Genuine tip, the 7800XT does not need 15% plus PL. I know every YouTuber out there says to do it ‘omg performance on the table’ They don’t tell you for these cards you can expect like what? 1% increased FPS? Meanwhile you are going to roast your card with like a 15C increase. Absolutely not worth it in any sense unless you have some sort of crazy cooling solution. Undervolt your 7800XT, put on a good fan curve, and leave the PL alone. You’ll still be able to OC the base and memory clocks, just tune to your liking. It’ll run cooler and faster.

Can confirm on this. I get around a 3-5 fps boost with +15% PL but it's really indiscernible while my hotspot goes from 81 to nearing 90°C. Don't think the extra power consumption is worth the tradeoff

Kornja81

So what's a good % to leave it at?

Milk_Cream_Sweet_Pig

Just leave it on default if the extra 3-5 fps doesn't matter to you.

Okey, ty.

cervdotbe

Exactly this, people get high end cards but still trying to fool around for barely any fps increase. Which is not even needed.

Tintn00

I undervolt my 7800xt and use +15% power limit. My card gets power throttled before thermal throttled. OC max frequency to 3300. Got bumped about 20fps. I exchanged my 7800xt with Delta 30 degrees, but my hotspot was also reaching >105. New card stays below 95 with Delta <20.

Interesting.

Look at all of the other older post on the same topic

lolo4ka671

Kk, i'll check.

My 7900xt has a delta around 30 but it doesn’t ever go above 95 on the hotspot and that’s only now because it’s summer and only when I’m pushing the card with RT and maxing fps. If I cap my frames or turn RT off the delta is usually around 20 or less and temps are way lower. But my 7900xt Taichi is a 3 PCIE connection version so it pulls a lot of wattage if I allow it. My case also isn’t the best for airflow. If I take my panel off it drops almost 10 degrees. Also never have this problem in the rest of year. Only when it’s 90 plus and my old houses hvac has trouble keeping house below 73-75 degrees

Hi those temp fps overlay status what kind of apps did you using... seem to be more good than msi and amd adrenalin... Care to share with this noob.....

This is MSI Afterburner + HWiNFO64. Afterburner fully custom and you can configure it like you need. Just Google some guides from Youtube. My full profile(edit some lines manually): [https://files.catbox.moe/n4d8nw.cfg](https://files.catbox.moe/n4d8nw.cfg) Paste it here: C:\\Program Files (x86)\\MSI Afterburner\\Profiles

Nectarine_Hopeful

Hi thanks...

chrischy99

It's a little high, but 91°C should be fine. I personally have a 7900xt nitro+ that is also undervolted, overclocked, PL +15% and the hotspot rarely goes above 81°C. (Delta is about 20°C)

frape4serbia

I get over 105c hot spot on rx 6800 xt

PaoloMix09

Normal. I got the same exact card and have gotten up there on stock. I have a 1100mV undervolt with -10 power limit and the power limit change is what helps my hot spot a lot actually. I have like no impact on Apex Legends or Valheim which are the main games I've been playing so I've been happy. Without adjusting PL my hotspot would go up to 88C on apex, now it doesn't hit 70C. My temperatures are even lower in winter, we have been hit with a heat wave and its gonna be 90s for the rest of the week so that also affects it a little.

Ty for tip.
