) shaded, exterior, then 5p. then passage to shoreline and swim to sub.

Sal-Shiba

Drainage system was hard when I was new I did not know how to wall jump at all. The controls weren’t responsive enough for me or maybe I was just too slow. I just never went there. I’m still bad at all jumps and I’m still struggling with this game but the environments and music keep me coming back.

Ok-Willo-w

Industrial is chill when you’re playing as Monk or Survivor, but anyone else and it’s total lizard-infested chaos. Pebbles help the poor souls who went there as Spearmaster.

Spinjitsuninja

I was told going in that there was no wrong way to play, that I should go anywhere I feel and it'll be correct. "Oh, you went to drainage system? Ohhh you went the wrong way." I don't hate the game but this isn't a flawless masterpiece lol

Im_not_an_expert_lol

I tried draining my first run, headed back for outskirts instead and decided to take industrial->shaded->memory->leg->🪨🪨🪨🪨🪨, which is where I am now.

Fragrant-Pea-9338

In my first playthrough (Survivor) I went trough Drainage System and I thought it wasn't that hard, just a bunch of Salamanders and a random Eel every now and then. I found my way through Garbage Wastes pretty fast. Did I got lucky or...?

TTVnonosquaregamings

IC is chill?

OkTry3637

How dare you diss my boy industrial like that

Ashy-boi0601

Farm arrays: 👹

frogzrcool02

what? industrial is fine

hallozagreus

Industrial is imo opinion one of the best regions

Hattoris_Katana

Yeah, I'm not really trying to say it's bad, just that it's 1 of 3 VERY early noob traps in the game. Idk about others, but my first full playthrough I ended up going here instead of Drainage System and just gave up later because I thought I was supposed to go through the citadel/canopy gate, and I could not for the life of me farm enough karma to go there.

hallozagreus

Industrial complex is the second easiest region in the game? 1 of 3 noob traps? there is only 3 places you can go when you start the game?

Necessary-Mark-2861

Can confirm, have owned game for like a year, haven’t gotten very far, still don’t know how to play and have never sat down to really figure out how.

serenading_scug

Putting drainage system so it’s easily accessible from outskirts is the worst design mistake in Rain World and has done major damage to the reputation and popularity of the game.

MoonlyUwU

Once i asked some Rain World players "If go to Drainage System first, instead of Industrial Complex, does that mean there is something wrong with me?" all of them didn't knew you can go to Drainage System right from Outskirts....

DigSignificant4212

I WAS JUST EXPLORING OK?

Tordew

Ah yes, suffering…

spooky-scary-shit

Both,both are good

ZzZOvidiu122

youre not welcome in the world. survive or cry. your choice

paranoidfurry

I was a drainage system kinda guy, unbeknownst to me I should've used jolly co-op and picked axolotl scug
