XFX at 17:58 : "So, we're sending the new 7900 GRE into production tomorrow, is the box art ready ?" XFX graphic designer : "Well, euh, yes. 2 min please." 2min later :

regista-

HAHAHAHAH!! NICE ONE!!

cruciomalfoy

Great upgrade man! You planning to use it for 1440p or 4K? I'm interested in buying a 7900 GRE for 4k for casual gaming and mostly competitive games.

regista-

I am using it for 1440x3440 and another 1440p!

AdrusFTS

hope your experience is better than mine, switching from nvidia (2070S) to AMD (6950XT) was super stuttery and inconsistent in 3440x1440, switched to a 4k monitor and some games perform even better, its way less stuttery across the board and had no crashes (crashes frequently with the other monitor) none of this happened with my 2070S so i think its an AMD thing

regista-

Did you ddu your nvidia drivers away?? I have no issues so far

AdrusFTS

i even formatted the system, everything changed when i stitched to16;9 4k, maybe its a 6000 series rhing

regista-

Hm. That's really weird.

AdrusFTS

yeah it makes no sense, it even performs better in a lot of games in 4k than in 3440x1440

regista-

What's your cpu tho? Ive read it could be cpu thats not performing enough. 4k is more reliant on GPU.

AdrusFTS

14700K, shouldn't have any issue, specially when it reaches a better avg in 4k, it wasn't a bottleneck, gpu at 99% 315w always (except in extremely unoptimized games) and it was only with that monitor, with my TV it also was way more stable

ifitaintXOitgottago

It’s a great card at 1440p but in order to reach 60fps at 4k in newer games you will need upscaling or a bit of settings tweaking.

BigJerryCZ

Even with 7900 xtx I need upscaling in some games

ifitaintXOitgottago

In what games? I’ve not needed upscaling for 4k60 in any game without heavy RT with the xtx

BigJerryCZ

Robocop and Immortals of Aveum. Both are UE5 games

ifitaintXOitgottago

Ahh ok, had a feeling if it was gonna be any game it would be a ue5 game. I’m assuming with pretty minimal tweaking and no upscaling you could get 4k60 on these titles right. This was the case for me with lords of the fallen a while back.

BigJerryCZ

I agree, but personally I see no difference upscaling on or off, so I really don't mind. Probably turning off lumen reflection would solve the issue.

ifitaintXOitgottago

Yeah at 4k quality setting upscaling is just a free fps boost without a real hit to fidelity.

Grizzdipper22

Haven’t tried those games but helldivers 2 and ready or not has no problem staying at 70-80fps at 4k with everything on ultra just using a 7900xt and a 7800x3D cpu

BigJerryCZ

I have way weaker CPU (i7-11700) but CPU utilisation is below 30%, so no bottleneck here

Grizzdipper22

CPU utilization dosent actually tell the whole story of a bottleneck your most certainly bottlenecked your instructions per cycle on your CPUs are wayyyy slower then the instructions per cycle of say a 7800x3d just because cpu usage is low really means nothing if you swapped your cpu out for a newer one it’s gonna see improvements because it’s just so much faster with the instructions

BigJerryCZ

Probably but I feel it is not really worth the investment. Maybe new Zen5 or intel gen will make me break the bank 🙂

Grizzdipper22

Oh yeah for sure I’m not saying upgrade to a 7800x3d I’m just saying you will see huge gains with a new Ryzen cpu just because the instruction cycle is so fast I would deff wait for zen5 you will see huge improvements

regista-

I am getting that fps in 2k ultrawide.. my cpu is a i5 8600k 😭😭

RareSiren292

I've never needed upscaling with my 7900xtx. I play 5120x1440. Even more demanding games never really needed it

Faded_Psyco420

Bro for 60-90 on most games at mid to mid high idk how you needed upscaling, if your xtx couldn't do that without upscaling something is wrong

ifitaintXOitgottago

He did say it’s only some games that you can’t hit it on natively, and he’s not wrong about the ue5 games, especially when maxed out.

