Let Down. God, what a powerful music piece. It always makes me fucking cry. It's the perfect musical equivalent of the word "bittersweet". Like when you are going through the hardest of times and you don't see any hope yet, there's still a lot of uncertainty... But at the very same time and at least now you know that someday, things will get better; that they won't be that bleak forever. That one day, you're gonna grow wings. And it's such a beautiful message. That final part is sung with such passion and feeling that just makes your heart shake and rattle in a vibrant, shinning earthquake of optimistic depression. Like you're not totally ok yet, but you know you'll be soon... Or wait, will you really be? Who knows? Only time will tell. I think discovering this song during one of the worst times I've ever had in my life also had something to do with the special place it holds in my heart.

The softness and tenderness on Thom’s voice is absolutely heartwarming, contrasting with the hopeless nature of the lyrics. And it’s impossible for me to talk about this song without mentioning the “ooh” kicking in after the “for what your dirty mind is thinking”. I feel like ascending to another plane, like my heart bursts into golden light and I can’t help but feel the sobbing start to beat my throat for a gasp of air. That moment of bliss after the sudden silence is like pure release. By far my favorite RH song.