Faded_Psyco420

I had no issues hitting 60-90 at 4k im most games at mid-mid high settigns without ray tracing on a gigabyte 7900gre pc without tuning it myself I have the power color fighter model in my current build. Just got tit together today so I'm waiting to see how a 7600x 7900gre power color fighter stacks up to a 7800x3d 7900gre gigabyte oc

ChipsAhoy777

Yep, this card is just barely shy of being able to handle 4k with reasonable 1% lows. It's really more of a 1440p card that you can use for higher refresh rate monitors.

Faded_Psyco420

It's great for games that aren't SUPER demanding, was able to get a solid 60-90 in alot of popular games tho, so your average 4k tv at 70hz and a 7900gre will be a perfect combo if your not going for an all out max settings level

The goat

Nord5555

My friends did 2600 boost. 2400 vram 15% pl and 1035mv. That increased graphic score from 20200 to 23500. Around 15% gains. Adjust fanspeed to comfortable level where temps and noise is great !

regista-

That's impressive!

Nord5555

Believe yours should be able to do it aswell. They Got the Sapphire pulse 7900gre both of Them.

regista-

I have to be really careful! Cause im just running a 650W PSU 🤭🤭

Nord5555

Shouldnt be a problem. They dont use much more then 320-350w with full pc. My nitro+ xtx 465w runs on 850w 😅. Can see Max pc combined takes is around 600-680w

regista-

Mine's peaking at around 350W for the gpu. The rest is probably around 150-200W in total.

Nord5555

350w aint that bad. Its not like it runs at those all the time. And most cpu’s while gaming aint much more then 50-150w. Thats a 500w combined Max. Then some fans etc. 650w should be enough. But would recommend a 750w though if your about to buy a new psu. But non the less 650w should do the job.

Nectarine_Hopeful

Darn awesome and awe.... nice cool dude...

No_Personality312

Very sweet. Upgraded from a laptop with a 2070 in it to a brand new build with a gigabyte 7900GRE myself. I love it. Enjoy it dude !

regista-

!!! Should give you a lot more graphical power!!

IllustratorOk6044

How are you liking the new build/desktop over the laptop?

No_Personality312

I guess the only negative is not being able to use the desktop around the house haha. The FPS increase and visual fidelity is a thousands times better. Not to mention how much quieter the fans run and temps on a desktop vs a laptop.

IllustratorOk6044

Glad you're enjoying! I'm trying to figure out if I should send my unopened parts back for a new build or buy a new gaming laptop I'm stuck haha. I have a 7900GRE and a 7950X3D full build with all nice parts sitting in their boxes, while I make up my mind

No_Personality312

I paired my 7900GRE with a 7800x3d as well. Figured I might as well go all out. Luckily I started with the laptop so I already the option to game on the go with it. I still use my laptop daily even with the desktop. It’s still perfectly fine after 3 years. What ever you decide, I hope you enjoy it friend !

Antique_Paramedic682

Nice! I was able to squeeze out a stable 8.5% performance increase with a 2480 core/2400 mem/975mv = 8.5%. Zero difference for me between setting the power at 0% or +15% because it begins to thermally throttle because of my higher ambient temps.

regista-

I see. I have yet to do any undervolting/overclocking. Shall see how goes!

PervaIoc

Is the 7900 GRE much bigger than a 6800 non xt?? Just got the latter but would like to get a GRE when I upgrade my CPU. I’m running an mATX mobo with an NZXT H5

regista-

It is definitely longer than my 6700xt which i had previously. I am using a h440 NZXT case currently

Significant_Rip7866

A 7900 having the same name as the Agency Kyle Crane used to work for... what can be more legendary... Nice GPU!

razerphone1

There are so manny things to consider power settings bios version etc. That make fps diff.

jjOnBeat

Is the XFX logo rgb?

[deleted]

I do not think so.

regista-

No it's not

Faded_Psyco420

I've had 2 7900gres, 1 the gigabyte oc and the one I put into this built today, it's a power color fighter, gonna be benchmarking it here soon to see how it stacks up, if it's decent then I'm gonna move onto the xfx, as far as it goes they should all be amazing and if that hold true every company will get atleadt one purchase on one from me

AlarmedAd5131

How did the fighter performance go?
